Titleist 907D2 Drivers

Titleist 907D2 Drivers

DESCRIPTION

Titleist. The #1 460cc driver on the PGA Tour.

When it comes to 460cc drivers, even at the highest level of competitive golf, there are plenty of choices. And Titleist continues to be the brand trusted above all others. Now there's the next evolution of 460cc driver technology, the new Titleist 907 drivers.

The Titleist 907D2 is a multi-material 460cc driver with an enhanced moment of inertia (MOI) for increased DISTANCE WITH WORKABILITY and shot control.

MOI is the clubhead's resistance to twisting on off-center impact (i.e., heel, toe, high, or low). A higher MOI value means more resistance to twisting. The benefit of a higher MOI is longer distance (better energy transfer from club to ball) on off-center impacts.

Model Reviewed: Titleist 907 D2 10.5 YS 6+ stiff shaft

I have been waiting to try the D2 since reading some early reviews. I have tried the new Taylormade Burner & Superquad, the Callaway FT-5, Cleveland Hi-Bore and others, but I really liked the square face and more traditional look of the D2. I first hit several D2 demos at the range last week, trying all four stock shafts. with my swing (hit 8 iron about 155 yds.), I found the Graphite Design YS 6+ stiff shaft to be the most consistent. although the D2 is more forgiving than earlier Titleist drivers, I was still able to work the ball flight and direction relatively easily. It has a very solid feel & sound even with slight off center hits. I am extremely happy with the d2 and highly recommend it. After hitting the demos at the range last week, I immediately bought a D2, and went home & put a Golf Pride New Decade, MultiCompound Midsize grip on it. I've played 54 holes with it since then, and been very impressed. I have had a number of drivers over the years and this is the best one I've hit.

Already happy with my present driver (Tour Edge Exotics), I nonetheless took a chance and bought this driver when it first came out.

My last Titleist driver was the 905T and although I really liked that club, the Exotics was superior to it. So, my expectations for the 907D2 were pretty low with regard to the performance of my present driver.

Lukewarm expectations aside, from the first hit with the D2, I could tell that it was a huge leap forward compared to any other Titleist driver and something very special.

The D2 may not be as solid at impact as past Titleist offerings, but it's much more solid than the typical 460cc drivers on the market today.

The sound however is solid and powerful, not thin and tinny as many others. Impact feels explosive and the UST V2 is a perfect match for me with this clubhead. The release through impact is excellent.

The trajectory is medium-high but flat and piercing with no ballooning at all. As a matter of fact, it's the best driver that I've hit into the wind.

Overall, it's the longest driver that I've ever hit even surpassing the Exotics, which I thought was remarkably long for me.

My typical miss is out toward the toe and like the 905T, the D2 forgives this tendency almost entirely. I find the D2 overall to be very forgiving.

The clubhead sits square to my eye. Ball-flight is typically a strong fade for me with this stick but turning it over is doable also.

My swing isn't yet where it needs to be for the season but the results that I've been getting from the D2 would have you believe otherwise. It's simply a great club and one that I'm very happy to have taken a chance on.

Long, forgiving, solid. Really, what's not to love?

Awesome club. Last year, I bought the 905R, but didn't feel it was much better than my trusty 983K. In fact, I never put the 905R into play. The 907D2 is a big improvement. It's long, very straight and still alows for shot making. It doesn't give quite as much feedback as the 983K, but none of the new drivers do. Good job Titleist, even though you're about a year behind the other club makers.

I have tried them all and this stands out among all the top drivers. Being a lefty, I had to wait for this to become available and I finally picked it up over the weekend. Since March of this year, I have used the Taylor Made r7 425 TP, r7 460, r5 TP, Superquad and Burner. I also tried the Tour Edge Exotics, Callaway FT-I, Nike SQ, and the Titleist 905r. I know I have issues, but I can tell you that I found a keeper in this new D2. It is very solid, very long and the feel is tremendous for a 460cc driver. The look is classic and gives me a ton of confidence at address. I am using the 9.5 with Aldila stock stiff shaft. The stock shaft works great for my smooth tempo. Anyway, I highly recommend this club. Titleist has done it again!

Went to this from the 905R with the same loft and shaft. This does sound different, not bad...just different. It does feel a bit lighter than the 905R did, but nothing that was eye opening in nature. I can't say that I see a lot of difference in distance, maybe 5 yards. It is more forgiving, but still workable off the tee. Between this and my prior model I don't think there is THAT much difference, but I do like the looks of this one more, and the extra forgiveness, while a minimal difference in my mind, doesn't hurt. If you own a 905R now, you might want to see if you can play a bit with a demo D2 before throwing down the money. You might find a huge difference, but personally I didn't find it that revolutionary.

Pretty much stuck on playing Titleist drivers as I have tried most of the popular models over the years, and I just keep coming back to Titleist, which I think fits my game the best.

Model Reviewed: Titleist 907 D2

Great driver! I've owned other Titleist drivers, most recently the 905S and 905R, both very good drivers but the 907 D2 is significantly better! Much better feel and sound! I have the 907 D2 with 9.5* loft and stiff UST V2, 76g shaft, great combination. First, this driver is very long and forgiving, but not so forgiving that workability is sacrificed. Although not as workable as my trusty 983K, the 907 D2 provides a good balance. Second, this driver is by far longer than any other that I've hit. The ball comes of the face hot with a very nice, penetrating trajectory (no ballooning) and plenty of roll. My first round out with it I drove the green on a 327 yard par 4, pin high! I've come close to driving this hole many times in the past with other drivers, but got on via the 907 D2 with ease. Effortless power, doesn't require a hard swing to get good distance. Very solid, well made, superior quality driver. Highly recommended!!!
