I bought this club after using a TM xr-03 for several years. I felt like a change so I picked up an ex-demo 425, mint condition for almost 1/2 off!!!I like this club a lot. Firstly it is good looking. Nice colours on the shaft and a nice looking head. I set it up for high neutral as i hit fairly straight and it is excellent. very long, makes a nice noise and if hit well it holds its line beautifully. A lot of people say the shaft is no good but either im not good enough to know the difference or some people are far to picky/keen to blame problems on the club. I have the stock stiff shaft as i swing quite fast. I regularly crush the balls 300+ with this club. Obviously i still hit the odd bad shot but the club gives me confidence that I will hit a good shot every time, so more often then not i do!

Great club, first i want to say i can slice any driver, the callaway 460 with 2 degree closed face, the high moi titleist 907 d2. The TM on the otherhand goes very straight, very high, but i have it at stock settings and it's a 10.5 degree. I can still fade it, but it ends up in the fairway so it's correcting my swing flaws. Going to try to set it to slight draw and bring the flight slightly lower. This club is so forgiving that it lets you just swing and it does the rest, it's actually hard to hit a bad shot. My first swing at the range and i already knew this one is staying in the bag. It's just as far or farther then the other 2 drivers i have except that this one is a no brainer. Should have stuck with TM, i had a 360XD awhile back and drove it very well also. Anyways, this club is discounted now is why i tried it and will leave it in the bag. I like it because it's not as huge as the 460 or just doesn't look as huge. The people that said this was junk, i just don't understand, it's the most forgiving driver i hit all year. By the way, the nv shaft feels a little boardy in the D2, the fuji in the callaway feels good can feel it load up, the TM fuji is between the two. It feels stiff but not as boardy as the nv.

Customer Service

never tried it, but i'm sure they are great like callaway, cleveland, and titleist.

Got the club this morning, 425 9.5 stiff flex. It was raining and I didn't care. Headed out to my local course right away and let my eagerness get the best of me. Came down with her a little too steep.. Once I got the first tee jitters out of the way, crack (what a wonderful sound) down the middle. Not bad for only swinging it 3 times..
The club at address really is confidence inspiring, I thought that was a crock of sh%& until today.. I had it set up for a the basic draw, 2-12-2-12 and think I'll be leaving it that way.. My swing of late has had a slight fade, so with the draw set up today out of 14 tee shots 1 slice 1 fade, 4 good draws ( max was about 8 yards L of target) and 8 strait down on the short grass.. (only 2 missed fairways)
As far as length goes, well it wasn't that much better than my 360xd, about 10yds on average but that will change as I get used to the new club. It is the consistency that will keep this club in my bag for a long time to come. With the option to move the weights to suit how my swing changes with time, I won't be giving this up till I'm a single digit HCer (if even then).

In conclusion, if you have a decent swing and have a consistent fade or draw that might be a little more than you want this club will help you. Will it help the off the chart hdc'er? Of course it will, but probably not as much as some good reading or lessons..

I am an average golfer who played with starter clubs (Nicklaus/Golden Bear) for a while. When it came time to get a new driver I tried out a lot of them at Golfsmith and the R7 425 fit me the best. I was able to hit it about 30-40 yards longer and fairly straight. I set it for a baby draw because I used to slice the GB driver badly. I hit my drives 250-290 yards and mostly make the fairway. I would highly recommend this driver to anybody.

I switched to this club from a Cobra 460 cc head. I played a couple models, each with an NV shaft. My tendency there was to spray it long and deep and I hit it high. IMO, the shaft was a bad fit.

I hit a friend's 425 TP, but the shaft was too stiff and the loft was too low. Still, I saw a difference. I went out and got fitted for a standard 10.5 r7 425 with the regular Fujikura ReAx shaft. I paid $249 and got a free dozen TM balls. (NOTE: I liked the balls so much I switched from the pro V's!)

Results? My carry distance is no less than 10 yards shorter, but I am hitting lots of fairways. (yes, my own fairways) I love the feel of the shaft, as it reminds me a bit of the Grafalloy ProLite. The traditional look gives me confidence at address and I find myself confidently hitting draws and fades.

Ball flight is boring, not high like my Cobras. (Hence, my carry distance loss) Our fairways are always soft, so the roll is never much. I am lucky to run out 10 to 15 yards at my home course. I imagine a firm fairway could win me another 20 to 30 yards. I am not the only guy at my place who hits a perfect drive, only to find it 25 yards behind where you thought it would end up.

I played with the weights but didn't notice a thing. I settled on the draw configuration because I tend to leave the face a little open sometimes. In all honesty though, I see zero difference in the shots as compared to neutral. I wouldn't call it a gimmick, as a lot of guys notice a difference, but I barely swing 90 mph and only break 80 every 3rd round or so. All I know is I can hit intentional draws or fades with every config they offer, so in the end, what good is it? Its not the arrow, its the Indian, ya know?

I think the 425 is more of a "players club", if you will. Definitely not the longest driver on the market for swing speeds below 95 mph. If distance is your goal, there are probably 20 better options. In terms of accuracy and consistency though, I think the r7 425 is at the top of its class. The value proposition is also very high right now. Overall rating reflects distance loss.

I just got this club, it is the first high end driver I have had. Hits amazing, straigter and longer than anyother club I have ever used. One main reason I wanted the r7 was because with my old driver (Golden Bear ATW) I hit a horrible snap slice, and wanted to be able to use the MWT to help correct this. The club hits straigt even without moving the weights, amazing.

I have not used, but a friend of mine has and have heard nothing but good things about them.

wel i have owned quite a few r7's (4 to be exact) and the 425tp imo was the best of any... i think TM got it right when they designed this club... in short it is a great its pretty long and a little workable... i loved it and it stayed in the bag for a while... overall i would give it a 9 of 10... if you need more forgiveness there are better options out there but if you want some forgiveness and a little workability then this is your club... reason i got rid of it was i need a little more workability (i bought the Titleist 907 D2)... give this one a serious look at...

This thing is a rocket launcher. I bought the 9.5* X-stiff, because I swing out of my shoes, and it is truly remarkable how long and accurate this driver is. 300+ with range balls.

I tried the R580XD, R5 N (in different lofts and shafts...too many to count) and finally decided that less is more. What I mean by that is, by trial and error, I hit the smaller sized woods better. I can crank my TM Rescue Mid 2, TM V Steel T/S 13* and TM V Steel 5W.

Plunked down over three bills for the TM R7 425 (a couple of weeks before it went down to $200! Thanks, TM!) because I didn't want to swing a 460 cc, toaster-on-a stick.

Played enough rounds to know that if my Rescue Mid 2 and 3W and 5W are outdistancing my driver that the stock shaft is crap.

Leave it to TM to make a beautiful head, Tour-Proven, and put in a marketing driven, crap stock shaft. Looks nice with all the visuals, but, is a wet noodle.

I reshafted with an Aldila NV65 Stiff, which is the same as my 3W & 5W. Huge difference. Today, I hit some 250-275, without "stepping on it" and could actually feel the shaft loading.

I love TM wood heads, but, the thing I hate is their constant turnover of products and stock shafts.

Customer Service

Great. TM responds quickly and takes care of issues promptly.

WOW. I have a chronic problem with shanking my driver to the right, usually 25-50 yards. It got so bad that I took it out of my bag. I recently was searching for a Tayor Made driver as i just bought there set of irons and I came across the r7 Quad on overstock.com for $220 new with shipping so I gave it a chance. Let me say, this club is amazing. Its so good I think it may be harder to hit bad shot than a good one. I usually shoot in the low to mid 90's and hit my 3 wood 200. I took this out for the first time and hit every fairway I used it on but one. Distance wise I was hitting between 260 and 310. What amazed me most was that I could actually swing as hard as I wanted and I was still hitting it straight. BTW I got the 9.5 degree stiff flex shaft. In closing I shot an 81 instead of my average of 94 on my first round. Taylor made has truly done something amzing here.
