Had to have this club, 1st bought a GBB II and hated it. The ball felt dead coming off the face and lucky for me the guy at the golf shop let me have full credit toward a R 580 TM. I just don't like this club, I love just ripping it and if you rip it with the 580 your going to have a hard time finding your ball. The easier you swing the further and straighter the ball will go. I tried a friends 975J and that's the club for me, the ball feels like it totally collapses off the face and seems like it goes a mile with a nice little draw. Think I'll have this club re-shafted and give it another try or give it to my wife if that doesn't work. 975J is in my future. Used to play with Titleist 975J 9.5 stiff, stock shaft. Decided to try new club after losing 5 balls OB to right last week. Problem was I was blocking or pushing to right w/Titleist 3 out 4 swings. Long story short, R580 9.5 stiff has been straighter with a draw-shaped shot and ironically, a lower trajectory. Most importantly, mis-hits are STRAIGHT, and still roll 220+ yds. Well hit drives seem to go about the same distance (290-310) w/each of these clubs, but the Titleist does feel alot better when its hit right. Net-net, the R580 is the right choice for me because the mis-hits are keeping me in play and well within range of greens. For alot of people I think strokes are saved by having "good" mis-hits rather than "bad" ones. Similar Products Used: Titleist 975J, Calloway GBB |

I'm one of those inconsistent golfers who can't hit my driver for squat and ends up teeing off with my 5 iron (avg. 200 yards). Yesterday, I decided to demo the R580 with stock stiff shaft. My first drive sailed 340 yards! Thought it was a fluke, but every drive after that was averaging 300 yards +/- 10 yards (with half of them being straight down the fairway). I've never had this sort of success with any of the drivers I've tried. Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: TM Super Steel, Titlest 975D, Honma 2 Stars, TM 360 |

Damn! I'm only 15 and I am flushed out in Mizuno. I demo'd the 580 against my t-zoid ti. With my Miz, I usually hit it about 220+. I'm not going to put up any bull about how this club got me hitting 300 yard drives, but it consistantly put me past my normal distances on my home course from 10 all the way up to 25 and 30 yards on some drives. I'm taking 1-3 clubs less on every par 4 and 5. And I will definitely be buying it. ( Don't buy into the crap about how stock shafts don't preform, some of them are great). This driver is great. Took it to the range, consisitently drove 250 yrds straight with a few 300ydrs. Played in a scramble and was cutting doglegs averaging 235 yds. Well worth the investment. |

I'm a 22 handicap. The first time I played this driver I shot an 83. It is about 15 to 20 yds. longer than my Biggest Big Bertha and much straighter. I don't know if its worth $400 but it was definitely worth the money I paid for this refurbished model. I haven't yet noticed any problems with the stock shaft. It appeared pretty consistent. 580 Stiff Shaft
Was very excited about getting to hit this club. The excitement wore off quickly after hitting the club for awhile. Didn't have anything over my current club the Biggest Big Bertha. Sounds alot like the Ti2 at impact and seemed to have similar results with the yardage not overly impressive. Did seem to hit straight shots with it, but nothing different than with my current club. Generally hit a slightly high ball and this driver actually brought the drive down to where I like it but had no difference with length. Not a bad club but maybe not right fit for my game. The Tour Stiff stock shaft is too weak if your swing speed exceeds 105 mph with a driver. If your driving distance exceeds 250 yards then your swing speed is likely 105+ mph. I had the Taylormade R580 reshafted with the Grafalloy blue x-flex. What a major improvement! Taylormade charges $25 extra if you custom order the Grafalloy shaft at the time of purchase. It will cost about $65 if you have the club reshafted by your local retailer after purchase. The custom shaft is a very cheap upgrade that is well worth the $$$. Too bad Taylormade did not choose the Grafalloy blue as the standard shaft. Let's face it, the standard shaft in $400 drivers today are cheap junk. The question you should ask yourself is: do any pro golfers use the stock shaft? The answer is NO. |

This club is simply amazing. Once you get the hang of it, this weapon delivers consistency and distance at alarming rate. If you're looking for a driver, you'not doing yourself a favour if you do not put this on your list. The only hunch is the price tag. Then again, what is a fraction more for the best ? Very good club. Switched from 975J 9.5 to R580. Added 10-15 yards to my drive Not as workable but very accurate when hitting straight drives |
