Model Reviewed: TaylorMade bubble burner driver and 7 wood

These are two great clubs. My strength is driving the ball (drive for show, putt for dough). These clubs are forgiving on my bad days and unrelenting on my good days. The driver I got used when they first came out with the bubble burners and the 7 I got a few years later. I drive the ball between 280 and 320 yards fairly consistenly, with this 9.5 driver I am very consistent in with these distances. The 7 wood is by far my most favorite club in the bag. I use it instead of an iron from distances of 220-240 yards. I can count on one hand the number of times I have misplayed the ball with this club. I like the smaller head and that bubble shaft is more than just a gimmick. I wouldn't be able to play with them anymore if I wasn't able to give them the full 5 birdie rating.

I bought the driver and #3 wood at the same time. I got the graphite shafts as I like the feel of them over steel shafts and the price was not that much more. I bought the 11.5-degree driver and find that with my limited experience I can hit the ball straighter and get it up easier. For a reasonably priced driver I can recommend the Burner.

Customer Service

I decided shortly after purchasing my driver that I wanted the shaft shortened one inch. I contacted a couple of local sources and no one wanted to do it because of the Bubble shaft. I contacted Taylor Made directly and they assured me that it would be no problem and that if I returned it through an authorized dealer they would do the work and return it to me in two weeks. They were true to their word and not only did not charge me for the modification but also paid the shipping both directions! Where else can you get that kind of service. I commend them and wish others would learn.

I've been playing this club off and on for several years. Straightest hitting driver I've had in years but seems dead. This is with the stiff bubble shaft. Ball flight is of correct tragectory but distance is very finnicky on off center hits. Use this club for tighter courses. Typical distances are in the 240-260 range. With the 9.5 degree Ti driver I'm in the 250-280 range but can at time be a little less accurate.

I recently purchased the 3- and 5-woods. They both feel excellent and with he small clubhead and shallow face, help me get it airborne easier. I absolutely love the 5-wood. It feels perfect in my hands and the bubble shaft is absolutely a revolution. I like them so much I believe I'll be asking for a 7-wood or rescue club for Christmas. I'm not a huge hitter, but these clubs do certainly seem to help add a little distance. They are also, hands down, the sweetest-looking clubs on the market. I also purchased these clubs at $119 each, so they seemed like a steal.

Customer Service

Excellent. I had the club-head covers stolen on my second outing. I e-mailed Taylor Made Customer srevice, and in exactly 2 days they sent me an e-mail back stating the covers were on the way, free of charge. It may seem minor, but you don't find that kind of support often.

I've tried a lot of metal woods. So why did I go with Taylor Made? THE SOUND. No 'tink' or 'pink', just a good solid THWACK! Heavier-feeling club heads make me feel more confident. Better shafts do too. 10.5 Driver with stiff shaft off the tee (9.5 was too flat) and 3 or 5 in the turf (even rough) works great for me.

An airline busted my 5... got a new one in a week (they even put a new head on it). GREAT SERVICE!
