Best driver I've ever hit period. This thing is a godsend, I used to slice 95% of my balls and with this thing I slice 5%. I am driving short par 4s with ease and just watch my friends look on in awe as I smoke another one 275 right down mainstreet. It is expensive, but look around and you'll fine a good deal on one and trust me it's worth it.

Was fitted for this club on a swing monitor. Price was very good on a brand new club so I took a shot on it. 10.5 with an NV-65 stiff shaft. Swing speed was right for the shaft, lauch angle was where they wanted it and the impact felt great off the face. Have played 1 round and hit the range 5 times. Comparable to the Titleist in carry once I adjusted it for the lower flight trajectory, but lacks the additional roll at any traj. Is no magic bullet, but is a nice club. I think there are better clubs out there for the normal price but maybe not for the price I paid. The new 425's & 460's are out there so these will go down in price tomorrow.
Get fitted but then take it to the range.

I'm now 2 years into this purchase, have tried the latest drivers including Cleveland Hi-Bore and Callaway Fusion FT3, and I can honestly say I AM NOT CHANGING. As an equipment junkie, no driver has kept my attention this long. Fundamentally, the R7 Quad concept of movable weight technology is sound. Taylor Made quality is excellent.

In fairness, I have been through 3 shafts on this driver...the last one fitted in an "appointment only" shop using a launch monitor and an excellent professional club fitter. Next time you are not satisfied with your current driver, look at your swing first, your shaft second, and then the clubhead. By all means, use a launch monitor in your fitting with a skilled professional by your side. It pays!

Golf marketing is a wonderful thing. Mickelson wins the Masters with 2 drivers and now some companies are promoting carrying 2 drivers. Chances are you are not Phil Mickelson. If I'm a club manufacturer, I'm doubling my sales targets this year on my most expensive and most profitable club because the sheep will follow.

Model Reviewed: R7 Quad - With Anvila NVS stiff shaft

Just got this from ebay for £170 and OMG! Bunked off work and ran to our local driving range to try it out. I am normally horribly inconsistent especially in a headwind but today I have found straight driving heaven - as for long? Ask the tram driver on the line at the end of the range who just took a rangeball to the roof at 280yards during a lull in the headwind!!! Not sure if its everyones bag (see other reviews) but I have fallen in love.

I've had my R7 for about two months now and I've been to the driving range and also have played about 6 rounds and I am very happy with my purchase. Based on some reviews that I read, I wasn’t sure how good the driver would perform. I have always been longer off the tee than most of my friends and I have even won some long drives in some golf scramble that I entered, so I didn't purchase the club for distance. I wanted to find the short grass more consistently, and so far that is exactly what I got. My main issue is I push the ball to the right because I don't finish with my hands causing me to leave the club face open at impact. Because the R7's face is slightly closed, I am able to make better contact with the ball, increased my accuracy and also distance. Most of my golf buddies wish I was still using my old driver. With the R7 I am hitting the golf ball about 285-290 yards, that’s an increase of about 10 yards from my previous club. The only issue that I have with the R7 that I purchased is that the club has a very deep face which makes it very difficult to hit off the deck. To compensate, I’ve been using the R5 3 wood which is an excellent club also, but that is a different review.

Where to start..? I purchased this club mid-way through the 2005 season, and I am very glad that I did. I went to Carl's Golfland in Michigan and tried the R7, the Cleveland Launcher, Callaway 454, ERC Fusion, the big ugly driver from Ping and the R5 Dual. Let me just tell you that the R7, with a stiff Fujikira Speeder 757 shaft, out performed anything else on the market. I can't understand how anyone could say it's a sub par product. But lets be realistic, if your swing is ugly, the result will probably match it. This is not a miraicle club, but if you put a nice swing on it...it goes! It dose not matter how long I hit it because how far I hit it does not apply to you. I will say that I have never hit a driver farther than this one. All in all, its a well made, and quality made piece of equipment. Don't be turned off by negative rewiews...some people mistake a product that does not suit them for a product that is inferior.

Model Reviewed: R7 Quad 9.5* stiff

Well I have read most of these reviews and must say that I am amazed that not everyone loves this club, I have only been playing for 6 months, I brought the club in the American golf January sale, in the simulator I hit it over 220 yards! I knew that the machine might be longer (if you know what I mean!!) Anyway took it to the range hit about 10 good balls out of 100! was very very worried but carried on trying, 2 weeks later can do no wrong, played today hit a massive 280 yard drive straight down the fairway! Really did it was measured THIS CLUB IS AWSOME & the legal version, repeated several 220+ drives, I have a fade swing so have the club set to MORE DRAW This club is great if you can find one at a good price get it this club will be with me for a very long time, The secret is I tee it up a little lower than my old Wilson Deep red. Thanks Taylor made

The R7 is a solid driver for a more advanced golfer. I have had several of the taylor made drivers starting with the r580, r5, and r7. Out of the three drivers I used I found the r5 more forgiving for off center hits. I have also found the r7 has more control for turning or moving the ball. The r5 hit further as well but not as much control. Out of all the drivers I would choose the r5 unless you are a single digit handicapper. I have a natural power fade and I have to set the r5 for a hard draw to shape my shots. Drawing becomes very easy but I attain the same results from my r5 draw. I have been looking for another r5, I have considered going back to it. I have heard the new r7 has addressed some of the distance issues making it more forgiving. The shaft in the club has more bearing on the club then anything else. If your swing speed is low 90 is stiff to tour shafts. No need to hit a speeder shaft if you're swing speed doesnt support it. The Ht driver has addresses this issue with a senoir shaft.

Customer Service

I would suggest testing a new driver with several shafts.
