TaylorMade Mens R7 Quad Drivers

TaylorMade Mens R7 Quad Drivers

DESCRIPTION

The R7 Quad features TaylorMade Launch Control (TLC) - a sophisticated system that permits discretionary clubhead weight to be redistributed in six configurations by means of TLC cartridges and TLC ports. The cartridges are either 2 grams or 10 grams. By repositioning them, you can change the trajectory between high, low, more draw, draw, fade or more fade. Comes with Trajectory wheel, TLC wrench, 4 TLC cartridges and headcover.

I bought this driver two days ago after reading numerous reviews and I have to say I have not been disappointed. What a tool !!. My fade that I have spent 2 years trying to correct has gone, with the help of the TLC cartridges. I am now hitting the ball an average of 50 yards further, and more importantly its going straight. I can't recommend this driver highly enough, although I would suggest you are fitted for it properly. I went to my local taylormade dealer asking for a 10.5 degree loft and aftre hitting a number of balls on the simulator, it soon became apparent that I actually needed 9.5 degrees of loft with a thicker grip. Well done Taylormade - a certain winner.

This is the best driver I ever tried. With this driver, my ball flight straight and long. The adjustable knits really work. The sound is s sweet. I have the Japanses version which come with MAS2 50 plus. stock shaft. but I will change mine to Fujikura Speeder shaft.

I demo'd the club today at my local club and compared to the titleist 983k I carry now, the R7 blew it away. I was able to hit the R7 consistenly 275-290 vs. the 983k which I am only able to push to 260. In addition, my slice disappeared ith the R7. It sounds GREAT when hit. I traded my 983 in for the r7 right there on the spot.

OK, it seems that there are some people who are dissing this driver on this site. There are two possibilities...one is that they are so good that the r7 Quad does not help them at all (if you already drive it 300 yards then there is no point in getting this driver). Or, they are so bad that NO driver could help them. I think that I fit the profile of most golfers out there. I shoot in the 80s, and I drive the ball about 215-220 yards. Not very long, but I am usually staight. The frustrating thing is that on long par 4s (for me this means 400 yards and longer) I have a tough time. Also frustrating is that with my old driver (the TM R580) even when I make a great swing and great contact, I seem to max out at 225 yards (I admit that I am not a long hitter). Having said all this, I can say that the first time out with the r7 Quad I hit EASY drives of 250 yards. I do not feel that I have had a chance to hit it square yet (I am still getting used to it), but I think that 270 is now within my reach. This solves my problem of long par 4s. If fact, in two rounds with my r7 Quad I shot par both times at the 440 yard Par 4 6th hole at my home course. This hole has been my nemisis, I usually get double bogey and I used to par it only once every 10 times. It is the hardest hole on the course. By the way, the weight adjustments do work. The draw setting may not fix a bad slice, but I have found that if you are normally a straight hitter the ball trajectory will change significantly depending on what setting you have the driver on.

I got this driver about a month ago and have had many chances to get out and hit it. I liked it from the moment I first hit it, although I haven't bothered to change the position of the weights. It is definetely louder than I am used to, but let's be honest, does that really matter?? I noticed pretty quick that it's not any longer than my last driver, but it is a whole lot more consistent. It has really helped my game of the tee. Most of the complaints that I've heard amount to someone who's let down that the club doesn't make them hit a certain shot. Hey guess what, if your swing sucks there isn't a technology anywhere in the world that'll fix it. Save the 500 bucks for lessons.

I have demoed the Taylor Made r7 quad(stock stiff) and Titleist 983K (YS-6 stiff)for the past two weeks. I've hit approximately 200 balls with each club. Although I'm a tremendous Titleist fan and love the 983K, I reluctantly must admit that Taylor Made may have a superior product on their hands. But not by much. My drives are 270-285 yards long with the r7 and 265-275 yards long with the 983K. My 975J only averages 250-265 yards. Also, I noticed more of my drives finding the fairway with the r7. Notable observations with the r7: 1. Longer drives. 2. Straighter drives. 3. Nice design. 4. Feels very comfortable and stable at impact. 5. Ball jumps hot off the face. 6. Med/High ball flight. 7. I can change my launch conditions with the supplied weights (Although not during a round.) Dislikes: 1. Price (although all new clubs are this way.) 2. I need get used to the loud sound this driver makes. I'm used to the nicer sounding Titleist clubs. 3. This is a heavier club versus other clubs I have tried. 4. I don't care for the head cover. 5. No lazy swings allowed. Conclusion: The weights really work, but are not a miracle. I am punished for lazy/bad swings with this club, as I am with the 983K. Overall, the r7 is a very good club. I'm sold! Now it's time to work on the short game. As they say: drive for show, putt for dough.

Awesome driver. I bought me son a R580XD and decided to buy one. Went to Ebay and tried a bid on an R7 and wouldn't you know but I got it. It's a great club. I tried the draw setting but ended up with the normal/low setting. I'm probably getting normal drives out there 260 to 270 now with a lot of confidence. Taylormade has another winner. I find it's very easy to change the settings.

Nothing to write home about and seriously overpriced. Can't understand all the hype. Adjusting screws? You have to be a plumber to figure that one out. Compared to other pro-line drivers, the R7 barely makes average. I have a TM R580XD, which blows the R7 in every category. Not only is the R580XD the distance king, it also sounds and feels much better than the R7, which, unless hit dead center, feels like crap and goes nowhere. TM makes the best stuff in golf. I play their irons and couldn't be happier. But the R7 is a turkey and, despite the big presence on the PGA Tour, won't work for most of us. Buy a 580XD and take the wife out to dinner and a movie a few times.

Customer Service

Very good, almost as good as Callaway.

At first, I tweaked the screws to have more draw but I found the neutral position can bring me enough draw. Honestly, this is not a club that you will like when you demo at the first time. You have to try it for at least a few rounds to feel it. I grip down the driver about one inch lower to have more accuracy and consistancy. I am only 5-6 tall, 132 pounds. But I can use this club to hit around 265-270 yards, around 10-15 yards longer than my previous Launcher 330. If I can hit more fairways, this driver is definitely my tee off club most of time. I would not recommend this club to anyone who does not hit 3 wood well enough.

The new TM r7 quad is an outstanding driver, really helps you in your ball trajectory, but this comes at a price. That of distance. If i compare the r7 to my other driver (Callaway ERC Fusion), i'd say on the average i'm probably 10 to 15 yds shorter on my drives. I have opted to use my ERC Fusion on more forgiving courses, and my r7 in those which i find narrower fairways. BTW... This has been a common complain among other people using this driver.
