Solid driver with a poor shaft. Bought a 7.5 degree 300 with S90 shaft. Took one month before I replaced it with a Harrison Professional. Amazing difference. Easily getting 30 yards more compared to my older Top Flite Intimidator driver. Average carry is over 280 yards on the good days. Can't be beat for the price paid ($150 U.S.)

I've only played a few rounds with this driver, but so far I'm very happy with it. My driving distance significantly increased over my last driver, an old school burner. The club face is very forgiving on off center shots, not costing me much distance at all. I'm not at the ability level to try and work the ball too much, so I don't have a comment on workability. I can say that the ball travels as straight as I swing, and that's all I need.

Hey whats up. I have completely changed my mind about taylor made. I thought the 975JVS and J were the hottest drivers out there...but this driver has turned me upside down. Now I think its on par with the Titleist. Id rather have the TItleist but with this price, you cant beat it. I just reshafted the crappy TS-100 shaft with a proforce 65 X flex shaft and boy its no long hollow feeling...it feels very solid similar to the 975 drivers. Distance is amazing. Trajectory is lower than ever and I am carrying 260 easily with 20-30 yds of roll thereafter. Witht he 975JVS and J, I was carrying around 275. Ill gladly lose a few yards on the fly to get a little more roll. Overall distance is same as Titleist. Titleist still has better feeling but with the price drop you cant beat it. I am truly a believer of the shaft. Get a shaft that fits you. The UST Proforce makes your head feel much more solid and keeps the trajectory low low low!. Also, the R500 sucks!!! too damn big. the 300 series is pretty much the same driver. Do yourself a favor and save yourself a few bucks by buying this driver at a very reasonable cost right now and get it fit with a good shaft. You will love it. Another note fellow golfers, this is as small a head as its going to get so keep onto this driver as a classic weapon. Its only gonna get larger and larger. My predictions is 600cc by the end of 2004. PS. The 200 series taylor made fairway woods are by far the best ever made. Better than the 300 series fairway woods.

Lately I'm getting fed up with guys who've never played a round with me telling me "tee up, don't worry about hitting the group in front" or just plain "you won't hit it that far." Bugs the hell out of me. On one occasion my visiting brother-in-law couldn't believe I drove the green on a short par four. He insisted it was the ball 50 yds. in front that one of our partners actually hit. My ball turned up 5 yds. past the green, oops! I'm short and people assume I can't hit it, but this club and a SuperSoft or Noodle get me out there. What's more, this is the first driver I can actually hit a draw with and I don't really work on that shot, yet. I generally hit a high fade and have no trouble cutting corners with tall trees so I bought the 320 9.5 degree with the stiff Proforce 65 shaft. The 360 I tried had a reg. flex and I tended to slice it very high. The right shaft and loft are a definite must to know whether this club is good for you. All good drivers are way over-priced. That said, it was a great deal. I've had this club for about 3 months now and I can't wait to hit every week.

Customer Service

I started hearing a rattle in the club head after two weeks. (No loss of distance, but who wants that?!) Edwin Watts had another one in the warehouse, but they told me TM would have replaced it without trouble either way.

I liked this driver shape as the 320,360 and new 420 TM drivers heads seem to big for me. After playing with this a season I still like it but have trouble keeping it from fading if I try to hit it big. The solution for me was to grip down on it a bit, losing some distance but now plays in the middle of the fairway most of the time. Since the 420's have come out, the price for these have dropped significantly which means you can probably pick one up for under $100 on EBAY.

When I first got this club I wanted to hit it so bad. Once I did hit it, it went a long way. This driver added 30 yds to my driving game. I would recommend this driver to anyone. It hits solid and adds distance to drives

Model Reviewed: 300Ti 10.5 deg R TM Shaft

I sadly had to change from my previous excellent driver (Progen Full Bore offset) when my swing changed after lessons. I tried a number of drivers before opting for the 300Ti. I decided on this as I don't like the club head being too large and the slightly shorter shaft would also (hopefully) help accuracy. If you have a wild fast swing this is not the club for you. It punishes the erratic but rewards the consistent. A steady, smooth, in-to-out swing is the way to go. Once I got into that habit the ball really flies, and straight to a slight draw. I could never draw a drive before this club. There is a definite improvement in distance too. About 20-30 yards is a good estimate. I was brought up on Persimmon headed woods so do not need a large head to give confidence, but if you do struggle with your drives then this club may be a little too much hard work for you. However for those who are willing to let the club do the work and don't need to go for the balls-out macho approach this is one I would recommend trying.

Model Reviewed: Taylor Made Ti 300 8.5

Having used an old Mizuno Mission 300 1.5 wood for a few years, I was looking forward to finally playing with something a bit more up to date. I chose this Taylor Made model as I liked the traditional shape of the club and for me it felt as good as the Titleist 975J but was £100 cheaper. I am not a big hitter, so the gains in yardage I have made are not as extravagant as some others might claim. What is much more noticeable is the forgivness of this club, supposedly the least forgiving of the 300 series drivers. Shots of the middle fly like missiles and even off centre hits go quite a distance. However, if you put considerable spin on the ball (a polite way of saying "hook or slice") you might have trouble keeping the ball in play and I would recommend that you try the club out at the range before making any decisions. But otherwise I have no complaints - in conjunction with some lessons my game has picked up noticeably since buying this beast.

Model Reviewed: TM300 Driver (S90 Tour Shaft)

I have been using this driver for 1 year and 3 mths. It gives good distance. But still I can control it. Around 30% of my balls fade. Around 30% slice and o.b.. My hcp is 15. And I am playing with TM300 iron with rifle 6.0 with no problem. I can draw my balls with my irons. My club heard speed around 100 mph. I have been searching for other drivers and thinking about re-shafting seriously now. Should I change it to rifle shaft with 44"? Will there be more control for 1" shorter? Pls kindly help if you have some similar experience.

Model Reviewed: Taylor 300 Ti

I'm back in golf after a 12 year absence. This is my first metal driver which replaced an ancient Ben Hogan persimmon driver. It really launches it a long way. Mine is a 9.5 degree loft with the Tour S90 shaft. I got the 300 since, being a traditionalist, I just can't deal with looking at those huge 360cc heads. Anyway, I was patient enough to eventually find exactly what I wanted on somebody's used rack since the new prices are pretty outrageous. I happened to find it a Golfsmith store. The head is a bit light for my taste, which may just be the product of a titanium head. I consistently hit this driver 250-260 yards, and occasionally 280 to 300+ yards yards. However, the mistakes are just as long. If you slice or hook, rest assured that you will hit a MASSIVE slice or hook with this driver. I have a fast enough club head speed and hit it long enough that I'm considering selling it and buying one of the new steel drivers. This club hits it SO long that I often leave it in the bag in favor of teeing it up with my Adams GT 3 wood which I hit 225-240 yards off a tee with a lot more predictability. The Taylor 300Ti is a good club if you want a titanium head. Those with fast club head speeds may want to consider the newer steel heads.

Customer Service

The people at Golfsmith in Plano are great. The Taylor web site is informative.
