TaylorMade 200 Series Drivers

TaylorMade 200 Series Drivers

DESCRIPTION

Borrowing from the advanced design of its titanium cousins, the 200 Steel driver combines state-of-the-art Powerframe Technology and face-weld construction to produce the largest (275cc) and fastest COR steel driver we''ve ever developed. High-strength 455 stainless allows for thinner, lighter construction. This gives us more CAD-design freedom to expand the head size, distribute weight and optimize CG for improved trajectory.

This is a driver with great forgiveness and consistency, although not the longest. With this driver, I am hitting my balls on the fairway for around 220-230 yards off the tee. I selected a higher loft (12 degree) then my old driver. It sacrifices about 10-15 yards but lands my balls over 80% on the fairway. Haven't tried other big tag clubs, but the TaylorMade 200 club performs just like many other reviewer said for its forgiveness and consistency. Furthermore, it sure is a bargain at this price.

Model Reviewed: 200 Taylormade 10.5 S-90

Recently bought the Taylormade 200 Steel Driver while at Dick's Sports. Read the reviews about it and hit one into a net. Felt pretty good with the S-90 shaft. Settled on the S-90 shaft with 10.5 loft and have not regretted this decision. Felt the control would be better with the stiffer shaft. Observed that there are a lot of the 10.5's with R-80 shaft still available for sale, which makes me wonder about that combination. I own several different drivers and this one is the straighest of the bunch. Nice trajectory as well. I figured the price was about right to give it a chance. Best bang for your buck in my opinion. I would recommend this driver to anyone wanting more consistency in their drives without having to spend $300. I played 18 holes and was on the fairway all but three times. The one's I missed were only a few feet off the fairway. Straight and long. Really quite remarkable. Worth a look if your looking at drivers.

Great Driver for the $. Nice feel, large head witout being too large, solid feel & sound at contact. Very forgiving. Suprised at the extra distance from a basic #1 driver nock-off. Excellent quality, overall value & performance. I would highly recommend, especially higher hadicap golfers still learning the art of the swing...

this club if swung at a smooth tempo will be in the middle of the fairway about 250 yds . it will draw real nice but when you crank it i hit it to the right .so swing easy and it will be in the short grass. its longer and straighter then the 580

One of the best drivers ever made. The stock steel shaft plays stiffer than in previous Taylor models, but it is good (If you like steel). The stock graphite is no good. The best shaft I tried in this club head is the UST 75. With the UST 75 this is a super club. The 200 fairway woods were hyped, but I think that driver is the best in the series. To sum it up: unbelievable quality at a really bargain price.

THIS IS DEFINITELY THE BEST CLUB OUT THERE FOR THE MONEY. IT IS INSANELY LONG, BUT ITS BEST ASSET IS ITS CONTROL AND ACCURACY. I BOUGHT THIS CLUB ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO, BUT BECAUSE OF STUPIDITY, REPLACED IT SOON AFTER WITH A PING TiSI. BIG MISTAKE! NOW I AM DESPERATELY TRYING TO FIND A 200 STEEL DRIVER. I HAVE ALREADY BOUGHT A 200 STEEL 5-WOOD THAT I HAVE BEEN HITTING OFF EVERY TEE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF PAR 5'S. I ONLY MISSED 2 OF 15 FAIRWAYS ON MY LAST ROUND. NOT TO MENTION LENGTH! MOST OF THE TIME, ME AND MY 5-WOOD WERE THE LONGEST DUO AND DEFINITELY THE STRAIGHTEST IN MY FOURSOME. I HAVE SEEN BRAND NEW 200 STEEL DRIVERS FOR AS LOW AS $90!! YOU'VE GOT TO GET ONE OF THESE PUPPIES!!!!!!!!!

I bought this to match my 3 wood. Has a UST 65 stiff graphite shaft. Great club. Nice size head, larger without being goofy looking. Great price for a quality club. A must try. Wont correct a poor swing, but rewards a quality swing. Recommended.

I've never had problems with legnth off the tee, just accuracy. I've always thought that I could be a much lower scorer if I could just get off the tee in good position. Well, it finally happened. I purchased a 200 TM Steel Driver (S-90, 9.5)and in my first round with it, hit 12 of 14 fairways. If it wasn't for a blow up on 17 where I shot a 10, I would have finished with my lowest round ever. I would up with a 93. I 'feel' the clubhead and with that have more control, as opposed to the Ti Firesole Bubble I was using. Now it's just an expensive paperweight. I look forward to regularly shooting in the 80s now.

THESE ARE GREAT DRIVERS. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE RIGHT SHAFT FOR YOUR GAME AND GET PLENTY OF LOFT SO YOU CAN MAXIMIZE YOUR CATTY. THESE DONT BALLON THE BALL. A SOLID CLUB THAT WILL KEEP YOU IN THE SHORT GRASS. SOLID PREDICATABLE DISTANCES. I'VE HIT LONGER CLUBS BUT NONE I HIT AS STRAIGHT. FAIRWAYS HIT WITH SOLID DISTANCE EQUALS LOWER SCORES. TAYLOR MADES RIFLE SHAFTS ARE AWESOME.

I was in the market for a driver a while ago to replace my Fat Cat 2 and came across the 200 steel. The oversized titanium heads didn't appeal to me as I've always had trouble hitting those things and couldn't justify paying all that money for titanium when I knew that Taylormade and Callaway made decent steel heads that perform just as well. I bought the rifle shaft as I needed to control my dreaded slice. Although I still get the odd shot travelling far to the right, I'm happy to say it has been significantly reduced and in it's place, a little more distance. Used and abused that one for a while, liked it so much I went out and got the graphite shafted version which added about 15-20 yards with no loss in accuracy. Like everyone here says, you won't be dissapointed with this driver, it's a great bang for the buck. I now use the graphite as my game club and use the rifle as a reserve and range club (I also accidently put a small dent into the sole of this one when experimenting with tee heights at the range - still works fine)
