TaylorMade 200 Series Drivers

TaylorMade 200 Series Drivers

DESCRIPTION

Borrowing from the advanced design of its titanium cousins, the 200 Steel driver combines state-of-the-art Powerframe Technology and face-weld construction to produce the largest (275cc) and fastest COR steel driver we''ve ever developed. High-strength 455 stainless allows for thinner, lighter construction. This gives us more CAD-design freedom to expand the head size, distribute weight and optimize CG for improved trajectory.

After reading all these positive reviews I went out and bought one of these with steel S-90 shaft, 10.5degree loft. WOW! My previous driver was a TM Bubble Burner. 9.5degree. copuld'nt hit that to savemy life so i left it in the bag mostly. This new driver the 200 steel is awesome. I'm drivng well into the 270min to 330max range now wit Nike Tour Accuracy TW balls. at the moment it's 10/14 fairways hit per round which is thj same as before i purchased this driver but now I'm at least 50 ards further down the fairway. Great club. Easy to use and excellent feedback

Model Reviewed: Taylor Made 200 Series Driver, 10.5* with R80 steel shaft

I have tried many, many drivers over the past year looking for the perfect one, and have finally decided I need to keep two - the Taylor Made 200 and the Callaway Steelhead Plus. If I was forced to choose I would probably keep the Callaway, but that still doesn't stop me from giving this driver a 5 out 5 rating. I originally bought this driver in the November of 2002 - too late to test try it outdoors in Canada. But I used the indoor simulators all winter to test it against my old Integra IV and a Pure Spin driver I had also picked up. The TM 200 was the hands-down winner in all respects, and these results were confirmed in early spring when I finally got to test them outdoors. For the past three months, I've been testing this driver against a Callaway Steelhead Plus 10* with steel shaft, and I am having a such a difficult time choosing between them that I'm now thinking I will keep them both. They have different characteristics that are suited to different golf courses. The TM 200 is the most accurate and forgiving driver that I have ever hit, period! I'm keeping it because there it is the best driver I have ever found for those tight, tree-lined courses where hitting fairways is crucial to scoring well. And this club is so very easy to hit - even when I'm not playing well. Because the club is so forgiving on mis-hits, average distances are very good - but it is not a long bomber by any means .I would say I'm pleasantly surprised by my less-than-perfect hits but disappointed when I feel I've really connected. The Callaway is about 10-20 yards longer on average, and even my old Integra would outdrive it on those occasions when I hit just right. But no other driver I've tried can beat this club on accuracy and forgiverness. In summary, if you're a long bomber who struggles with accuracy off the tee then I think this is the PERFECT driver for you. You'll give up 10-20 yards on average, but be playing from the fairways. I usually hit around 220, so I need the extra distance - which is why I'm leaning towards the Steelhead Plus. But I'm keeping this one for certain courses and certain times when accuracy and forgiveness are far more important.

Customer Service

Not impressed, actually. Sent a question to their website and got no response. This club was a factory return, so it was stamped "No Warranty" - i.e., Taylor Made does not guarantee its own service and repairs?

Well, just last week i went to Dicks because my last driver that i was hitting was the Taylor Made Steel Burner, and i could not hit that worth a darn. So i figured i would look around, My eyes were set on a club, Cleveland Launcher 400cc perfect size i would crush the ball, or so i thought, but then i was lookin around on sale $99 for the TM 200 i figured i would not go back to a taylor made but i thought i would try it, i hit it beautifully i was before with the burner hitting slices hooks and not consistent but averageing about 220 yards, being 15 i figured that was good but i took this driver and my first round with it i hit 12 of 14 fairways and i now average about 250 Yards!!! i now dont have to look for another driver for a long while

Had my TM 540 for about 9 months. Could not keep it in the fairway. Maybe my swing? So was in the market for a new driver, any excuse to blame the equipment and not the player. Read so many reviews and then came across this website about the TM 200 steel driver. What the heck, it was going on ebay for $65. Tried it but did not like the stock S90 shaft. Changed to Striper J. Now it is awesome. Same swing as before but now I am playing from the "short stuff." Still want to give my TM 540 another shot since it was the latest technology. Played 2 ball golf on a monday afternoon by myself using both drivers on the same holes. No question about it, the TM 200 steel was keeping me in play. It is a bit shorter on mis-hits but still pretty straight. Another awesome thing about the driver, I can now use it "off the deck." Went driver-driver and knocked it on the green in two on a 525 yard-par 5. Wow, unbelievable. Bought 2 more to keep around since it is discontinued. Also, with the new COR limit, this is pretty close to the maximum allowed.

Best bang for the buck that I've tried. Demo'ed several of the new big sticks along with the TM200. All were OK. TM500 series works really well. But the TM200 wasn't too far behind and at only $129, versus $400 to $600+, it was an obvious choice. As other reviewers of TM200 have said before, it's like having the performace of titanium without the cost. And then checking the golfreview.com reviews and seeing how highly rated the TM200 was, it was a no-brainer that this was the club to get. I was using the Callaway Steelhead+ driver until now. The TM200 is definitely longer and more forgiving.

Just got my 200 Series Driver, 10.5 degree with S90 Rifle shaft. My driver search has now come to its conclusion. After using two component built TI/Graphite drivers and a Titleist 975J-VS and hitting many others at demo days I have found the Holy Grail of drivers. I have been struggling with the driver the last several months, so I bought a Stilleto 13 degree strong 3 off ebay for $60, it came with a DG S300. I hit it long and straight, with very good consistency, so I after reading the many good reviews of the 200 series driver I went back to ebay and bought the 200 with the rifle steel. Got it today, went to the driving range and hit a small bucket. Almost all would have been in the fairway. No slices, no hooks, most just long and straight with nice trajectory and a great sound at impact. I will look at no other driver as long as I have the strength to swing this steel head steel, shaft driver. As others have said there is a reason that this driver is rated a 4.9. I urge anyone who is contimplating a new driver to spend the $80 or so and try this driver while they're still available. You wont be disappointed.

After going through the ERC debackle I havent found a driver to compare since. I hit EVERY driver in the pro shop. In the corner was this TM 200 with a huge sky mark dent on the top of the toe! S lite shaft. what the hell. Well...I was ready to pay $379 for a TM 540 but this little gem has more control and just as long. I mean...MAYBE I could generate a little more yardage outa a Ti...for what...a lob wedge instead of a sand wedge? A 4 iron second instead of a 3? Best deal in Golf. Im now buying all TM Steel 200 drivers I can get my hands on.

Well it was sweet while it lasted. I sent it back to TM because it had a dent and the DMAN FOOLS crushed it. I loved that driver. Straight and pleasantly long, excellent in those pressure situations. Ill miss it greatly. the good news is the golf store gave me a loaner PING Si3 8* red grafalloy blue stiff and I must say this thing is just as straight and forgiving as the 200 but with a little more distance and theyve managed to hide the extra 55 ccs nicely. 5 stars is not enough for this club youll know why when it comes time to replace it
