Srixon XXIO Drivers

Srixon XXIO Drivers

DESCRIPTION

Through exhaustive research conducted at the Srixon Golf Science Center in Japan, the XXIO incorporates technology designed to eliminate the tendency of the golf ball to drift to the right, which is normally found in clubs with large heads and a long shaft. The XXIO "Auto-Turn design also significantly increases the number of times the golfer will strike a more solid shot.

I have spent the last 6 months testing drivers with a view to settling on one that felt consistant and generated some feedback. I have tried all the big market brands and of those I would have to say the Titleist 983K was the best. However I still was not completly satisfied and continued my quest for the 'Perfect' club. I stumbled on the Srixon XX10 some months ago and was bowled over. I play Callaway Series 3 Fairway Woods and love the feedback from the clubhead. I am now getting the same from the XX10 driver and at last feel in control. I tried a few specs but settled on the 10 Deg Stiff. standard shaft. this is a personal thing and depends on individual swing characteristics. I'm always suspecious that manufacturers have guys out there sending in reviews for them, especially with the amount of people driving the ball over 300 yds. (Theres room on the American Ryder Cup Team for them!!). For what it's worth this review is genuine. I love hitting the ball again and thank you Srixon.

Customer Service

Didn't need it. On a point of interest though, I sent several e-mails to Taylor Made with queries ect. Not one was replied to. They are obviously profit drived as distinct from customer driven. Pity.

Well, this is a follow on from one of the early XXIO reviews I posted when I first got this club. This club still rocks!!! Compared with the TaylorMade 320 I replaced, it is sublime. I have become more consistent as time has gone on, and have broken into the high 70's 3 out of the last 5 rounds I have played. Still not quite enough to say that I consistently break the 70's unfortunately! There is no question that you cannot reliably shoot this well without being on the fairway. The XXIO is reliable, and easy to hit consistently. The best thing is this clubs length though!!! I am a fit, tall guy (6'4", 92kg), and generate a clubhead speed of approx 110mph. Although many people on this site claim to cream over 300 yards, I actually often do, but more often will hit around 280 yd +. My longest drives with the XXIO have been well over 300 though, and although I play with some big hitters, none of my buddies have ever clearly beaten the length of the XXIO (although when one of my mates borrowed my club, he hit a pretty impressive shot!) They use other big name clubs (TM XD, GBBII, Titleist 983K), but they don't come close. I am very very happy with this driver, it will be in my bag for a long time yet...

I bough this club after reading the Golf World reviews. I first tried it in a simulator and wasn't that impressed as it's distance was simular to my Cleveland 400 Launcher. It was only when I got it on the course that I understood what all the hype is about. Every shot hit the fairway and mis hits only lost 10-15 yards but were still on the fairway (I missed one fairway all day). My regular shot is a high fade, I have struggled to replace my Titlesit 975J as all of the newer clubs exagerated my problem, with this it is gone. Shots from the centre are rewarded with a beautiful long straight drive. There are reviews here of the club feeling cheap. Yes the grip is cheap and it sounds different, but a new grip costs $9.00, where would you rather be, down the middle with a cheap feeling club or in the rough with a so-called players club? Also I am quite short (5ft 6")and the low lie angle on this club really helps. The extra inch in the shaft is unnoticable. I am so impressed I am trying to get my hands on a 3 wood and a set of irons to try.

Have had this club now for 6 months. 305cc head low COR so its not one of the illegal bombers. However, this club is probably only 5 yards short of the likes of TM XD 983k etc. The beauty of it is that it is so solid, manouverable predictable and confidence inspiring. The club is also beautifully finished. I have read other owners comments and would suggest respectfully that references to it going well only with a smooth swing would suggest that the club is giving you good feedback as all clubs respond best to smooth rythmic swings! I would agree that if you swing this beauty properly it will enable you to hit any shot you want - high low draw fade and straight. My swing speed is around 112 - 115 mph and I have tried this club with the standard shaft and with a graffalloy blue and can report good or excellant results with both. I do think however that like a lot of specialist shafts the blue is too stiff and chokes the club's performance. I have tried the Blue in both reg and stiff and have had much better results with the reg. BUT the standard shaft whilst initially feeling a bit whippy actually has a lovely crisp feeling at the tip, smoothly into the back of the ball with good acceleration and you can sense the shaft helping you. Take time to learn the characteristics of your shaft and it will stand you in good stead. Standard shaft is produced by Fujikura I am led to believe. These clubs can be had on ebay for ridiculously low sums, Im going to have a couple more as I have never used a driver that gives so much confidence. Try it you will be pleasantly surprised but give it a bit of time and let it be your friend!

This is the first review of the XXIO I am posting. I have just received the club, and only played 2 rounds with it so far. I tend to write follow up reviews after about 6 months (I wish everyone else would too once their 'honeymoon' phase has worn off!!!) Previously played a TaylorMade 320Ti. Nice club, thought I had all the length I could want, but tended to be a little erratic with it, probably hitting 30-40% fairways with it. Then my regular golfing buddy got a new TaylorMade 540XD, and easily blitzed me for distance. I looked up the stats, and tried numerous different drivers before upgrading mine. I narrowed it down to 2: The XXIO, and the Titleist 975JVS. The XXIO just feels like magic when you hit it, and the ball just keeps going! It is a very handsome driver, and give a fantastic sound on contact. I have now played 2 rounds, and have hit 70% of fairways, a huge improvement. I shot an 82 today, my lowest score ever (previous best 86). This driver is longer than any I have hit, including new TM XD's, Callaway GBB II, I even got my hands on an ERC fusion (consistent, but a little shorter than the GBB II). Titleist 983, Mizuno MP001, Nike, Wilson, you name it, I have been trying all the pro-shop could offer over the last 2 months... Today myself and my buddy tee'd off on a long par 4 (400m - or 437 yards for our American readers), and both of us smashed our drives straight down the middle... the result - his TaylorMade 540XD was a solid 16 yards behind mine...we were both using the same balls. Of interest, that drive was paced out at 315m (344 yards). The best thing was those magic words - straight down the middle... I agree that your putting and short game is where the major reduction in your handicap will occur. There's no doubt however that if you are more often than not off the fairway following your drive, you are always going to have trouble breaking into the 80's, and probably never make it into the 70's. The 82 I shot today seemed so easy when you're using wedges only for your second shots... Try as many drivers as you can before buying, but I can certainly recommend the XXIO. Longest, straightest driver I have ever hit. I look forward to posting the 6 monthly review on it. I'm getting curious about trying the XXIO 3 wood now...

I found this driver to be excellent in the feel department and it is quite forgiving given the size of the head. I found it to be straighter than my previous driver and just as long. It is also easy to hit off the deck, I have also found that a slower, smoother swing produces sweet, straight drives. I think this club would suite a lower handicap golfer or an average golfer with a consistant swing, it provides good feedback off the face. I would never have given this driver a chance if it was not for a saleman who convinced me to try it, I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. I have tried just about every driver under the sun in the last 4 weeks and I have had good and bad results. If your in two minds about what new driver you should buy, give the Srixon a bash, it might eliminate having to choose at all.

I also read the review in Golf World. When I got the club first I was enamoured with the two colour paint job ( depending on which way the sun was shining) and the mini hologram on the side. However when I tried to hit the ball with it I got a shock. I was doing what the club was supposed to eradicate, slicing the bejazus out of the ball.I nearly gave up and then noticed something that had been stareing me in the face from the beginning. 1. the shaft was almost one inch longer than other standard drivers and 2 the club felt markedly heavier than my old titleist975d. So i started swinging more smoothly and tried to put less body in the swing( shoulders arms and hands only) and voila the ball started sailing straight down the middle, a long way straight down the middle. It seems that once you swing WELL within yourself this club is good but it is not a club to force as disaster strikes very quickly . The noise it makes when it hits the ball is a bit odd but I am told this is the sound that a high COR club makes. However I have followed Tigers example and put the 975d in mothballs- just in case.

Customer Service

Excellent Nevada Bobs searched high and low to get me one and because it took two weeks to get it the Srixon rep threw in a free box of pu-ur balls with the club

I guess we all know that driving is a part of our game where we know it has to be at its best in order to appreciate the round of golf. I know the meaning of driving for show & putting for £££ "I guess it's true in many ways" but for me to have a good long game it tends to bring the best out of me for the whole round. I play off a handicap of 2 and only picked up the XXIO tour driver the other day "2nd hand ofcourse", the condition is fantastic and I could hardly tell it's been used. I had a go with it on the driving range and straight away I know that it reduces the spin which takes the flight of the ball to the right, for me its fantastic because I love to hit a draw. I cant wait for the next time I play, this driver has done it for me"WOW" what a club..oh the feel as well is unbelivable. I have always prefered the smaller headed club and feel I can manouvre the ball alot more. Thank you Srixon..

true 16 handicap whose biggest deficiency is the drive. Loved the club. Played with it twice and instantly sold my Nike 350. First full round hit 6 of 7 fairways on the front side en route to a personal best 37. Finished the round with an 83 but not due to the drives through out the round. Found I could swing easier and maintain my balance better with this club.
