Model Reviewed: Rapture Driver 12* Soft shaft

I switched from a G10 (10.5* regular) to the Rapture 12* soft in the 2008 season.

The soft shafted clus is light and it take some time to get use to it. I found it shooting very stright and boosted my confidence off the tee. The ball flight is higher due to the higher loft but not by much.

I don't seem to be drawing the ball as natural as I did with my G5 10.5*. It will require more practie time.

I've tried numerous drivers this year trying to gain some distance over my Cobra Speed LD which gave me about 200 yds (with about 190 yds carry). My swing speed is 80-85 mph. I got about 205-210 yds with my Titleist 905R (with an NVS 65-R shaft) and Cobra L4V, both with 10.5 deg of loft. My 10.5 deg Ping G5 with an NVS 65-R shaft gave me about 215 yds on average. My 10.5 deg Ping Rapture has an NVS shaft in the lighter 55-R flex and it gives me drives in the 225-230 range, more than 10 yds furthur than any other driver I have tried this year. Also, dispersion is much less than my other drivers and distance on miss-hits is still great, maybe a 10 yd loss on a toe hit. I like the feel, somewhat muted but still pleasant. It is far superior in feel than Cobra's and Callaway's composite drivers. As with all drivers, getting the proper shaft is essential. The same head with various shafts will generally feel and perform quite differently, so it is very important to get fitted and find the shaft that meets your needs and feels right. The Rapture is an excellent driver for me, long and forgiving. I highly recommend it for consideration if you are searching for a driver.

I am now 83 and my handicap is 18 and not too long ago I would shoot in the mid to low 80s but with age its a little tougher however a friend was using a Rapture driver and younger than me and a little less physical and he was out driving me about 10 to 20 yards against my G5 Ping so I asked him to let me try his driver. On our #17 par 5 my normal tee shot about 175 to 190 however with the Rapture I hit it about 220 and as soon as I got home I got on Ebay and bought a used Rapture with the hope that it will get me back to the 200+ I was hitting just a few years back. I will let you know as soon as I get the club just how it is working for me.

Model Reviewed: Ping Rapture driver 10.5*

Im pretty new to golf, yet have a natural nack for the game. my father owns Ping Raptures and so every now and again I take them down to the range. I cant quite make out why anyone would buy the driver. To me it has absolutely zero feedback. The distance i hit with a other less expensive clubs is far far greater. It doesn't inspire new players with any confidence. A Nike Sumo does the job far better. Maybe its more suited to experienced players.

Ping Rapture is very forgiving and easy to play. I bought it for my 12 yrs old son who can drive 220 yds for TaylorMade R5 driver. He want to try other driver, he try my Corbra LD 5000 but he can play easily on Ping Rapture.
I tried the Ping Rapture myself and found it much easier to hit the ball further.

Model Reviewed: Ping Rapture V2 Driver

Have tried many drivers (Nike 5900, Nakashima Htech, Cobra, Titleist 903, Cleveland launcher to name a few). The new Ping rapture V2 driver with the Diamana Blueboard is WONDERFUL! Easy to shape shots, well balanced, and LONG...VERY LONG. Put at least 15-20 yards on to my carry. Highly Recommend!!!

Just recieved my brand new Rapture V2, 9 degree with Diamana xflex. Got fitted from the tour van a few weeks ago and it's pretty sweet. I lost some swing speed after a neck surgery in June and couldn't get the performance from my Titleist 905R anymore. This Ping is very hot and amazingly easy to shape shots. I played a round yesterday and had an average pick up of 15 yards of carry distance, about 270 and it ran out to around 290. Some over 300. It seems to be far more forgiving than the Titleist as I had no missed faiways and small displacement in distances. I like it and it may stay in the bag for while. Got a G10 14 degree FW also.

Very consistent driver for me. Spins a little too much for me, but a different shaft will take care of that. Feels good at impact and has a nice balanced feel. Powerful feeling without being loud. For $160, I will take it over my G10, and my R7 TP.

Explosive at impact. makes a loud muted thwack sound. At address the crown has a traditional shape. Not as forgiving as the G10. Need to put a decent swing on this driver. Stock shaft is good. Overall a very powerful driver.

Customer Service

Ping answers emails very quickly. Club repairs on the other hand is pricey and takes long.
