Ping I3 Stainless Steel Drivers

Ping I3 Stainless Steel Drivers

DESCRIPTION

From Ping: "Applying the proven technology of the TiSI driver- including a nearly parallel top and sole, variable face thickness and custom-fit hosels- PING engineers designed the i3 Driver for golfers who prefer the size and feel of a stainless steel driver. At 198 cc, the clubhead offers workability off the tee, yet is extremely forgiving. As with all PING golf clubs, the i3 Driver is available with a wide range of fitting options."

I've only used it for one round so far, but WOW! Definitely the easiest driver I've hit so far. Take a nice easy swing and watch and hear the ball explode off the clubface!! The shorter shaft also makes it feel more like a 3-wood and it doesn't have that big-looking head. PING it HOME!

I have been extremely pleased with this club. It allows you to easily control your shots. I've also hit much longer drives than I expected with the i3. I've hit some of the best drives of my life with this club, and I've only had it a couple of weeks. I would highly recommend this club to anyone. I absolutely love it.

Having been a loyal Titleist 975D user (since 97)and never having been a Ping fan, I was quite surprised when testing clubs for a web site to discover the Ping i3 stainless steel driver. Mine is a 44 inch, 9 degree with the stock aldila 350 series cushin graphite stiff shaft. (I confess to also being a shaft snob, with a bias against stock shafts, preferring the more fashionable Grafalloys and USTs). So I hit the i3 to humor the gentleman for whom I was testing (we were testing irons actually and hit the Ping at the end of the test, just for fun). Well, three rounds and hundreds of range balls later, I am totally sold--hit the i3 much straighter than my Grafalloy shafted 45 inch 9.5 degree Titleist, with a stronger, more wind penetrating trajectory as well. The 44 inch shaft in the i3 really helps control (I still can't believe how well the stock shaft works). I have had two of my best driving rounds in years with this club (missing only one fairway each round, and getting consistently good distances, with a strong, wind-piercing trajectory).

Compared to the 975D (which I still think is an excellent driver) I have gained control, improved my trajectory, and lost no distance at all with the i3. I did try a 44 inch EI-70 in my Titleist a couple years ago, and noticed a significant loss in yardage, so the strong distance with the 44 inch i3 especially impressed me. I think all handicap ranges would love this little driver. It's easy on the wallet too. If you are wanting to hit a couple more fairways per round than you do with your 45 inch titanium driver, give the Ping i3 a try. I'm glad I did.
