Ping I3 Stainless Steel Drivers

Ping I3 Stainless Steel Drivers

DESCRIPTION

From Ping: "Applying the proven technology of the TiSI driver- including a nearly parallel top and sole, variable face thickness and custom-fit hosels- PING engineers designed the i3 Driver for golfers who prefer the size and feel of a stainless steel driver. At 198 cc, the clubhead offers workability off the tee, yet is extremely forgiving. As with all PING golf clubs, the i3 Driver is available with a wide range of fitting options."

Have played 2 rounds with this driver, and am very very impressed.Found it best to tee it lower than norm, about the height of a 5 wood.Boring trajectory,& also quite easy to hit off a good lie in the fairway as well.Purchased mine with the 2 degree upright lie with closed face, turns my slice into a fade at the worst, this alone was worth the purchase.Shaft being regular flex grahphite suits my 95 m.p.h. swing perfectly.Am not the most flexible of individuals, abbreviated swing 3/4,but still managing 240-245 yds.,& for most part, nice & straight. In summation,a wonderful stick, way to go Ping.Looking forward to rest of the season.

Picked it up a week after ordering it. Nine degree with a two degree closed face and upright lie. Took it to the range then played 14 holes with it yesterday. For the first time ever hit EVERY fairway. When I made a good swing it went straight and longer. Great feel when hit on the screws. Great control, should shave 2 strokes a round.

Customer Service

As far as ordering equipment, new irons and woods no problems, quick turnaround

Model Reviewed: Ping i-3 9 degree, stock "Stiff" shaft driver

The finest stainless steel head driver on the market today! Looks right, feels right. Over the past six months I have played with the Ping TiSi and Titleist 975D drivers. The i-3 driver is easily the most accurate of the three (due to the 44" shaft) and surprisingly distance IS EQUAL! I get a good boring trajectory and gobs of roll with this driver. I like looking at the smaller head of the i-3 compared to the TiSi. The Titleist is a nice head, but I didn't much care for the EI-70 shaft.

Customer Service

Ping is very good to work with. Always responsive and cooperative.

Model Reviewed: i3

I've been playing the i3 fairway woods (12 degree 3 wood and 17 degree 5 wood) for the past year and enjoy them very much. So I was naturally intrigued by the new i3 driver. Having taken one out on the range a few times, I have to honestly say that I'm quite impressed with this club. I'm not a player that is particularly long with the woods. I have an average swing speed and generally concentrate on maintaining a steady swing tempo with my woods. This, for the most part, keeps me out of trouble on the course. While the prospect of adding a long driver to the bag is an obvious temptation, I've learned (the hard way) that sacrificing a few yards off of the tee for increased control and accuracy is a worthwhile trade-off for someone of my skill level. This, I believe, is where the true value of the i3 lies. It is a highly controllable club that is very easy to swing. While the club head is significantly smaller than other Ti drivers, not at the expense of sacrificing any measurable forgiveness in my opinion. I hit a few off of the toe and only noticed a marginal loss of distance while still maintaining good direction. As an added testing variable during one of my outings, I was hitting into a rather stiff breeze and was greatly impressed at how the club keeps the ball down. The trajectory is true to a 9 degree lofted club. On the whole, distance was slightly above average for me. The added role (around 15-20 yards) helps offset a small loss of carry. I went with the stock stiff shaft with the closed standard lie setup. I've read how several people out there dislike the stock Aldila shaft because they find it too soft. There may be some truth to that for those who's swing speed is over 100 mph. In my case, the shaft performs well (my speed is around 90-95 mph). I find it quite responsive and have no complaints. I've tested this club enough to believe that it is a worthwhile investment in my game. While it may not be the longest club out there, it is a club that will help keep you out of trouble from the tee box.

Great driver!!!! Second time I played with it I hit all fairways except one. As long as the VFT or 320 Taylor. I feel the quality is much better for the money. Head size is smaller, length of shaft is shorter much easier to control then longer shafted drivers. Sounds and feels great. I found my swing!!!!!

This driver is at best average. It doesn't get good distance and isn't really that cheap. I off of the fairway but that's it. I recomend spending a little mre and getting the Mizuno Driver.

Model Reviewed: i3 9 degree w/stiff graphite shaft

I purchased this club about 5 weeks ago. I have probably played 15 rounds of golf with this club. Every round I become more comfortable with this driver. On Monday of this week I broke 80 for the first time, and this driver was one of the reasons I did so. Although I'm not a big hitter, it is not unusual for me to hit this driver 230 to 240 yards. The main thing is that I am consistently in the short grass, and long enough to have a chance at par (or birdie). Since I bought this club I have been trying other drivers see if I can get more distance, but have found only one driver that comes close for me (the Orlimar HipTi). If you are looking for a driver that will give you decent distance and keep you in the short grass, I recommend that you try the PING i3. This is an excellent driver and an excellent value. Please note that the stiff graphite shaft is more of a firm regular rather than stiff.
