Horrible, horrible, horrible. Cannot state that enough. I purchased a 9* Adila NV stiff shafted G5. I went through the process of launch monitor fitting. I cannot stop the ball from going left. Not a prayer. My scores differ by as much as 20 strokes higher over 18 holes when I play the G5 with the current shaft. Last round I shot 94, snap hooking 6 tee shots OB. May try different shaft. Anybody want to buy it? Price negotiable! I'm going back to my Mizuno Pro 300s.

The bottom line is that you will hit more fairways with this driver.

I track fairways hit, GIR, and putts to see what I need to work on most. I am hitting 3 more fairways per round on average with this club. And I'm not even counting the balls that are just off the fairway.

This club is so forgiving. Sure, you can still launch one into the woods if you put a lousy swing on it, but those seem few and far between.

I have always had a low launch, so I bought a 12 degree driver with Graffaloy Prolaunch blue shaft, and now my launch angle is perfect and I'm hitting the ball about 250 to 280 consistently.

I am now confident standing on the tee box when I never was before. My short game still needs work, but golf is a lot more fun when hitting wedges into the green from 80-100 yards out!

Well...before I played the Ping G5 driver and fairway woods, I was a callaway man; I had a Callaway Hawkeye VFT 9 driver. One of my friends introduced me to the G5 series from Ping. The driver is INCREDIBLE. I get tremendous distance, even when I dont give a full swing, and still get tremendous results. The G5 fairway wood is the most forgiving fairway wood that I have ever used...I get decent distance, whether I use a full swing or 3/4...I've noticed with the G5 series driver and fairway woods that ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS MAKE CONTACT, u dont even have to use a full swing to get good distance.
This is just an amazing series.

Switched from the R7 Draw to the Ping G5 and I enjoy the game so much more. I could not find the sweet spot on the R7. Many drives felt dead and I was constantly popping ball up. My swing speed is just under 110 and I found the Aldila Stiff perfect. Able to consistently get 260-270 carry a good 20-30 more than I was getting on the R7. It sets up nice as well. I heartily recommend this club. Recommend trying all 3 different shafts and seeing what one feels best.

I'm 14 years old and 5'10, as a little kid i always went to the driving range and hit it well, with my r7 i had about 215 carry and 30-50 roll. I was excited to play when i got this club because driving is my strength. I lost about 75 yards carry and stayed the same is roll. Also this club is very inconsistent.
I played with my dad and he was like "whats wrong with you" i let him, who is a 4 handicap and a hell of a tee-ball player, try it out, he carried about 170 and got 20 yards roll. That was the worst round of my life and shot a 135, so about month later, i traded it in and fell in love with my Callaway X460, that is one hell of a club.I instantly carried around 220 and got 30-50 roll and shot a 99.

I'm not here to tell you that you will hit 300 yard plus drives with the Ping G5 Driver. But I will tell you through my experience with this club, and keep in mind I work at a Golf Store, so there's nothing I haven't tried, that this club is an awesome driver. But, I found a secret with this club.

If you noticed that when DiMarco and others on tour were playing this driver, and some still are, they had put the ProForce V2 shaft in that club. After a while, it caught onto me that there must be something to that shaft in this head.

So I gave it a try. It's the best shaft/head combo I've EVER seen. I'm a high ball hitter, usually launch the ball around 14-15 degrees, which is to high for my swing speed which is at 113.

With this club I'm now launching the ball at 10-12 degrees.

Also, I cut it down to a D0 swingweight, which is where I think it should be at. Standard with this club is D4, but if you cut it down to around 45'' it should be alright.

The V2 Shaft I put in there was the 67g Stiff flex shaft. I would recommend this shaft for anyone, it plays a little stiffer than most in this head.

Hope this helps!

I just bought a ping g5 driver a week ago. I played it for the first time on sunday, my goal is to shoot in the 90s. My round was going ok driving wise but poor putting led me to 96 starting the 18th par4 340 yds. I knew what I had to do, birdie. I took a deep breath, stayed relaxed and unleashed the most powerful shot I have ever hit so far, drove the green, had a put for eagle staying short and made the birdie, 99. This driver is awesome, easy to hit, I can see myself shooting in the 80s pretty soon because this thing will give me eagle chances on short par 4 plus make par 5 reachable in 2. I love it, can't wait to play again next week end. What a feeling to walk down the fairway realizing your ball is on the green.

Contrary to a past reviewer, I have found this club to be the easiest club I have ever swung.

Went from an 11 hcp. to a 7 in two months.

Stiff shaft with a soft tip makes it very easy to figure out. Occasionally, I have actually gotten 240 yards out of what looked and felt like a pop-up.

Okay... This driver has ruined my golf game like no other club could have done. I am a scratch golfer. When I was using my TM r7 425 tp, my average drive was around 280 and I often broke par. With the G5, which I had reshafted with a Bimatrix X flex, my average drive is maybe 230 with a vicious hook. Yesterday I shot 49 on the front nine and 32 on the back. The G5 was firmly planted in the bag on the back. I don't recommend that anyone, regardless of skill, ever try this driver.

I'm writing this review as my driver is for sale on eBay. I know that sounds strange, add to the fact that I am giving it a good rating (not the best) and it makes you wonder why I'm getting rid of it.

Well, that isn't an easy question to answer but my biggest problem with the club is its consistency and I know its more the Indian than the arrow, but follow me for a second.

I love the feel of the club when you make solid contact and its long, as long as anything I've ever hit, but I purchased the club with the wrong shaft in it as it puts too much spin on the ball for me with my 110 mph swing speed. When I tempo my drives I usually get the best distance which is about 285-295, but I have a problem keeping good tempo and tend to roll my wrist to quick and get a not-so-desirable strong draw / baby hook. That's fine if you know its coming.

As far as the actual club is concerned, I think its about as good as you can buy for $200-$250. But its not as technologically advanced as some other drivers on the market such as Taylor Made drivers and even the Exotics driver from Tour Edge.

Even though I generally shoot between 73-76, I still like the ability to set up my club for whatever swing shows up and this club doesn't allow me to do that. Still a good club and you can work the ball right to left or left to right, but I'm willing to fork out $450+ for a better driver like the r7 tp.

Overall good driver (hence the 4 rating), but not the most consistent I've ever hit. If your in the market for a cheap driver (around $200), this is probably a good club for you but get fitted for the proper shaft before buying anything.
