Mizuno 300 S 10* Blue Face
Although I just had my best driving round ever earlier this week with my Hawkeye Pro series, long and consistent, I saw this baby used, with the famous blue face, meaning it's the rarer import model that everyone raves about, so I said why not? First, the feel is easily the best of any driver I've ever hit. Soft impact, with a surprisingly generous wide sweetspot, better in both respects than its brother the Mizuno Forged or any of the others I've listed above. But we don't shell out this kind of dough for feel alone, do we? I've taken it out to the range twice: let's just say I don't know how much farther it hits for sure, because I couldn't see many of them land. The ball just becomes a BB in the air before disappearing. I know it was easily 20 yards past my Hawkeye Pro Series, on the fly, maybe more. Mid boring flight. The stock Accel Arc shaft it came with sucks on this model, though, too. Way too much torque causes inconsistencies. I plan to re-shaft with a ProForce or Penley and I'm sure it's gonna be more consistently awesome. This model is really expensive, and is for someone who really has the equipment bug and can rationalize the extra $200. But a great acquisition for someone who appreciates the soft feel and explosive distance. I don't know how the new silver face model performs, but it's rumored not up to that of the painted face. I was not impressed with this club. I can't put my finger on it but it may have had something to do with the shaft. Similar Products Used: Titleist 975d, Ping ISI |

Believe it or not I replaced a Ping ISI 7* with a 10* Pro 300S and couldn't be happier. Replaced original Mizuno stiff shaft with UST Proforce 6.5 which makes a big difference in the ball flight and control. This is the best driver I've ever played. More forgiving than you would expect, but with great length. Pricey, no doubt about it, and very very hard to find )only on ebay or by waiting for a three month back order) but well worth the money. Because of the price, my value rating is lower that it otherwise would be. I'm a 4 handicap and would not recommend this club for 15's or above. Just love this driver. It is long off the fairway and straight. I hit with the stock regular shaft and have never been straighter. I dropped my handi from 9 to 4.7 with the help of 2 months of solid practice and new irons (maxfli australian blade). I notice with the regular shaft and a smooth consistent swing I am not slicing the ball i used to with my ping isi harrison stiff shaft. Not going into water really helps your score. Love my driver, definitely. Similar Products Used: None |

The best Feeling driver I have ever hit. Titleist 975D had the best feel for me prior to this one. A shaft upgrade is very necessary if you are a stronger player who already hits a draw. Mine had the Accel-arc Pro shaft in it with 3.8 degrees of torque, which is just to high for me. I will be reshafting with either a Prolite Elite or similar and offer a refiew after that. Best features of this driver are its clean apperance at address, great solid feel (like a 1,000 pound sledge hammer crushing the ball), and very consistent shot trajectory and shape. It was like hitting it on a frozen rope in the sky, shot after shot. Rating at 4 stars because of the price they command and the need to spend $$ to upgrade the shaft, other wise it's a real winner. I have the 10 deg. Similar Products Used: None |

Awesome club, but definitely a player's club. If you can't put a good swing on the ball every time, Ping Tisi might be a better option. But when you hit this club well it treats you right. VERY long and easy to shape shots. Also good if you need to control trajectory in the wind. Just an awesome club. Similar Products Used: 975D |

This is the best driver I've ever tried. Some have mentioned the sound/feel which I love becuase it reminds me of my days with persimmon. The head design even resembles the old MacGregor George Bayer. I agree that the stock shaft, even the upgraded one, should be replaced. I'm presently using a PF 65 which is OK but am getting ready to switch to a Fujikura. This driver is long, also. It has a deep face and I think most who try it would have more success with the 10 degree version. Similar Products Used: Ping TiSi, Orlimar Plus, Titleist 975 and many others |

The drive sets up pretty well and is very clean. The distance was loner than the 975D, and a bit longer than the Ping Tisi. But seems a little shorter than the Taylor Made 320. One big problem I had with the club is the feel. In my opinion, it feels a little dead compared to the other drivers. And for me feel is very important to me.
