What a great club, has a very solid and fairly lively sound as opposed to other composite/titanium drivers I've tried. The design is very traditional, but this driver performs best in accuracy - distance is not a problem as well. I have this in the Aldila NV-65 R shaft and it is a joy to hit, never tried Mizuno products before but there were some great deals on Ebay. The black finish gives it a smaller appearance than 400cc. I read that the MP-001 fairway woods are also great so I might compliment this driver with a 3 wood. This is a simple no frill driver packed in all the latest driver technology. You should at least try this driver if you are in the market for a 400cc type driver.

Model Reviewed: mizuno mp-001 460 9.5 w/ graffaloy prolunch blue 65s stiff flex

this is with out doubt the best driver i have ever used. the shaft is the perfect flex for my swing speed. my old driver was the callaway steelhead plus 8*. this thing went long. when is was 13 I would swing the club about 100 mph and i could hit this club 285 yards on a good hit. this club had a 205cc club head. I had hit a few other drivers with the large club heads but i hated them. I tries the mizuno and i was amazed with the forgiveness and by now my swing had reached about 110. so for my birthday i got the mizuno mp-001 460 and im getting 285 on off center hits. in december i hit the longest drive of my life of 330 yards.

Model Reviewed: MP-001 400cc NV Stiff 10*

I though I'd never write a review for any product but the MP-001 just deserves some true recognition. I've owned or tested Cobra, Taylormade 320, 540 R5& R7, Ping TisiTec, Callaway BB and this golfer can honestly say the Miz is awesome. By far longer than any club I ever had. I was not sure to get the 9* or 10* model (been using 8.5 TisiTec)but the combination of the Aldila NV65S shaft and 10* loft is a sure winner with my swing speed (100-110). Thanks to the Miz I'm hitting last in the fairway again. Try it and your hooked!

Model Reviewed: MIZUNO MP-001 (400cc)

Great feeling and Great looking driver. It has the ceramic look of the Callaway ERC fusion, but more classic with a bluish hue to it. I have the 9 degree with Graffaloy Prolite 45 Regular flex. My swing is smooth and club head speed regularly 92-95 mph. This club has great feedback, but excellent forgiveness and about 15-20 yards more distance. I had a Cleveland 330 (9.5 degree stiff) and had the Ping Si3 (8 degree) with a Graffaloy Prolite regular. The Ping had the trajectory but no distance. The Cleveland had the direction and distance, but didn't max the distance b/c of poor trajectory and no roll. My typical distance was 240-245. With my Mizuno loft and shaft combo, I get about 260-265 consistently due to the proper ball flight and forgiveness. I've rolled some close to 285-300 and I can work the ball which I couldn't before. Tried the 983E & 983K ,but felt I needed to swing hard. Same feel with the Taylor made. Cleveland 400 is solid, but it ballooned up like my launcher 330. The Mizuno is great looking, but doesn't look as big as the other 460's like the PING G2 or the R5. I didn't think Mizuno could make a driver this good and good looking. It matches my Mx-23 irons. What a combo & what confidence !!! Shouldn't be long until my handicap breaks into the single digits !!!

Very good driver for anybody who golfs, this club looks good feels good and just plain out makes you feel like you can hit good shots with it.I paid $200 for mine and I cant believe that I dont see more people with this driver.I wont sit here and tell you that I am now hitting 330 yard drives like some other people on this site do because I dont and thats just not realistic.I have the stiff aldlia nv shaft that I find to be a very good combination with the head.Dont waste your money on all these taylormade gimmicks that cost $400 or any other club that cost that much when you can get this driver for around $200.I have played with ping isi taylor made 540 callaway bb2 and Titleist 975 jvs and I can ohnestly say this is by far the best I have hit,if you want a good, solid and traditional looking club with good forgiveness and good distance just go buy this driver YOU WILL LOVE IT !!!!

Model Reviewed: MP-001 10Degree NV 65 Stiff

I have played the MP-001 for a complete season now and have been very impressed with this driver. I've tried a number of drivers, but I have found the perfect driver that will be in my bag for awhile. The look of the head is traditional and it just gives you confidence to hit it in play consistently. The Aldila NV shaft is a real nice compliment to this club due to the clubs relatively flat trajectory. The NV has the perfect kick point for this clubhead. The trajectory is flat and boring with plenty of roll. My guess would be that players with a 16 handicap and below would find this a real nice alternative to the Titleist 983.

Model Reviewed: MP-001 8* NV 85 X

This is the 8 deg. 400cc head (the 8's are out there, not many, but a few). I'm coming off a couple years with a 983E 7.5. The mizuno hits the ball flatter (not lower, but flatter) and has a bigger sweet zone. That's it. Distance about the same, maybe a tad longer due to the better trajectory on the Mizuno. And the feel - well that's personal preference isn't it. The Miz is a tad more muted, but still let's you know what's happening. I'm quite pleased with the Miz and very impressed with the ball flight it produces (I'm usually very high launch and struggle with keeping the ball low / flat). As for the shaft - it plays a tad bit stiffer than an EI70 X, probably due to the stiff tip and higher kick, but it feels like it has more "kick". I like it. My advice - try what's out there. Everyone is different, but this set up works very well for me. As for value, less than 150 near-new works for me too! Good luck.

Model Reviewed: Mizuno MP 001 460cc

The largest of the MP Drivers, the 460cc head is one of 2005's best. Not many people think about buying Mizuno Drivers because they see that R7, and Titleist K sitting right next to most racks. Most opt to buy the R7 for all it's hype. Others choose to buy what their friends have, which is the Titleist K/Aldila NV. Let me be the first or second to say that I have the R7 and have hit my buddies K driver. Both do not, and cannot outdrive the MP 001 460cc. If your the golfer who likes the sound of the R7 or the Cobra, you will not like this driver. This driver is forged and made for one thing, hitting long drives. It's has a distinct thump when hit, and a huge sweetspot. I have, in 3 days, gained 20 yards on drives.

Model Reviewed: MP-001 9° Grafalloy Prolite 35 S Shaft

What a great bat!!! I used a Callaway ERC at the start of the year and was horrified when it broke just as the season was about to begin. After receiveing a replacement club from the good people at Callaway, which was no good for me (A GBBII) I sold it and made my way straight to my local Golf Store where I tried 4 versions of the MP-001. The club was pretty good in all configurations but I finally settled on the Grafalloy because of the great launch angle I was getting. I really think this driver could be the key to knocking that last couple of shots off. Drives are now nice piercing shots with just a bit of draw averaging about 285 and smooth with it. Not the distance eating machine that my ERC II was but much nicer feeling and easier to control. I thoroughly recommend this club for all golfers looking for a nice, legal, accurate driver. Not a great choice if distance is your sole aim but great for guys who dont mind sacrificing a few yards for consistency.

Model Reviewed: Mizuno MP-001 400cc 10* w/ Exsar 60 Regular Shaft

My first review of this club was in April, 2004. I also recently tried the MP-001 370cc 8.5* and the new MP-001 460cc 9.5* in search of more distance. Both of these had Aldila NV Stiff and Regular flex respectively. My best drives still come from the 400cc 10* w/ Exsar 60g R flex. The Aldila NV shaft is heavier at 67g and quite stiff even in the R flex. It was more difficult to square the clubhead at impact for a slower swing speed. The Exsar60 shaft with its mid kick point delivers a straighter and more parabolic trajectory with slower swing speeds. The 8.5* 370cc may have provided a more boring flight with more roll on flush shots, but was less forgiving with off center shots resulting in loss of distance. The maximum 460cc head is more difficult to keep on plane and lacks the satisfying sound at impact of the 400cc. Now this 400cc club is much more affordable due to the introduction of the 460cc head as well as numerous other composite drivers hitting the market. Very much an underrated club. Golfers of all skill levels should be made more aware of the Mizuno MP-001 driver.
