I usually shoot in the High 70's to low 80's and have done so for about 30 years. 70's scores are usually achieved when I drive well, driving is my weakness where pitching, chipping and putting are almost Pro standard. Therefore I have experimented with NUMEROUS drivers over the passed years, too many to count and name. I tend to stick to the upper class brands mainly because re-sale value is so good. I have never tried MacGregor clubs previously, but people my age (52)who played golf in the late 70's and early 80's would recall that the original eye-o-matic wooden Persimmon driver was pretty much a "top of the market" club, I think Jack NICKLAUS used one, anyway, I saw this particular driver on ebay advertised 49.95 brand new with headcover. I thought well, why not, it cant be any worse than anything else I have used. I have used it now 5 rounds in a row and shot around my handicap (7) each time and strangley enough haven't had a double bogey yet. This is mainly due to reasonably consistant driving. This is the BEST driver I have ever owned. I cant explain why, I swing it and it goes pretty straight most of the time with good distance. The smaller head didn't seem to matter and I love the "dinging" metal sound it makes on contact. I am extremely happy with this driver, You may be too. All I can say is that different clubs DO make a difference, it is up to you to experiment and find out what suits you. Parting word: Don't make the price dictate your choices.

Just coming back from the range and a few holes course, trying to find a new driver to replace my old big fat M38 Eye-o-matic. What a foolish man : just hit a dozen drives with the new TMsuperfast and all I would say is what a slicing little painted stick ! I'm afraid I have to keep for several more years my good old MacGregor, so accurate, so long, and that incredible asoundishing bang when it hits the ball. I'm in love with that wizard driver, and I got the 3 and 5 woods too, in stiff and reg. They're just as good as the big guy and will be my best friends till I reach the scratch level.

I just got back from the golf store and the co-owned driving range. The store will let you take a few clubs over to the range to try out (pretty nice). I am looking for a good used driver, as I do not need to spend a lot of money. I tend to hit the ball high, so I thought I'd try out some low-loft options. I took my old/current King Cobra 10.5*, a TaylorMade R510 8.5*, a Titleist 975J 7.5*, a Callaway X460 9*, and a MacGregor M38 8.5*. I have been researching clubs a bit lately, and I almost didn't pick up the MacGregor in the store because it's name didn't impress me (yes, I'm shallow). I hit my Cobra first, then the TaylorMade, the Titleist, the MacGregor, and then the Callaway. Hands-down the Macgregor was longer and straighter for me than any of the other clubs were. I only hit a few shots with each club (about 5), and I did not hit a single slice with the Macgregor. I know it's not a large or scientific test, but if first impressions mean anything, I'll likely be buying the used MacGregor in two weeks on my birthday. I may pick one up on ebay before then. The golf store has one $79 and will likely come down a little, but these clubs are really inexpensive on ebay!

This club is pretty dominant. It goes massively far and is really loud. =A lot of people say they don't like the loudness but I don't mind a bit. I used to hit the ball about 200 yards, but now I am easily hitting it 230. I bought the club off of ebay new for $21 but hit definitely hits better than the price says

was looking for a driver as my callaway 454 was giving me an inconsistant performance. read all the driver reviews and purchased this soley on the review. what a great decision!! just took it to the course and buzzed around just hitting off the teeoffs. hit about 5-6 ball per hole off the tee and once you got used to the hollow sound it makes, it goes a long way. the sweetspot is fairly large and even a miss hit will go pretty well. the club looks good and sets up very well. the consistancy/straightness is what really is nice. ball flight is long and straight. i'm 54 years old and shoot in the high 70's to low 80's but have struggled this year getting off the tee. from what i can tell, my golfing buddies aren't going to be happy with my
$45.00 purchase. just looking at the same eye o matic 3 wood to purchase. sure happy so far and can't beat the price for the performance!!!

I have been playing golf for about 2 years now. My biggest strenght is driving. Until i got this driver i was playing a Taylor Made Ti Bubble 2 Driver. I got about 210 average with 230 as a really good shot. My dad and i had tried the eye-o-matic 3 wood and bought it. we loved it so much my dad bought the driver. on e-bay it cost $60 including shipping.Mine is a 10.5 degree with the stock shaft in Regular flex. Of all the drivers ive owned, and tried this one has been the best. I consistently hit 240 -250 average in my drives with about 4 out of 10 going 280 or more. I even managed to hit a few 300+ drives recently. With my old clubs i sliced the ball almost 50% of my shots but this club has reduced that to about 10%. The sound this club makes is great in my opinion. Its very loud, but i like that.

I play maybe 20 rounds a year so I need most bang for buck when I go out. One word about this driver: long. Ok, two words: very long. Now, if only I can get my short game & putting up to speed...
