Golf Gear Tsunami Model GG340
I was looking for an improvement in my Driver. I had a Yonex Rekin Super 03 and an Adams SC that I alternated between. However, I was not hitting either driver consistantly. My longest drives were about 225 to 240 yds, but most drives were inconsistant and disappointing. I started taking various Demo clubs out for a round. I tried the Taylor Made 360 & 320, the Cobra 350, The Ping Tsi, The Callaway ERC, and the Golf Gear 340cc. I liked the Taylor Made 360 and Golf Gear the best, so I took both of them out to play a round by myself on a quiet mid week afternoon. I had the luxury of hitting two drives on each par 4 or par 5 hole--one with each of the drivers. I had good results with both, but the Golf Gear was 10 to 15 yds longer on most of the holes. I also liked the way that if felt better. I also like the way that it looked at address. SO, I went for it, I got myself a new Golf Gear. I was so excited that the very first ball that I hit with my own new Golf Gear driver was off the first tee. and. it was my best drive ever..it went over 285 yds. With my Golf Gear I now seem to get 235 to 265 yds out of most drives. I am also lucky to hit a couple of booming 280+ yd drives when I really crush it. I do not know what they do to make this thing feel so good and hit so long, but it works! It may be expensive, but after factoring the cost differential into the pleasure/performance factor, it was easy for me to rationalize the purchase. Golf Gear Tsunami 300 cc DF
I must admit to having tried just about everything out there, and buying several drivers over the past 3-4 years, each one showing a little bit of improvement over the last one, but this one just blows away anything I've ever hit by a huge margin. I was just looking out of curiosity at the new drivers for the year, and was reasonably content with my Cleveland Launcher. I tested the Ping Tec, the Nike 350, the Cobra SS 350, the Titleist 975 D and J, and had previously owned the Adams SC, Taylormade 320 Ti, and the Orlimar Hip Ti. After a round of comparison testing at a range, I had concluded that I was still better off with the Launcher; reasonably long and quite forgiving. None of the previous clubs were longer, and only the Cobra equalled the forgiveness of the Launcher, in my mid-handicap hands. Then the same day I went to another range and demo'd the Tsunami 300 cc DF. I was flying the ball past where the Launcher stopped rolling, again and again, AND, it was straighter. Part of the difference was that I was using a 46" shaft instead of a 45", but part was the club. I ordered one on the spot, but the company mailed me a 45" shaft instead. I tried it, and it was still about 10-15 yards longer than the Launcher, but not the mind-boggling diference I had seen on the range. I reshafted it with the Harrison FL 60 3.5 46" regular flex, and the magic was even better. LONG drives, and a tighter dispersion pattern than I've ever had. I am not kidding; my drives average 240-260 yards now, instead of 210-220, AND they are straighter. If I swing too hard, I can still get an ugly duck hook or a high right, but with an smooth 80-85% swing, the results are phenomenal. The face I have is a 9 degree, and is square, with no draw-inducing/fade preventing closure. I was afraid I'd slice or fade like mad, because all previous drivers I've had had 1-2 degrees of face closure, but this is the straightest driver I've ever hit by far. Hits off-center still get good distance (about like my previous "good" drives with other drivers), but a really sweet drive can go into 260-280 range for me, a 49 year old with a 95 mph swing. I just can't say enough good things about this club. The only other club I've ever hit that was as long was the KZG, but it wasn't anywhere close to as forgiving or consistent. Demo the Tsunami if you can, and you won't be disappointed. Customer Service Sent me the wrong shaft length from what I ordered, but I like the replacement better than what I ordered.
