I'm a decently long hitter, usually 250-270 with a pretty consistent mild fade to slice. Had been using a used TM 200 steel with an extra stiff ProForce shaft, but the head flew off the club one day. Tried the Cobra, Adams Redline, and a few others (selection was limited since I'm left handed) and I always came back to the Cobra. I'm still trying to figure out the proper setup for this club, but I seem to be hitting straighter than my old driver. Plus I don't have to swing as hard, nice and easy puts it out there about 260-270. I did get a hold of a few the other day and had a couple of 300 yard drives. I find if you swing easy with this club it will reward you. Highly recommended. King Cobra SS 427 Driver
I had my eye on this club for awhile and finally, broke down and bought it. I have been looking for a driver for me as a high handicapper. My home course is long with many trees. I shoot roughly 100 on my home course and around 95-100 on other's in town. A guy I played a few holes with one afternoon let me hit his and I split the fairway in two on my one shot with his Cobra 427. That was the final straw. So i bought it and have enjoyed playing with this driver the couple of weeks I've had it. It has really straigtened out my drives for the most part. I was a generally a major slicer and this has really helped though I do occasionally slice the heck out of one with this club or even pull one occasionally. This club has really helped me enjoy golf more. My distance hasn't really changed all that much. I might be hitting it 10 yards further then before but accuracy is up. I'm not in the fairway every time, but often very handy. Today I hit 7 of 12 fairways with it and was just a few steps off in the rough on two other holes with four holes I was way off target which is a major improvement for me. I played today with a low handicapper who wanted to try it so I let him hit it. He hit it 285. I asked how far he hits his Ping and he said about 285. But he did say he thought it was a good driver. I hit my Cobra SS 427 between 190 and 225. Closer to 200 usually but have been splitting fairways in two much more often. I've put the 3 wood away for tee shots for the most part as this club has done the job. It's no miracle worker, I'm not suddenly hitting it 80 yard or even 25 yards further then my other driver. But I do like it. I do wish they'd of toned down the noise it makes on contact some. You make a big old ruckus and then I go to my 210 yard drive. But it's a minor issue. The Club looks great and I'm hoping for even more as I get used to it. For this high handicapper, it's made golf more enjoyable and that's all I can ask. I can call off the Driver search, thank heavens! Customer Service I haven't had to use CS. Cobra SS427
I have owned and played this club for a year. Although my drives still are far from perfect, the SS427 is beyond a doubt the easiest hitting, longest and most forgiving driver I have tried (and my golf friends will confirm I've tried them all!). The Cobra is 5-10 yards longer than my Callaway, and far more forgiving. I keep trying other drivers, but end up back playing the Cobra. Try it-you'll like it! Ok, With this club I have shot long drives, 270-290 meters a few times but I can not say that this club is the best choice. 1.Towards the wind the high shots looses about 30% of distance. It´s also difficult to produce the low penetrating shots to avoid the wind. 2. The shaft is to long, can´t see the same consistency as with a club with shorter shaft..Wonder why none of the PGA pro:s uses a 46 inch shaft? 3.The sound is just horrible. 4.I have (thanks to the long shaft?) shot some horrible slices, (my normal shot is a draw) and also seen some quick hooks so I don´t share the magical feeling of "hitting every fairway" or "only straight shots" as other 80s and many 90s shooters in the reviews. Again. It is possible to make long shots with no wind or wind in the neck but this club is not a club to relay on in all conditions. I have tried many many drivers from the Adams, Callaway, Taylor Made, Nike and Dunlop and nothing hits as long or as acurately as the Cobra 427 SS Stiff. I have a swing speed of 120 MPH and constantly drive the ball 300 yards or more. My friend has a swing speed of 90 MPH and also hits the Cobra very long. BEST DRIVER I'VE EVER TRIED BY FAR! |

Finally got a chance to demo this baby after reading so many good reviews here. To make a better evaluation, my friend took a Titleist 983K out for demo also. We hit some balls on the range and then hit the links. Summary of the test drive as follows: 1. SS 427 is long and straight but only a few yards longer than my Snake Eyes Pro COR. Off center hits, though, seems to be more forgiving than the Snake and distance is not severely penalized. The 983K is a solid performer but I do seem to get more distance out of the 427 than the 983K, both on solid and mis hit shots. 2. The sound generated by the 427 is unbelievably loud and it sure made a lot of people at the driving range look where it's coming from. It's a powerful sound though as if to signify that you really unleashed a bomb. The 983K has a more muffled sound that resembles that of a wood. One way or the other the big sound from the 427 did not bother me at all. 3. The slightly closed face (or is it just my perception) made me adjust my setup so the ball is a little closer to the center as opposed to the right heel when I set up with my Snake. After I got this figured out I began to hit shots straighter instead of a slight pull. I normally play to a fade on my Snake and that account for about 20-30 yards of lost yardage. I still fade a little on the SS427 but it seems to go farther. As for the 983K, my shot pattern is inconsistent. That doesn't mean that the 983K is an inconsistent club, it just did not fit my swing. 4. I have to agree with the rest of the reviewers that the headcover is an ugly one. It didn't fit the club head very well. Conclusion: I think I will be buying the SS427. I would have done so by now if not for my car breaking down so it may have to wait a little while. This club will help me get more yardage (10-25 yards longer) than my old Snake Eyes which will translate to a shorter iron shot. It is more forgiving and mis hit shots still give good yardage. Drawback is the loud sound generated at impact - but it does not bother me. P.S. - I may have to demo a 9* Regular (I have about a 90 MPH RSSR)to see if I can get more distance and a lower trajectory. Every now and then it can get windy here in East Texas and the high traj of the 10.5* maybe a cause for lose of yardage. Customer Service don't have to deal with them yet. This is one sick driver. It took me a small bucket at the range to figure out how to hit it. It is offset, so I had to bring the ball back in my stance a bit. Not my usual setup. Once I did, OMG. This club makes a crack like a bullet hitting steel. Everyone at the range kept turning, almost in annoyance at the sound. Then they were watching my shot. 240-325 yds, depending on how much force I put on the down swing. After that, I had to let several people (regulars at that range) try it. They all were getting the same results. And we all have different swing styles. Every ball I hit was within 10 yds of center line + or -. Demo this driver, then buy it. I got it off the used rack at Golfdom, with the stickers still on it (it was unused, not sure why it was there), for under $200 ($255, then sale at 30% off used clubs). Buy it, buy it, buy it. I think I'll be under 80 within a few rounds! Yeah baby!!!! Customer Service Haven't had to use it yet. Did email them for a headcover though. No response yet, only been 2 days. I love this club. I'm hitting fairways with it and going deep - what else could you ask for? The rare combination of freaky long distance and outstanding control makes this driver a no-brainer. The amount of noise this driver makes is annoying, but it's a small price to pay for unbelievable drives. This club has a very large head, and I find that it helps to use extra long tees. read some reviews about the club all good. I'm 15 and shoot in the low 80's. on the first hole I hit about a 320 drive right down the middle. Sand wedge to the green and made birdie. Nice club |
