Model Reviewed: King Cobra SS 350 Driver 10.5

The driver is the worst club in my bag. I used to have the Taylor Made Original Burner Bubble driver, but I could never hit it well. I think the "bubble" was just a big scam anyway. However, it took me 6 years to figure that out! So when the time came, i.e. I graduated from college and received congratulation money, I decided to purchase a new driver. The driver was the one club in my bag that was holding me back. My friend always told me, "If you ever get control of your driver, you'll be scary." But it hadn't happened yet. So I went out looking for clubs, determined not to give into the "big headed", titanium monstrosities that are currently on the market. After looking through every single brand of club, I found that really only Callaway makes a decent steelheaded driver. Having my Bubble for as long as I did made me hate Taylor Made's 200 series clubs, for some reason all of TM's woods seem to be weighted similarly and none of them suit my game. Anyway...I was in a rut until my other friend showed me his new King Cobra driver. I hit it on the course for an entire round even though he had the wrong shaft flex. Despite that, I really found it to be a great club. So I put it up against similarly priced clubs (TM 300 series, Callaway, Titleist) and found that for my game it was the best fit. The club face is not overly huge at 350 cc, and it is weighted perfectly for me so I can think "Kill It!" on the tee and still feel where the club head is through the swing. On a side note, my friends and I have deemed my swing with the driver a "Rage Swing." When your mad as hell at the triple bogey you had on the last par three, you can step up to the plate and fire all your anger into this club. This club helps me achieve that because I can try to kill the ball and it will go straight and long. The grooveless face really minimizes the amount of unwanted spin on the ball. One downside to this is that I find it very hard to get a fade going when I want it, but those people with fades/slices might welcome the sight of their ball curving to the left. The sweetspot is massive and it seems to be that the best place to hit it is on the top of the sweetspot. The graphics and markings are all clean and understated, yet have a modern look. I like to look at my reflection in the bottom of the club...so sue me.

I've demo'd all kinds of drivers out there, including clubs that are >$500. The SS 350 (no offset, 9 degree), performed the best for me. It also looks, feels, strikes, and sounds the best, imho (everyone has different opinions about those attributes). The grip was too small for my large hands, so I changed it with a Winn grip and have been very happy. I've never owned a driver before because my 3 wood always worked fine. So, on my first round with the club I hit 10/13 fairways with an honest :-) range of 245 to 300 yards. I definately recommend this club, but please demo drivers at your local range. There are so many personal factors that affect how the club will perform for you. If this club feels good to you, BUY IT! You won't be sorry!

Got this on Wednesday and in my bag as of Saturday. This is by far the best driver I have ever hit. It is long, straight and very forgiving. In the first round I played with it today I hit 260yds drives on hits towards both the toe and heel. My two pure sweet spot hits went a measured 298yds and 287yds, both in the fairway. Is there hope that 80's could be next to my name on a future scorecard? With the Cobra I believe again!

Model Reviewed: Cobra 350CC Driver (reg. flex)

I am new to the golf disease (I mean game). I just started playing seriously this past April when I bought my fist set of clubs. They are a starter set from the local Sports Authority (Golden Bear $179 bucks). Of course my game sucks, as I am just a beginner. My ability to hit the ball off the tee is considerably woeful. I began only using my 3 wood and even then I was only able to hit the ball 160-180 years and not very consistent (slice is my middle name). I could only hit the fairway maybe 1-3 times during any given round. (I'm also taking lessons.) Then one day I used my brother-in-law's Ping Driver and I hit it about 225 yards straight down the fairway. I was so happy and for the first time I realized what good equipment can do for sorry golfers like me. The next week I went to my local driving range and demo-ed the Ping driver. I hit it good, but not great. I soon realized that my 225 drive with my brother-in-law's club was just a lucky hit. Over the next couple of weeks I continued to demo drivers (Ping, Calloway, Nike, Taylormade). They all were much better than my current driver (and 3 wood), but I was unable to hit any of them with much consistency (my slice keep creepin' up). I even tried changing my swing pattern, but nothing really worked. Then one day I tried the King Cobra 350CC driver at my range. I hit the ball about 200 yards straight and narrow on the first try. Second hit: about 200 (slight slice). Third hit: about 210 yards straight. I couldn't believe how well I was hitting the ball. (I know 200 yard drives for most of you is horrible, but for a beginning golfer like me, a 200 yard drive with no slice is nirvana!). I have since used the King Cobra four separate times at the driving range (with about 60 balls each time). My results are the same, perhaps even better: a consistently straight ball that flies about 200-230 consistently. (With a nice roll I'll probably go about 240-250) I plan to purchase the King Cobra in the next few weeks if I continue to hit it well at the range (I don't doubt that I will!). In short, if you are a pretty lousy golfer like me and can't seem to hit your driver straight with any distance, I urge you to give this club a try. I am sure you'll be very happy.

I am 50 yrs old, a 14 handicap, and this driver is just what I was looking for. Anything off the face of the club is straighter and longer than you think it will be, even off the top, heel or toe. I had stopped playing with a driver because I couldn't control them (and I've tried many). In order to hit other drivers 260-280 I had to swing hard, so I was hurt a lot. I demoed the King Cobra 350 at 10.5, 9 and 7.5 lofts and with almost no effort I could hit them all about the same distance in the air, getting more roll as the loft got lower. I split the difference and went with the 9. I have played with it for 2 weeks and my scores have come down sharply because I am longer and straighter off the tee. May get the ball up too quickly for a low handicapper, but for my level of play it helps me a lot.

Don't decide upon a club without testing the SS 350. In looking for my new driver, I heard a lot and read a lot about drivers from other manufacturers. I had never expected that I would be as pleased with the SS 350 as I was. After hours of testing, I found a remarkable difference between the performance of the SS 350 and those of other clubs. Thank you Cobra Engineers!

I have demoed just about everything out there and decided on the Cobra. This club is easy to hit and good length. I had my best round of the year(77) with this club during my second round with it. I did not have to hit any shots east to west when I was trying to go north to south. I only missed 2 f/w all day. I believe I gained a few yards (not the 20-30 that so many reviewers claim to get) but maybe 5-8. I demoed the Cleveland Launcher (long, not as forgiving), Wilson 365 (easy to hit, forgiving, not as long), Ping Tec (long, not as forgiving), TM 360-I own this one (longer, not as forgiving), C-4 (very east to swing, not as long, not sure where I was going to end up with this one, very little feed back). I want the C-4 to work, I have been a Callaway driver fan for a long time. I know that others will not agree with the quick reviews of the other drivers I tried and that is fine. These are the things I experienced during a round or 2 with these drivers. A weekend golf partner of mine uses the TM 360 and kills it long and straight. The bottom line is that if you are looking for a new driver make sure this one is on your list.

I've hit about everything out there (currently own the Nike 400cc, Callaway Hawkeye Pro Series, Cleveland Quatro) and this is by far the most forgiving and longest driver I have hit. I hated the Nike and have been hitting my Callaway for almost two years and thought I would never take it out of my bag until now. I'm also very impressed with the stock Aldila shaft. I've have a UST 65 Stiff in all my woods and I think the Aldila performs up to par with UST if not better.

Model Reviewed: SS350, 9 degree, stiff

This is a good club. I currently play the Launcher in 8.5 degree, also stiff flex. I took both to the range and SS350 seemed maybe 5-10 yards longer. Just a little more boring trajectory and a little more cary. With that said, I was a little more accurate with the Launcher, but I think that's because the SS350 9 degree seemed about a degree closed where the Launcher 8.5 is supposedly sqare. My misses are to the left, just a little more so with the SS 350 9 degree. I think I may try the 7.5 when I can find it or maybe the 310 or 290 when I can find them. I have the SS 3+ fairway wood and absolutely love it. It's low and long. Interestingly enough the SS350 9 degree and Launcher 8.5 are both noticibly higher for me than this 13 degree 3 wood. I'll be picking up the 5 this week. Was thinking about getting an SS driver to match, but I need one that sets up square. In summary it's a great club. I just have to find the one for me.

Model Reviewed: SS 350 7.5*

I have had my Cobra SS 350 with the stock stiff shaft for 3 months now(21 rounds), and can still honestly say it is the best driver I have ever had. It has shave a stroke off my handicap(currently 0.1). I get a high ball flight with this club, even in the 7.5* loft. It is very forgiving on miss-hits and sets up square, although the higher lofts set up a little closed. The stock shaft is very good. I expected to swap out the shaft by now but I won't change it until I start missing fairways. I was luke warm about the two-tone paint job at first, but now I love the cosmetics of this club.
