I sold my Cobra 460 SZ over the winter months thinking that the F/Speed would be an improved upgrade over my 460SZ... I was wrong!

I can't begin to explain my disappointment with the F/Speed driver as it feels nothing like the 460SZ did, which is a real shame.

First off the head and shaft in this driver are very poor feeling! The club has no feeling and the shaft plays absolutely nothing like the HL shaft in the 460SZ. When I did hit one on the screws, distance was very poor although my ball flight was usually straight. The success that I had with the 9* head in my 460SZ was a distant memory with the F/Speed, as the ball flight was low-medium trajectory with the F/Speed. My swing speed was not an issue as it comes in around 107-113 MPH.

Another thing that I disliked about the F/Speed was the "tinny" sound of the driver off the face at impact. It sounded like I was tossing an empty soup can off a 2nd floor building onto a sidewalk.

The best thing going for this driver are its looks. It is a beautiful looking driver but does not play as such. 460SZ owners looking for an uograde should do what I failed to do... demo first!

Immediately sold the F/Speed on ebay & purchased a new Cobra 460SZ with an NVS shaft.

Finally! My search for a driver is over. My swing speed is between 100-110 mph. My best drives were around 280-290.
This driver is at least 10 yards longer than my Cleveland Comp 460. Without doubt I will break the 300 Mark. I hit my TaylorMade 13 degree Tour spoon 260-280. I hit this driver consistently straight and pure. The ball goes on a mid high trajectory forever. The aldila shaft is a perfect match for this driver. Great job Cobra golf! When I make solid contact with this driver it feels sweet and you hear a big bang. You know that you boomed it and pick up another ball. Persons next to you on the driving range might need ear plugs. You really should demo this driver. This is the best driver I have ever tried out or used.

Previously used TaylorMade 540XD with acceptable results. As I'm in my 50's, I'm not getting stronger - drives usually went 225+ with a tendency to fade the ball sometimes. Switched to the Adams 430Q - yikes, what a mistake. I traded my Adams in for the F-Speed. I cannot get this driver to fade no matter how hard I try. In fact, I can draw the ball which was unheard of before. I believe the secret is in the difference between the Aldila NVS (Adams) and NV (Cobra) shafts. The NVS has a softer tip, so I had difficulty stopping the fade. The NV's firmer tip releases just right for my swing speed (about 90 mph) and the results have been amazing. I hit one 285+ drive last weekend, dead center fairway, and my percentage of drives in the fairways is way up. Lastly, the larger sweet spot on this club's face helps a lot. Be careful to get your stats accurately measured, and get the right club/shaft for your swing. If you do this, you won't be disappointed.

If you think you need TaylorMade, Nike or Callaway to play the ball farther, remember that Cobra is owned by Titleist.

I was invited to a cobra demo day at my local range, to be honest i had heard about how good there new irons where so that was my main reason for going. i had a few swings with the irons but nothing special compared with my titliest 704.cbs but when the demo man brought me along the f speed i couldn't bring my self awy from it. i was hitting scorching shots over 240 mark every time its well worth it.

I cannot tell you how dispappointed I was with this driver. I tried it several times indoors on various monitors, and thought that it was a winner, but after purchasing it custom from Golfdiscount.com, and getting it shipped from Cobra with the wrong grip size, I took it to the range for the first time and after hitting about 10-12 balls started hearing a rattling noise in the head which was apparently a piece of epoxy glue that came loose. To have anything go wrong on a brand new club after 10-12 balls speaks volumes to me of the quality of the product, or in this case the lack thereof. The price of this driver was right ($279 which included customization and shipping), but I would never play Cobra again.

The one good thing to come of all of this is that the day that this driver broke, I test drove the PING G5, stiff shaft Aldila NV (67 grams; 3.5 torque), and this club is so long & straight it should be illegal. The Customer Service people at Golfdiscount.com (who were great) have already advanced ordered me one to replace the Cobra, so hopefully they will pass in the mail.

Called them after the grip problem, but they referred me to Golfdiscount.com. The Golfdiscount.com Team has been very understanding and great to work with.

I developed a terrible slice with drivers several years ago. The only way I was able to correct the slice was to use a split handed grip. That straightened the slice but cost yardage. I purchased the F-speed driver this week and used it for the first time on Wednesday. I felt so confident with the driver that I decided to try an overlap grip again. Wow! I'm rejuvenated about the game. I hit a nice draw on several holes and never hit a slice at all. Got back some yards. Thanks Cobra. I'm convinced.

I really like the setup on this driver, the clubface is slightly closed at address and this gives me the confidence to make a good swing because I don’t have the fear of hitting it right. The main reason I was looking for a new driver was to improve my launch angle to cut the corners on many of the dogleg holes at my home club. The Cobra F-Speed did not disappoint. It produces a high-draw (great to watch)! I believe this driver will be suitable to most golfers as most guys I play with has a tendency to loose it to the right and the cobra f-speed goes a long way in preventing it. I don’t think the Cobra F-Speed is the longest driver I have ever hit and I think my Callaway FT-3 was about 10 yards longer, but it is much easier to hit the Cobra in the fairway consistently and it produces a much better trajectory with my swing. My stats with the Cobra F-Speed: • Swing Speed: +- 107 mph • Carry distance: +- 260 yards Players with faster swing speeds that are already hitting a draw may need to consider another option, as this club could promote your slight draw into a hook. I would recommend to also look at the Ping G5, as I rate this as a very good club as well. Overall, this is an easy club to hit, which produces a high draw with great carry distance.

Model Reviewed: Cobra 460cc F/Speed Driver

I just switched from my Cobra SZ 440 10.5 degree with stiff YS 5.1 shaft (OEM) to the new Cobra 460 F/Speed 10.5 degree driver. I love the old 440 and I bought the new 460 instantly, without hesitation. I have now been to the range a couple of times and played a couple of rounds. There are already some interesting observations for prospective buyers. First, some background so you can compare. I am 6.4 tall and I swing 100-103 mph with the old Cobra SZ 440. I play right-handed and I shoot in the 80s. My swing is reasonably good and stable. When I miss drives with the 440, I miss to the right, in the form of unintentional fades and, on occassion, slices. I carry an average of 230 yards plus roll. I consistently measure my swing speed with a laser on the driving range. The first important observation is that the new Aldila NV shaft "f/speed tuned" is a vast improvement from the old YS 5.1. I immediately added 3-4 mph in swing speed and I now swing 103-107 mph on the range. I never swung over 105 mph with the old 440. Same swing. This is consistent with the feel so far on the course. The new Aldila shaft is firmer and feels more solid. The extra swing speed alone should yield 5-10 yards in carry. Another early observation is a feel thing. The new head is huge and I have a tremendous confidence when addressing the ball. I have also noticed longer and straighter shots on slight mis-hits. The 440 is forgiving but this monster is even more so. I now get 220-230 yards on toe hits. I am not sure how the face angles compare between the old 440 and the new 460 but they look pretty similar. Maybe slightly higher angle (offset) on the new 460. In any case, the result is impressive. The combination of offset, higher MOI and better shaft clearly produces more accurate drives. For the first time ever, I now consistently draw the ball. This is a challenge in itself and I'm having to learn to adjust my game. One strange thing is that I believe that the old 440 launches the ball higher in my case. I am still adjusting to the new driver but I am a little surprised at the early result. In any case, I recommend that you do not buy one of the lower lofts. However, even with a slightly lower flight path, I estimate the increased average distance on the course to be approximately 5-10 yards over the 440. I believe a lot of that is due to the better shaft and higher swing speed. I will try to make changes to my stance and where I tee up the ball to produce higher ball launches and hopefully soon add additional distance. But one thing is for sure, this is another hot Cobra driver! I paid $255 on Ebay and that is real good value in my opinion. If you're switching from an older and smaller driver, then this club will simply be sensational for you. You just can't stay away from the range. If you're switching from a more recent big driver, like me, then this driver will add some distance and definitely more accuracy to your game. The difference is maybe not huge but for a reasonable price (@ $250) it's a real worthwile upgrade in my opinion.
