F-Speed HS-9 460cc
This is the new HS-9 version of the F-Speed. It is a good 5-10 yards longer than my old driver, a Cobra 460SZ. The head/shaft combo of 10* loft and Graphite Design R-flex shaft hits the ball higher than the old combo of 10.5* loft and Aldila NV65HL shaft did. The clubface is deeper but less wide than the 460SZ however it is more forgiving. The sweet spot is huge, literally covering the entire face. Rhe crown of the club is composite tather than metal. You would think this would quiet it down however, the "clank" produced at ball impact is even louder than the old club. All in all, I would rate this as the best newest generation driver I have found. I tried them all, but this one stands above the rest. My index is a 6 and it has come down 2 strokes since I have had this club. It is very long and very forgiving. What more could you ask for? I am 62 yr old male and started playing 8 months ago. Started with a Mizzuno Mp001 and had a lot of trouble with it. Tried Taylor R7 and R5, Ping G5, and Mizzuno MX. Launch monitor was right: F/speed with regular shaft is about right for me. Although I hit the Ping well, club had no feed-back and felt "wooden". With the F/speed I now average 230 yards and straight. Great club Customer Service Not used, but great and service at Golftown, Victoria, Canada Similar Products Used: Taylor R5 and R7, Mizzuno Mp001 and MX, Ping G5 |

Cobra F Speed 460 cc
I tested my old driver (Cobra 350cc SS) & 4 new models on a launch monitor. I was undecided between the Ping G5 and the Cobra F speed, so I initially went with the Ping. The Ping sounded solid & appeared to have less backspin. I played with the Ping for 4 weeks & found it difficult to put consistently in the fairway. The dealer took back the Ping & let me take the Cobra instead-- F speed, 9* stiff flex. The Cobra actually had the better statistics off the launch monitor-- 99 mph swing speed, 140 mph ball, 233 yards carry. In practice the Cobra has been much more accurate as well as giving good distance. The slightly closed face really promotes a straight to slight draw ball flight. Customer Service Golfdom- Tysons Corner, VA-- excellent service. They let me have 30 days to try out the club. When I wanted to exchange the driver fora different model they did it for only a 10% stocking fee. They also have launch monitors and a complete list of priducts available for trying out. King Cobra 460 FSpeed
Okay where do I begin? It all started with my stupid quest to find that perfect driver which started originally in 2004. In a nutshell I concluded that the King Cobra 440SZ (forgiving/great distance) was #1 then second came the unknown darkhorse of the Cleveland Sport O/S (easy to hit/great launch action). Then comes 2005 and for some reason I opted to try an older model King Cobra 427SS which seemed to mimic the 440SZ to me. Now here comes 2006 and we all get itchy for some reason when the new stuff comes out each and every year and I now write my recent voyage in the sea of drivers. I traded my beloved 427 for a used Mizuno MP-001 (hard to get any kind of feedback/horrible launch action) and have to say I made a big mistake. So I then traded that driver for an older Callaway VFT (outdated technology/spoiled with modern stuff) and yes another bad decision on my part. Then I traded that guy for a yep you guessed it another King Cobra 440SZ but wasn't too convinced at the driving range but afterall it has been a year since I hit my all time favorite so I went back to the familiar golf shop to trade that in for a Ping G2 (mind you all of these drivers are used with a 7 day return policy which isn't all that bad if you really think about it). Now I like the overall feel of the set up with the G2 and the feel of the absorbtion of the ball to face, however she was inconsistent so yes I traded her in on the latest Callaway X460 9.5 Tour which was not to my liking. It was hard to get any kind of launch whatsoever. So with all that mess in just 7 days of frustration meaning the back and forth driving to the golf shop(s) AND not to mention the driving range journeys of disappointments, you all know what I am talking about (walking ever so fast to that dumb ball dispenser while holding that shiny new toy in the other hand feeling like a 9 year old kid. Then of course only to be let down AGAIN. Finding out that the wannabe holy grail was only a holy FAIL!. So guess what I do now? Yep go back to the original golf shop that I traded my King Cobra 427SS with conviction and pursue to buy that gem for $75 bucks, who cares if that guy who works there thinks that I am nuts, I don't care anymore of finding that perfect driver, I just want my old driver back (the one that had become my best friend for about a year now. Then behold right next to it is again my other all time champ (King Cobra 440SZ) so decisions decisions. And wala underneath that rack was the King Cobra 454 COMP which I tried a year ago and was not impressed one bit (not even close to distance as my 427SS and 440 SZ). Then next to that was yes the King Cobra 460 FSpeed which looked almost brand new ($225). I never really looked into these so I held one and really felt comfortable with the weight and feel (shaft was the Aldila NV 55 Regular Flex shaft). The grip was a tad smaller than most but felt okay. I addressed all 3 Cobras and just went with a gut feeling on the 460 FSpeed. I know it was a gamble because afterall these other 2 Cobras (427SS and 440SZ) were proven to work over and over in my short golf life. So I took a chance and bought it, went to driving range twice today and overall I think this one has a slight advantage meaning less fading/slicing due to it's stock closed 3 degree face, larger sweet spot (460cc), a tad further at the range and perfect shaft combo (weighting feels perfect). I can't wait to try her on the real battleground. |

After 3 rounds and getting used to , this is an excellent driver. Long, straight and nice feed back. My only qualm is the ugly green shaft. Shaft is only 55 grams. I have the 9* loft and the ball has a nice trajectory. Customer Service lefties only is excellent Similar Products Used: Mizuno MX500 and MP001, TM R7,Callaway FT3, Titleist 905T |

Cobra F-Type 10.5 degrees, Stiff (75gm) Proforce V2 shaft
By Far the most forgiving and longest Driver I've played with due to the largest face on Tour. It is weighted as far back as possible to increase launch angle for a much higher ball flight. Its face is about 2 degress closed to promote a slight draw or square up the club upon impact for those who fade or slice. Playing off a handicap of 10, with a swing speed of 105m, I went from hitting 57% fairways with the Taylormade R7 and Titleist 905T, averaging 240 yards in a very hot summer with dry fairways to now hitting 85% accuracy (12 out of 14 fairways at my golf Club) averaging an extra 10 yards in very cold winter with softer fairways with the F Type. Come summer time there is no reason why I couldn't increase distance by a further 10-15 yards using the F-Type. During address it oozes confidance and its by far the easiest Driver I ever Hit. I'd avoid their standard Aldila Stiff shafts as they twist too much for a stiff shaft thus they lag quite a bit if you have a swing speed of approx 105m. Customer Service I must say Website customer service was just the worst. I emailed them twice and had to wait 3 weeks for a reply and even then they merely apologised for their delayed response due to lame 'technical difficulties' excuses. The 2nd time I wrote back, well I still haven't heard from them 3 weeks later. 6 weeks now no answers to my enquiry. Also, I was annoyed that I specifically asked for a cord grip and they supplied it with an original one. Eventually the got it right the 2nd time around. Customer service aside, Driving is now the strongest part of my game as a result of the F-Type Driver. Similar Products Used: Taylormade R7, Titleist 905T. |

I demo'ed this club and played a round with it as well as hitting about 50 balls at the local driving range. I must say this is a SWEET driver! It really hammers the ball. I wasnt even trying to kill the ball but it was consistantly rolling to about 290 yds every time. I hit a few monster drives with it which was nice too. It is so forgiving too. I like the sound when you contact the ball, it goes off like a cannon. Almost every drive I was hitting a slight draw when with my last driver I was fading and sometimes slicing too. This is a stiff shafted model which was perfect for my swing speed. I was almost 100% on buying the Sasquatch fom Nike, but after this demo, I am a Cobra fan real quick. These Cobra drivers are true distance clubs, and I do not doubt it anymore. This will more and likely be a new addition in my golf bag come Father's Day. First of all I have to admit..I am a Cobra guy thru and thru.I have been playing Cobra for 15 yrs.Have they always made good equipment? Certainly not..I had to play my KC11's and Ti woods for alot of yrs. before they started kickin' butt with the SS'i series to present..Cobra has decent stuff now and at much more reasonable price and the SZ line is fantastic.Well now to the Speed..I have to agree with Mizunogolfer's review of the F'speed for the most part.I have the SZ 460 9* stiff, and got the 9* F/Speed stiff.**On to the shag bag range...Ball flight of the Speed was low to med flight..Much lower then the SZ 9*..Feel of the speed was poor compared to the SZ..
Customer Service I had to deal with Cobra when a new headcover was mistitched and they sent my a new one no questions asked free of charge..But now I here so many people abused that to get a headcover to sell on ebay they no longer do that..They require you to deal with the dealer you bought your club from now.. Similar Products Used: I have hit them all except for the newest of the newest..Demo day for all is next week..I will be there..Is there better- yes and a matter of opinion..For the buck Cobra rules.. |
