Cobra 460 SZ
I originally bought the 460 SZ in a 10.5 degree and NV green Reg shaft. I've since taken it back twice, once for a stiffer shaft and just recently for a lower head loft. previously with my callaway hawkeye vft stiff graph my drives were 50/50. 50 pecent playable 50 percent taking a drop. However they were as long as 260 when hit right and my swing speed is only around 95 on average and 100-105 if i keep warm. this cobra driver really instills confidence and accuracy as well as distance. My best games with the cobra were an 87 and an 89 and 91 came using the 10.5 deg stiff which is down from 100-105 (first time i've ever broken 100). the accuracy and distance off the tee cut quite a few strokes for em. i hit 14 out of 18 fairways one game and those 4 i didnt hit were because they were par 3's and i didnt need the driver. i've since taken that club back for a 9 loft because my drives were getting too much height than i wanted. they were balloning and landing around 230 with no roll just a couple of bounces. i had driven a 241 yard par4 that hit the green and bounced twice for maybe 5 yards. theres a 290 yard par 4 im looking to get close enough to chip on. I am going golfing this sat with the new 9 deg and will post results whether distance was better or not. out of the clubs below i demoed the cobra deliver the better consistant results. my next choice would have been the ping g2 Customer Service n/a Similar Products Used: Ping G2, Great Big Bertha II, Nike Ignite, Cleveland launcher |

Cobra 460SZ
Ok Guys - here is an honest no b.s. review from a once/twice a week player who normally shoots around 80-85 a round, (with an occasional sub 80 thrown in) As driving appears to be the worst part of my game, and the one which costs me the most shots and ruins most rounds, I have been searching for a driver which I can hit with just a little consistence for a few years now (3-4) My search has led me through various Taylor Made, Callaway, Cleveland, and Ping models, I am currently playing the TM 540XD which is a great club in the right hands - but not mine. My playing partner can hit this club 260 and sometimes further, roughly the same as his Cleveland 460 Launcher but not with as much consistence. Anyway, I decided to go the range and try out all the current drivers and instead of doing what i usually do, which is to buy the club that I think should do the job - I would pick the one that actually helped me hit the ball straighter! I wouldn't care about the look, the colour, the name, - I know what you are thinking, why didn't the damn fool do that in the first place! Anyway, I digress, after trying out the TM R500, Callaway 454, Cleveland 460, Ping G2, Cobra 400SZ, Cobra 460 SZ it became increasingly obvious that I was hitting the ball straighter, a tiny bit longer, but most importantly - much more consistently with the Cobra's. I am not knocking the other clubs, I hit an occasional great shot with all of them but - the 2 Cobras just seemed to get the job done in an easier and straighter manner. After a second session at the range, I settled on the 460SZ, with this club I could comfortably hit the ball further and straighter than I had ever hit at the range before, the ball sailed mostly (with a very occasional push left)dead straight time after time landing around the 220-230 mark and rolling up to 20 yards further. This with range balls which tend to not be quite as long as the balls you actually play with. Well, I cannot describe the feeling of watching ball after ball soaring down the middle, I couldn't believe it was me hitting them!! Now, all this is at the range of course, so not fully tested yet - I will try to repeat the experience at the course this weekend, and I will post a follow up in a couple of months when I am really used to the club - who know's with golf? - I may hate it by than but - at the moment I am very pleased with the prospect of finally being able to use a driver on the course and feel confident that the ball is probably not going to end up out of bounds or in the water! If you are in the market for a new driver, try one of these out, it works for me, it might work for you. All the best, and good luck with the endless search for the big drive! JohnP |

460SZ - 10.5 - Stiff
An update from my review from 2 months ago. I now have 20+ of rounds and hundreds of range balls with my 460SZ. This club has really has changed my game - for the better. I've knocked a good 5 strokes off my scores with far fewer lost balls off the tee. When I hit it solid in the sweet spot I get 250+ yards. But the most amazing thing about the Cobra is how badly I can miss hit it off the toe or heel, go 220 yards and still be on or near the fairway. I have gone from always being the shortest driver among my playing partners to now almost always being the longest off the tee. It's probably my swing, but I play this club best when I hit a high fade hitting the ball somewhat high on the club face. Some of these big fade hits have been around 280 yards (which has really aggravated my playing partners). I don't believe any club is a miracle worker, every once in a while I make a really bad swing and get a bad slice or and snap hook with it (just like my old driver), but with any sort or reasonable swing the ball just goes and goes. Again highly recommended! Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: TM Firesole old driver, tested many others before buying the 460SZ |

Cobra 42X driver
I was on a business trip and got invited to a round of golf, so I picked up a rental set with this driver. The head is 427 cc (?) , 10.5-degree, with R-graphite shaft. It's huge compared to my 360cc Callaway 2004 Titanium driver. I did enjoy this club, it's so easy to hit, it's difficult to tell if it's longer than my Callaway, but I can say this: I would get similar distance. Don't be afraid of 10.5-degree driver, it's probably good for most of us. I know of people who carry 9-degree driver with the thinking that they get more roll for distance, IMO this is a wrong perception unless you have a 100+ mph club head speed. If you can find this club at reasonable price, get it, it will help your game. BE CAREFUL : on the USNews papers issued on 6/16, they reported that there are fake golf clubs from China, so I would be VERY careful buying golf clubs on Ebay. The ONLY way I would buy golf clubs from Ebay is they are cheap(i.e. no more than clone clubs) and then I would take that chance. Cobra 460 SZ Driver
Just an update after having played 6-7 rounds with my new Cobra 460 SZ 10.5* stiff shaft. This past Saturday I shot an 85 even with four (4) 3-putts. Minus the 3-putts that's an 81. I will break 80 this season since I am hitting more fairways than ever, and also hitting it LONG on many holes. I reached a par 5 in two thanks to this driver (and a solid 18* hybrid club), which is the first time ever I have done this. Performance off the tee is no longer my main concern. This is a great club, worth every dime. Customer Service Not used. Similar Products Used: See previous review. |

Cobra 460 SZ 10.5* R-Flex
Recently purchased the Cobra 460 SZ 10.5* R-Flex with the standard aldila graphite shaft. I previously played a TaylorMade 580. Believe all of the hype...this is one impressive driver to hit. The face is slightly closed on the 10.5* (about 2-3*) so it is the perfect club for golfers who hit a fade and sometimes slice the ball. The first ball I hit was right down the middle that carried about 230 yards and probably rolled about 30-40 more. I hit ball after ball and produced the same result. Typically my mis-hits produce a slice of about 10-20 yards right of center; mis-hits with this club produce a slight fade of about 5 yards. When a hit the sweet spot I produce a very nice draw, which was refreshing because i never hit draws. The club has a very loud but nice sound when you hit the ball so you'll bring a lot of attention to yourself on the range, but that's OK since I was driving the ball so nicely. The ball flight was high but it produce a lot of roll. Out of 100 or so balls I hit, I probably only sliced about 3 or 4 and that was when I really tried to overpower the ball. Overall, this club is the best driver I've hit. It is the perfect club for someone who shoots in the 80s but struggles sometimes with errant tee shots that find themselves in the rough on the right. I highly recommend this club if you want to produce off of the tee. It has given me the confidence I need of the tee to compete with my buddies who are 2-5 handicappers. I suggest you search on the internet for the best price. I found this club about $40 under the MSRP. I can't wait to try the cobra sz fairway woods to see if they are on the same level of the driver. |

cobra 460 SZ
I have want'ed to upgrade my driver for a while but have been saving for irons instead. Fortunately I won the 460 SZ ( 9 deg stiff shaft) in a scramble. Took it to the range and the course the next day and it is a rocket. Trajectory is mid-high and any decent swings carries 250 yds easily. I have fought a fade miss with any driver I have ever hit before. Not with this one. I think it has some sort of draw bias. I have hit other drives with a draw bias and smother-hooked them. I don't know if its the shaft the face or whatever but it works. As it turns out my buddy who is a serious range rat and has been demoing all drivers, has settled on this one. ( I'm not selling it to you Mark!!) Call it karma our whatever but I am very happy with this stick. I Also like the color of the shaft it looks really slick. Last point, although its big the black head makes it appear smaller. thanks Cobra!! Customer Service NA Similar Products Used: Ping G2 ( hate it, looks stupid and I cost too much.) |
