How do I sum up this driver in 4000 characters? The first time I saw this driver was at a demo day back in July that I attended. I had a case of the flu and although I wasn't able to swing the driver that day I liked the results. Recently I decided to go for a Vector session to get new irons. I demo'd everything and as it turns out Cobra 3100 i/h irons won over the rest of the OEM's. So now a driver search was on seeing that my driver at the time was a real issue. My driver (which was a Taylormade R540XD) was like an Iraqi Scud missile. I never really knew what it was going to do from swing to swing. Sometimes straight, sometimes a draw and then there was a pure slice. Maybe it was the shaft. I did another Vector with driver and it came down to the 460 SZ, R7 and 454. The 460 SZ with the Aldila NV shaft and 10.5* of loft won. I waited to see if the price on this driver would come down seeing that Cobra was coming out with its Speed Series. I ended up at a local golf shop here yesterday and there it was a 460 SZ virtually brand new (no marks anywhere on it). I scooped it up for $170 CDN. I went to the range yesterday and hit 300 balls with it. There are jumpers and there are cannons. This thing is a bona fide piece of heavy artillery...more like a howitzer. I would say a WMD but that would overstate it. This thing kills my 540XD by an easy 30 yards. In colder weather I was hitting it 280. The best part was the ball flight a nice drawbut I can play a fade with it as well. Pure carry with no ballooning, it appeared that the ball didn't want to come down. I was concerned about the loft. I have hit 300 yd drives with the 540XD but with this driver I have the feeling that there will be lots more. I'm not saying I'll avg 300+ yds. By the way out of the 300 balls I hit I had one hook, one balloon (my fault) and the rest were dead straight with a slight draw. I let another guy try my new toy (nervously he was topping shots and so on) and he hit it off of the toe but it still went straight with a slight draw about 220 yds. For those concerned with the closed face...no worries i had no tendency to snap hook it. Seeing that I have the Cobra 3100 i/h irons on the way, a Cobra Aussie Series Sydney putter and the 460 SZ I'm looking forward to trying the SZ Fairway Woods. The real litmus test will be later today on the course. There are a lot of holes that will be shortened and give me real realistic eagle chances. Cobra you did great. A marvelous product for a great price.

Demoed this driver at event in March, but could not bring myself to give up on my TM 420 Burner. It is a good club, too. When these went on close-out, I got one from Tom Howard's for $170. Have played about 4 rounds with it so far, and I am sure going to like it. I still need to get the accuracy down. It will draw the ball, but it will also fade it, too. I'll give you an update in a few months.

This is the finest driver I have ever owned. My previous driver was an Adams Redline 460 10.5 degree, r- flex. Prior to that I was hitting a TM Bubble 2 10.5 degree R Flex. with the TM I fought the fade slice, and general had amid to high trajectory. Average distance 225 yards...when I smoke em, 250 -260 yards. After goign to the Adams, ball flgith was way high and I lost 20 yards easy off my driver. I finally got fed up, tried a Cobra 460 SZ 9.0 R Felx at my favorite proshop. I liked it alot and with a mark down to $199, it was ano brainer. Firstr time out, I played it in a company tournament. Wow....ball flight was much flatter, yardage was around 225 on average and 250 on my best drives (much like my old T<)but the best part was that I hit this thing much straighter than the old TM and much further than the newer Redline. The Cobra 460 SZ is one sweet driver. The guys at the proshop talked me out of the Cobra Comp 454 based on the high trajectory and my own history of beign ahigh ball hitter and into the 9.0 460 SZ. it was great advice and a great choice. I am even thinkign og buying the SZ Fairways!

Have tried a number of top of the line drivers and this Cobra 460 with Adila shaft seems to work best for me. I'm not joining the rest of the reviewers who have rated this a '5' when it comes value due to the fact that I played 9 holes with a friends Loco, which retails for 100 bucks, and found it to be every bit as good as the Cobra. When I hit either one correctly, they went straight and long. If you do not like a "weighty" club, you will not like the Cobra. Personally I feel that a little more heft makes this the fine club that it is, at least for average or below average players like myself (especially compared to the scores that are given on this site!!) If you are a beginner, check out both the Loco and the "Perfect" driver. The Perfect club is sold on ebay and at Dicks Sporting Goods. I'm happy with the 460, thus I'm giving it an overall rating of '5'. but had I tried the Loco or Perfect instead of the Clevelands, Callaways and Taylor Mades, I would have gone to the less expensive clubs that produce equal results, at least for those of us in the 90-100 range.

I purchased the Cobra 460SZ on Ebay for $175. My 460SZ has 9 degrees of loft and is fitted with a factory installed Aldila NVS-65 (Orange) stiff shaft. First off I have to say that I'm shocked that there aren't more reviews (owners) of this club on this particular web site. Secondly, if there is a better driver for the money on the market ...someone show it to me, because I've hit the TaylorMade's, Mizuno, Cleveland, Ping, and Callaway's of the world, and NONE of them are as long as this cannon or as forgiving either for that matter. Plus, all of this can be had at a fraction of the cost of all of those other clubs listed above The Cobra 460SZ isn't pretty, or have a fancy wrench to adjust the weights while your driving in your cart while trying to impress your friends. What the 460SZ does give you is distance, great feel, forgiveness, and plenty of plush green fairways! The Cobra 460SZ has made hitting the driver fun again and I now consider any drive around 275-280 yards to be "average." I know that I had 3-4 300+ yard drives today. Not only that, when I don't hit it on the sweet spot, the ball still goes far and more importantly ...is playable! The NVS shaft really adds an extra "bullet" to this driver's "holster" and I never had a complaint about ballooning or trajectory. The only time that I hit it extremely high, is when I wanted to! Also, if your worried about the 9 degrees of loft not being enough for you or your driver ...don't be! The stock Aldila HL will offset that in most instances, or in my case the NVS. My only complaint about the driver is the U-G-L-Y headcover!!! Please, please, Cobra ...change the colors of this UGLY headcover. A driver of this magnitude deserves a better hat to rest it's head in during hibernation. In conclusion ...if you have trouble getting the ball in the air, have trouble slicing the ball, or just want an extra few yards off the tee that was otherwise impossible or cost you half a paycheck around payday ...then this is the weapon of choice for you!

Ebay for $195. This driver came out in mid-2005. I just recieved this badboy from UPS after having hit 200+ balls at the pro shop with it and many other drivers a couple of weeks ago. It is so *expletive* light. I don't even have to look at a ball on tee. I can just pick it up in my living room and the club makes me want to murder balls. If I had one of them indoor ranges ($50,000), I'd probably never leave the house. It makes me pretty violent when holding it's Golf Pride gripped lightness. I liked this driver so much when hitting it at the pro shop that I tried it's little brother, the Cobra SZ 20* Baffler utility wood, sitting over in the corner and hit it 250+ yards consistently. Such corrupting POWER! and sound. These new SZ clubs are like sneaky snakes slivering in the grass and want to viciously bite down hard on the ball. The ball must really yeeeeeeeouch! when you hit it. These are mean clubs. I mean MEAN as snakes. This club is for Mad Driving. What grippin' n' rippin' is all about. A cruel club. Very offensive. Would go well on an Animal Planet show with Steve Irwin, Hale Irwin's long-distant cuz.

Several high-end drivers: G2, Bertha, Launcher, R7. My second choice after the Cobra was the new Adams RPM 460Dual w/ Aldila 65 S. The Mizuno-001 I haven't tried but wanted too just to see, because all of my irons and wedges are of the Mizuno MX23/MP32 lineage.

Here's an update that I promissed 5 weeks ago. In short, I absolutely love this driver, I have hit so many fairways in the past five rounds that my confidence knows no bounds. My regular golfing partner is amazed at my driving improvement and rather than rely on me, is going to have to look for alternative means of income! GONE, is my old weak slice and in its place are consistent, much longer, straighter hits. I can confirm this is the club doing the work because, as soon as I use my old TM R540XD, the slice is back with a vengeance! I only have problems with this club if I try to 'lash it' - the best results are obtained with a long, lazy swing building clubhead speed smoothly, and gradually, this gives me drives of 260 - 280 on average with an occasional 300 yard (hard fairway assisted roll) of course I still have the odd mare but - 9 out of ten are good. In short, this club has transformed my game and I am delighted with it, yesterday I shot a 75 which beat my previous best by three shots. One thing, these are pretty expensive, but well worth it considering the money I have spent on others, anyway, what more can I say - go and try one out and maybe you too will be as happy as me!

Late August update after buying the 460 SZ in late May. Yesterday shot a personal best of 82. Hit 11 of 14 fairways. (Yes, I still need to practice my approach shots.) One of them is a 368 yard par 4 that I absolutely bombed off tee. Left me just a lob wedge for an easy par. If you're not on the Cobra train yet, get on board!

Model Reviewed: 460SZ 10.5 Reg

I was looking to upgrade my Driver - a non-conforming TM R360 - nothing wrong with that club - thought I'd try something newer. My SS=115-118 mph - I haven't had problems with distance, just direction at times. (If I reverse pivot, I'll leave it 3 fairways right) Hit my playing partner's 460SZ 10.5R driver - was sold after a few shots. Promptly bought one for myself - first shot from new, beautiful draw of about 260m (286 yards).Tried to get after it & hit some high push fades for my next 2 drives (still good distance) so slowed tempo down & rewarded with great drawing ball flight & distance. Final hole is a dogleg left 496 yards - slow, wide, deliberate takeaway - crushed it leaving me 10 yards to the 150y marker - a drive of around 336 yards.(Ball used Maxfli Black Max) Don't believe me - fair call - try one for yourself & find parts of the fairway you thought weren't possible. For those concerned with the closed face - don't be - my brother in law plays off a 5 HC with a nice draw (TM540) - used the 460SZ, same ball flight (When he hit my old TM R360, he'd snap hook it) I prefer reg shafts and the Adila HL60 is one of the nicest I've swung.I was worried about the soft tip closing the face too rapidly - unfounded - nice shaft for my swing. The 10.5 deg head has med/high ball flight, however it does not balloon. I chose it for extra forgiveness. 9 deg may be fine - can't comment - haven't hit one. Bottom line - don't try to overpower this club - stay connected and let it work for you - You won't be disappointed.

alright, i posted earlier about swapping from the 10.5 reg to the 10.5 stiff and now to the 9 stiff. previously the 10.5 stiff combo seemed to balloon to high and my average drive was around 250yards. just got done playing a round this past sat with the new 9/stiff combo and whoa what a difference in distance. first 9 i had a few line drives getting use to the 9degree. but back nine it came alive. i also had to adjust some little things to get accuacy back but average drives were in the 270's. there was one par 5 that seemed like i got a good drive from. we pull up to the ball and our cart gps reads 320 from the tee. i knew i got ahold of it but whoa doggie. another long par 4 and i get ahold of another one but with a little fade to it. ball landed in the rough at 290 and never had a chance to bounce and roll down for more distance. overall after 2 golfsmith 90/90 playabilty returns i am very satisfied mith the 460 loft shaft combo. again, this club instills the confidence to play better golf . i've hit a few balls at the range with my eyes closed that i wouldnt mind having on the course.
