Cleveland Launcher Titanium Drivers

Cleveland Launcher Titanium Drivers

DESCRIPTION

The LAUNCHER Driver was first introduced in November of 2000 to a select group of PGA Tour professionals. Put in play immediately, the LAUNCHER driver started making headlines when Vijay Singh used it to win back-to-back tournaments on the European Tour. Andrew Magee landed in the PGA history books when he made the only ever hole in one on a par four. Other golfers also used the LAUNCHER to win on Tour. The LAUNCHER Driver is rapidly earning a place in golf bags on and off The Tour because of its unprecedented distance and all-around performance.

Boasting a traditional shaped 330cc clubhead, the LAUNCHER features a Titanium body and a thin Beta-Titanium face that precisely meets the legal COR (coefficient of restitution) limit set forth by the USGA. The LAUNCHER Driver was designed to not only meet the needs of pros on The PGA Tour but, more importantly, to bring better distance and enjoyment to your game.

Solid. I've played several rounds with the 983K, 975J, Si3, and this one out performs those by a fair margin. One of the most striking findings was the consistentcy of drives, fades do not turn into a slice as with the Titleist drivers and a nice draw is effortless with the Launcher. Set up is perfect, nice lines, great look of confidence at address. the 983K is not for HC above 10 in my opinion unless you get it with a light shaft and regular flex, otherwise you won't control it. The Si3 is as straight in my opinion, but an easy 10-15 yards shorter. The ball seems to scream off the face of the Launcher when well struck and just doesn't leave the target line. I thought I had found the answer when I had the 983K, then I discovered the launcher. I am not saying to run out and buy one now, but if you have the luxury of demoing one for a few rounds and at the range(do both, big difference), it might be worth your while. The price is right, fact I just bought a new one on ebay for $215 + S/H and you'll be in parts of the fairway you've never seen before on your drives, I guarantee this.

I am not impressed. I read all of the wonderful reviews of this Cleveland Launcher and thought 'well, this must be the club!'. This club accentuates any swing flaw (fade to slice), and only gives that distance increase everybody here raves about IF you hit it on the screws and IF you hit it EXACTLY perfectly. I know there is no magic club that cures bad swings, but c'mon folks, this is like most big head clubs I have tried - they all accentuate the fade to a slice and don't actually go any farther than my 6 year old Taylor Made TI Bubble!!!! Furthermore, the Taylor Made keeps most of my drives in the Fairway - the Launcher does not. I am not trying to diss this club for the sake of it - I bought and paid for it and thought it would actually be 1/2 as good as the reviews - just 1/2 as good. What I got was 1/10 as good as the reviews. If you are expecting magic from this club - you will not find it. Spend your $279 on 12 lessons and improve your swing - that's what I am going to do!

This club is absolutely incredible! I went out to demo one of the Ping Si3 drivers. I wasn't satisfied with either the blue or green dot 9*. Just out of curiousity, I asked to hit one of the Launchers. WOW! The first thing I noticed was that the grip seems to be just a tad smaller than standard size (made it easy for me to release the club on a good swing). Also, the stiff flex shaft seemed to be a little closer to a firm. However, with my swing, I could really feel the shaft loading and unloading which made it really easy to hit. The ball just exploded off the face. I was able to hit draws and fades with it too. I did slice a couple of shots due to a bad swing (didn't release the club). Even though this club is a 400cc head, it doesn't look even close to that. In fact, to me it looked more like the Titleist 975 head style. Needless to say, I went ahead and bought this right away. By my guess....and this is a guess only...I would say I was hitting the ball about 260-265 (no, not 320 to 350 like SOME of these 'studs' around here....haha). This is based on the fact that I was flying it just short of the 250 sign and the ball rolled quite a ways. My next purchase is going to be a Launcher 3 wood. As an FYI...my swing speed is pretty consistent at the 105 mph mark. I do have somewhat of a 'quick' paced swing (i.e. Nick Price...I wish!), but this shaft feels perfect to me! Hit em straight...and long!

I bought this driver on Ebay, which was suppose to come with the stock Fujikura X-stiff flex, when the driver finally showed up it was the stiff flex. I took it into the local golf store and they let me trade it in for face value $299.00. I had them order me a new one with a Graphite Design WS7 in a X-flex. I have found this driver to be 10 to 15 yards longer than my Great Big Bertha with the EI70 shaft. The biggest improvement I have noticed it the accuracy with this driver. The head is much bigger but yet does not look bigger which gives me the confidence to go ahead and take a big swing without trying to steer the ball. I good not be happier with the club and shaft combo I have.

Customer Service

A little slow, about 8 weeks for my new driver...maybe it has something to do with being Left-handed.

Model Reviewed: Cleveland Launcher 400 7.5 degree stiff

I've used primarily Taylor Made Drivers and most recently used a 200 series 8.5 degree with a rifle steel shaft. With this I could drive about 280 to 290 yards. I purchased this Launcher new off of ebay site unseen and having only hit it into a net at my local retail store. I got it on the golf course and instantly could carry the ball an extra 20 yards. I don't know about the roll yet because its rained everyday here since I got it but I suspect that the roll will be greater as well. My typical drive was a strong draw and it was fairly unpredictable my typical drive now is a slight fade that is very predictable. I looked at the TM 540, Nike, and Calloway Big Bertha II and this launcher is by far the longest and straightest!

Have been using taylor made 320, with UST Pro force 75 shaft (stiff) 9.5, for about two years. I hit the ball about 270 with a draw. Tried the Launcher 400 8.5 with graffaloy blue stiff at a demo day and was hitting the ball about 20 yards further, either straight or with a slight fade. I tried the Fuji shaft on a 9.5 and it had a draw. If you like to launch either is a sure winner.

I now know why there are 240 reviews on this club. Everyone has one, and if you don't, you should. It is by far the best overall driver out there. Compared against the TM R540, Cobra 427, Nike 350, TM Burner 420. The stock Fujikura shaft is absolutely amazing. The 400cc head is a small 400, which doesn't effect your swing speed as much as some of the other club heads. I have the 10.5 degree with a stiff shaft, and my distance has improved 10-15 yards, and the dispersion pattern has improved tremendously. Even when i put a bad swing on it, when I get to my ball I find myself saying that wasn't bad at all. It is about $120 Canadian cheaper than the other big name brands, and is definately better than them. Give it a try, it is the most solid, consistently long drivers on the market. The R540 was a distant second, but maybe if I tried the non-stock shaft it would be better, just didn't it. Whenever I tried to rip it, it resulted in a duck hook. Give the launcher a try, you won't forget it.

Looking for distance, forgiveness, and accuracy? Look no further. I recently purchased the 400 cc model(10.5 reg) after testing out other drivers. Club sets up very nice at address and deep face instills confidence that you can hit a good shot. Although I only hit the ball about 250-260, I am noticing that the dispersion pattern of the ball is much tighter with this club, resulting in playing from shorter grass more often. I have noticed a little bit of distance gain of 5-10 yards with the head/shaft combination of 10.5 deg, reg flex, and I think this has to do with the fact I am hitting the ball up and out instead of a low beamer off the tee. People with all handicaps can consider this club because of its design and set up at address. Choose the loft/flex combination which best suits your swing and make sure to try all flexes, as I found this shaft seemed to play a little stiffer than a typical regular shaft. Although I am not gaining 20 yards, the small increase of distance of about 10 yards can improve my chances of scoring a little lower. Great club!

Model Reviewed: Cleveland Launcher 400 8.5 Stiff

I have been playing the Launcher 330 for the past year and a half and I loved that club. I have 4 clubs in a head to head battle (Bazooka 320J, Cobra 427SS, Launcher 330 and the Launcher 400) all of them had some nice qualities, but the Launcher proved to be the longest and straightest of the group. If gave me about 5-7 yards over my Launcher 330 and 15-20 over the other two. The shot dispersion was about 30% tighter that the rest as well. Averaging about 285 yards with the occasional 320-330 yarder. Much more roll than the rest of the group, even on wet ground. Very penetrating flight with no ballooning. 9.5 degree may have been better for a little more carry.
