Model Reviewed: Launcher 460 w/stock fujikura shaft

This driver is flat out fun to hit. It is, in my own experience, very forgiving and very long and suits me perfectly. The stock shaft is not bad but if possible I would recommend getting an upgrade.

From a technological standpoint, there are A LOT of drivers out there now that trump the Launcher 460. However, from a performance standpoint, you would more than likely find that this one performs just as well as all the others. Because of this, I just cannot seem to justify paying $300-$400 for some of the "technologically advanced" drivers of today. Just my two cents though.

Great driver!!!

I'm a 12 handicapper. Hadn't bought a new driver for several years. Got my wife to give me one of these Cleveland Launcher 460 drivers for my birthday. I've only played with it one time. But, from that experience, I can honestly tell you that this is the best driver I have ever had my hands on. I got the 11.5 degree loft because I don't hit the ball very high and wanted to get a bit more loft on my drives. We played the Panther Trails golf course in The Woodlands last Sat morning from the tips and I can honestly tell you that I've never hit so many fairways in my life. Long and straight. I think I only missed two fairways out of 18, and then not by much. This is one great driver. Wow !!

Got this driver used (in great condition) w/ the stock R-flex Fujikura shaft (bright orange?!). The gigantic head took about two seconds to get used to - any thoughts of being an unapologetic hacker using an O/S club subsided when I hit this thing 300 yards!! Honestly, I can't believe how the ball will keep traveling and traveling when you hit this thing. You don't even have to swing hard. I'm in no rush to alter the stock shaft. It does the job for me.
The feel is pretty good. I'd say Callaway drivers have the worst feel of all the driver's on the market. My previous favorite was the Taylormade 300 series.
The feel on this is more than decent, but no where close to a Titleist or Mizuno driver. But then again this thing is 460cc!
I absolutely love the sound of this thing too. It's very loud and crisp and will turn heads.

Mizuno MP001 - one of the most underrated driver's. Also a very nice one.
TM R7 460 - explosive off the tee, but a little too gimmicky for me w/ all those weights. I prefer the plain vanilla look of the Cleveland.
Cobra F Speed - a surprisingly good driver too. Distance is good; feel and sound are just decent.
Nike SQ - good as well, but something about Nike & golf equipment just does not sound quite right. It's also hideous to look at. But it swings alright.
Callaway Fusion FT3 - disappointing. I'd rate it below decent. No feel, and it comes in too many versions which makes you wonder if you ever got the right one. Buyer dissonance galore.

I have played off b/W 4 and 7 for 25 years and have had probably a hundred drivers. Driving has never been my strength which means I have and will try just about anything to find that elusive one that was meant for me. This is as close as I have ever gotten. Looks good, good feel, good length, tends to go straight on bad swings and is awesome when hit in "the screws". Interestingly other reviewers tend to replace the stock fujikara shaft so this has given me something to think about as I haven't had a problem with the current shaft. Overall the best driver I have used so far and I have had many!!!

recently purchased this monster after hitting it at a demo day down here in oz', {thats australia} and let me tell you that this $200.00 bargain basement buy was the best investment i have ever made. i have used the taylormade xr03 all of my life and that hits really long. this club, the xr,is the illegal version so it booms, but the 460' outhits it by 30 metres; unbelievable!. my brother hit it the day after purchase and smashed it over 295 metres. he went out the next day and bought a monster as well. i put the penley tour light in mine as the brown thing it came with was rubbish. congratulations to cleveland as they have absolutely excelled themselves. cant wait to hit the high-bore!

Until recently, I was still hitting a King Cobra Titanium driver from 1998, so I had no idea what to expect from these new giant-headed drivers. I bought a "like new" 9.5 deg stiff Launcher 460 from 3balls.com.

I don't think that I'm a particularly long hitter, or at least I wasn't with my Cobra driver. I would usually hit 210-220, unless I completely nutted it, in which case I could get a 250 yarder. With the Launcher, an average drive is 250-260, and I've already hit two 300+ yard drives in just two rounds! Plus, when you hit the ball well, you (and everyone within 100 feet) know it from the tremendous sound.

I have a tendency to fade or slice the ball, so the club's draw tendency is nice for me, even though I have hooked a couple of shots. As others have said, it's very nice to be hitting 3 to 4 clubs shorter to the green than you're used to. If I can get my iron play in order, I think I can begin to break 90 with regularity.

Customer Service

3balls.com was awesome. "Like New" really was indescernible from brand new, and I got the club for $135 shipped. Tremendous value.

After 5 years of searching for a club to give me distance and accuracy...I FINALLY FOUND IT!!! I used to play with $40 Meijer special and decided to spend some $$$. It was worth all $200. This driver has eliminated my need for fairway woods. I have the grafalloy shaft and a 10.5 deg loft. I have gained 40+ yards on my distance and haven't lost a ANY accuracy. I recommend this club to ALL levels. I've even let my 12 year old nephew who's just learning hit it, and he's straight as can be.

Customer Service

I've only had it for 9 months, but have been incident free.

I was looking for a replacement for my TaylorMade 580, since I have a Cleveland quadpro 4 wood and simply love it, I decided to try this Launcher. Well, I could not believe the feel and the results, high and long and most of all in MY fairway. I bought a 9.5 degree with the graffalloy pro launch since I have NEVER hit a driver high and after reading the specs. on that shaft and reading here about how high this clubs hits. I carry the ball now about 240 to 260. Mys lices are now high powerfades but still somewhat in the confines of mthe hole am playing. I hit some 300+ drives with my TaylorMade, but lots of times they would leave my zip code.

Have not need it.

I decide to go on a golf trip with a group of guys form work. We head to Myrtle Beach,S.C. for 5 days of golf, golf and more golf. I had purchased a used driver in hopes of not being left behind at the tee box. It worked on day one but the ball flight was low and right. Day two sees me realigning my set-up to the left and a overly strong grip. It worked but if my hands got a little quick, DUCK! yep, duck hook city. At the end of a 36 hole day, I decided that enough was enough. I went to Martin's golf and Tennis to get a new driver. I was getting help from a salesman who put me on their launch monitor and this guy gets me to try this and that but I am still not happy with the results. After trying four different models of his choosing, I picked out a Cleveland 460 Launcher with the green Alida NVS stiff shaft. "Your swing speed isn't high enough for that club, your still going right, your ball speed isn't high enough, that club's loft is too low for you, try a regular flex shaft, etc.,etc., etc." That guy did his best to talk me out of that club but I bought it for $299.00 and as I headed to the cashier, I picked up some lead tape. Back at the hotel room, I put 2, two inch pcs. on the hosel end, approx. 1/2 inch towards the toe. I get up on the tee box the next morning, nervous, excited and full of doubt. When I pull the trigger - BOOM - say bye-bye baby. Splitting the fairway and being long is a sweet feeling but when the ball is 15-20 yds. farther than your normal drive...jaw dropping is a better description. Guys in my group that are my age normally out drive me but now I'm hitting the ball to where the guys that are 6-7 years younger are. My buddy got pissed off, went to Martins and that same salesman worked with him and he came back to the room with a new Taylor Made R5. When he hits it perfect, he is about 5-7 yds. longer but if it isn't hit just right...it is to the right and 10-15 yds. behind my ball. If you are tired of getting "sand kicked in your face", try the Cleveland Launcher with a Alida NVS shaft. Mine is 9.5 degrees with a stiff shaft and with a 88 mph swing speed; they will have to pry it from my cold, dead fingers!!!! After 7 months, I am still in love!
