Launcher 460; Launcher Gold Shaft
Distance: Well struck balls hit on the sweet spot need a passport. The Launcher 460 performs as designed: high trajectory with low spin, my carry is significantly longer (15-20 additional yards). I hit several comparable drivers in the simulator and I achieved more initial ball speed according to their monitors, (ave. more 5-7 mph). Forgiveness & Feel: The USGA limit head-size obviously makes the club forgiving. What I found surprising is the feel is very responsive for an oversized club. Looking at these large club heads you usually think of them as clumsy, however, in MY experience, I did feel constructive feedback on miss-hits. Balls hit on the sweet spot make a hard range ball feel like butter. Other: The stock shaft is works for my swing. But a lot of reviews of this product advise you should find a shaft that best suits your own swing – so keep that in mind. Also, I am a player that is sensitive to sound, so I “kick the tires” in comparison, I feel the better the sound - the better the construction and material of the driver. So I bounced a ball a few times on each of the drivers’ sweet spots and listened. The Launcher’s titanium knock just sings or if you prefer, demonstrates a barbaric grunt of power. Anyway, any club that sounded like a tin roof was sent back. Overall: In my non-expert opinion, the Cleveland Launcher 460 is a great driver – I LIKE IT and that’s all that matters. I feel this is definitely a driver with superior distance and forgiveness. It won’t hurt you to give it a demo. Cleveland 460 8.5 Grafalloy pro Lnch 65 stiff
Just got my 8.5 in the mail with stock shaft broke. Did some research and bought the Grafalloy pro launch blue stiff 65g. The shaft is a mid to low kick point and low torque, 2.8 to keep the head square on off center hits. Seems to be a great combination for the 8.5 head as the shaft is designed to get the ball up. What you get is a nice medium to high trejectory. I have never hit a driver that knocks the !!!! out of a ball like this head does. The shaft feels great as well, designed for swing speeds of 95-105 mph as per the Golf Smith web site. I have tried the most all of the new drivers, Titleist, Taylor Made, the New Mizuno MP-001, 400CC. My favorites are the Cleveland 460 for sheer length and explosiveness and the Mizuno for overall feel, a bit softer at impact. You can't go wrong with any of them, but Cleveland and Mizuno look great and are both long and forgiving. Customer Service Have not used yet. |

Cleveland Launcher 460, 10.5 with Aldila NV 65 gram
Very forgiving, very easy to turn over, hits a high ball, but still get lots of roll. 20+ yards lomger than my previous high tech longest club in the whole universe. Great looking club with simple lines - no weight ports, no elstomer vibration dampers, no gimmicky lines or graphics. Caveat: the shaft is everything! When I first hit the 460, I did not like it due to the OEM shaft. When I went to the Cleveland factory fitting center and got on their launch meter and tried different shafts, it became very clear that either the Grafalloy Blue or Aldila NV were much longer and more solid feeling. I finally decided on the Aldila NV 65gm - no regrets! Customer Service Excellent. The factory rep spent over one hour with me to get the best driver into my hands. Cleveland 460 Launcher
I bought the Launcher 460 last Friday and have played two rounds with it. Not only is my distance now much greater, but I feel like I've got a super long 3 wood in my hands in terms of accuracy. Holes I used to pull out the 3 wood on I'm now crushing the 460 and keeping it in play. For me, this is a GREAT club. My swing speed, measured last week was 94 - 110. I had been using a R flex shafted driver and had trouble with consistency. I opted for a 10.5 degree with the stock gold stiff flex shaft. I tried one with a Fujikara S flex shaft. It felt better in my hands. When I swung it however I was not as consistent with it. With the gold shaft I made solid contact every time. When I articulated this to the salesperson he said that he had heard this from several people. Don't believe you must reshaft. Bottom line, try all the shafts you can and see what works for you. I'm now averaging 235-240 off the tee. AVERAGING. On the last few holes of the last round (when I began to really trust the driver) I absolutely crushed it. Over 275 on last hole. Driver looks and feels nice, head cover is very stylish. I tested several clubs in the store. The Cleveland 460 simply felt hotter off the face than anything else. I am completely amazed that I now have a driver I hit this long, and this straight. Customer Service Have not had to use Cleveland CS. Puetz Golf is awesome. Cleveland Launcher 460 10.5
I was having slice problems with a 300cc TaylorMade (not the club's fault) and decided to go oversize based on reviews of forgiveness. Well, its true - oversize definitely was a good choice for me. I love the high loft and long distance, it rarely causes a radical slice and seems to even turn back around and fade when it does slice. I thought I would get a lot of ribbing for its big size, but really not that much. The main thing with this driver is forgiveness - toe, heel, even duffs still manage to play. I did re-shaft with an Aldila NV 75S based on others reviews and my swing speed, cannot say for sure if made a difference - probably for my level of play could have just bought more balls instead. Finally, the reason I invested the money into this driver is cause I love to drive - if you are athletic, but not super skilled, this driver will put a smile on your face. I love it when we walk up to the ball after the drive and mine is always about 20 yards further than theirs. This club was worth every penny. Customer Service Golfsmith has some fantastic people working there, I would recommend going on a slow week night though. They have a very knowledgeable and friendly staff - believe me if it wasn't true I would say so. For example, I talked on the phone with one of their Pros and it was like getting a free lesson - I apoligized for so many questions, but he was so laid back and willing to help me. Cleveland Launcher 460 10.5*
I have been playing golf for about 5 years, and have been looking for a driver I could hit consistently. I am a technology junkie, so I have owned and played with many of todays modern drivers, but I think my search is over, at least for awhile. The Launcher 460 is an excellent driver. My normal tee shot is usually a mild slice or fade, but when I played a regular flex 460, the ball began to go in the opposite direction. I began to hook and draw the ball, primarily hook. I am now playing with the Launcher 460 stiff flex with great success. My drives are now pretty straight and very long. I am rarely in trouble off the tee when I use this driver. The trajectory is very high, but the ball goes a long way, about 240-250 yards. I play with some great golfers, and they all make fun of the clubhead size, but they don't laugh when we walk down the fairway, and I am 15-20 yards by them. If you are looking for a new forgiving driver I think the Launcher 460 is worth a try. Personally I thinks is a great club at a great price Customer Service I haven't needed Similar Products Used: Callaway Steelhead, Hawkeye, ERC,C4 Titleist 975D TaylorMade 320, 360, 580 Cobra SS350 Cleveland Launcher 330, 400 |
