Was hitting a Launcher Comp with V2 shaft.
Excellent club, didn't think anything would knock it out of my bag.
This club did: XL 8.5* with fit on red shaft! Amazing club, straight and long, blows past my comp by 20-40 yds. Red shaft is excellent for my SS of 92-94. Red gives a lower boring flight compared to the gold and works for me since I tend to hit a high ball. Stock red shaft is very good quality, no need to reshaft. I should get a commission from Cleveland, they got a least 4 sales from guys playing with me.
I did by a back up driver because I hit it so well. You can find these for 149.00 or less and it's probably one of the best buys around.
Tour model is open 2-3* and this model is closed 1-2*. Promotes a straight or draw shot.
Being in the fairway with a mid to short iron sure makes this game a lot easier...
Thanks Cleveland!!!!

I don't know if it's the driver, or the shaft (Aldila VS Proto By You shaft). I've had this driver about a year, and I do buy & sell regularly on ebay. Probably the best thing I can say about this driver is that many golfing friends have said that I should never get rid of it.

I've waited to review this club until reshafting it with the UST Proforce V2 HL shaft. (For me, the stock Fujikura Gold did not seem to have much life.) I picked up the club with the new shaft Thursday, and I played it this afternoon for the first time. All I can say now, is OMG.

With my back having two herniated disks, I'm now a slow swinger and with my Cleveland Ti460 Launcher, my drives consistently average 205-220 yards. Today, with the HiBore XL with the V2 HL shaft, I averaged around 230 yards and smacked at least four drives between 245-255 yards.

Comments about this club:
-Trajectory: Medium-high but for me, not high enough to balloon
-Landing angle: must be shallow as my drives rolled pretty good after landing
-Accuracy: hit 11/14 fairways with it. Consistent slight draw shot shape
-Seems to be pretty forgiving. I had a couple of toe hits which probably lost only 10-15 yards
-Hits near the sweetspot sound and feel real good
-Regarding the large footprint of the club, you get used to it especially it you hit it like I did today!

Before buying this club, I recall one fellow's review where he said that he bought a second HiBore XL in case something happened to the first one. I must admit, I thought that this was kind of odd when I first read it. (Now, I wonder if I should do the same thing!)

I just love this thing. I used to have a horrible slice with other drivers, but after some dialing in I can hit straight and true drives nearly every time. Drivers on the sweetspot explode off the face, while off center hits still go straight with good distance. Do not see how others think it is junk. Yes, it is a different shaped head, but after a couple of rounds don't notice it. I have used the Cleveland launcher and Taylor made R5's and this driver is much better than those.

Model Reviewed: Cleveland Hi-Bore XL

After playing with the original Hi-Bore for a year, I decided to get a Hi-Bore XL after reading all of the reviews on the club. I must say, the reviews were dead-on. I did go from a 65g stiff shaft 9.5 degree original Hi-Bore to a 55g regular shaft 10.5 degree Hi-Bore XL.
The Hi-Bore XL is much easier to hit straight, and when I catch it dead-center,the ball takes off like a rocket and goes a looooong way. My drive on the 400+ yard 18th hole last evening at Diamondback Golf Club in Abilene,TX ended up 80 yards from the green. It amazed me, since it was 20 yards closer to the green than I had ever been with the original Hi-Bore.
The Hi-Bore XL is an amazing upgrade over the original Hi-Bore, and is also an excellent value since you can now pick up a new one on E-Bay for about $170-$190. I bought mine used(though it had only been hit a couple of times) for $125.
The best driver I have ever had. If you want more distance and want to hit it straight, go get a Cleveland Hi-Bore XL.

This is by far the worst driver I have ever used. It is junk. It's just a big cheap piece of crap on a stick. The original Laucher is a much better driver.

Model Reviewed: Hibore XL

I've played two rounds with my 12* HiboreXL with a Fujikura Gold Fit-On shaft, and my comments are:

Set-up: I know it's a matter of personal taste, but the HiboreXL looks good as I address the ball. The shape of the clubhead was not a distraction. I did not tee the ball lower as some have done due to the lower CG. (Later, I may play around with teeing it up higher or lower and see what happens.)

Trajectory: mid-to-high - which is just what I was looking for.

Shot shape: I pulled one shot, and pushed another, but the balance went fairly straight. If there were any fades or draws, they were hardly noticeable.

Distance: Even with the stock shaft, the distance is comparable to my Ti-460 Launcher which was reshafted with a very good shaft. Plus, the distance was respectable even though I was golfing in mid-50's temperatures. I can't wait to hit it when temperatures are in the 80's or 90's!

Forgiveness: This baby must have a big sweetspot as I hit some off the toe which were decent drives. I maybe lost 10-15 yards of distance with these toed shots.

Miscellaneous: Normally when I buy a driver or FW, I use it once or twice and I know it needs a better shaft. With this shaft, however, I think I'm going to use it at least until mid-summer before deciding whether it needs a new shaft. So far, so good! Also, the headcover has what they call an "E-Z Grab" which is a slot to put your fingers in to pull it off. I like it ... it makes getting the headcover off easier.

Needless to say, I gave the HiboreXL a 5 star rating. IMHO, it is a top notch driver!

Use this review site often for clubs. Most accurate reviews, since real golfers like me. Though professional reviews of this club also gave high marks. ...I am slightly better than bogey. Used to have a hard time w/a driver. Used Tour Edge high loft, and worked well. As I developed my swing and wanted to limit my slice, store person suggested the Hibore XL. I have a high swing speed, but short backswing. Suggested gold stiff shaft, 10.5 loft as I wanted to have high launch/loft. In the store booth it sounded, and felt great. Took it outside and crushed it! Outstanding feel, great sound (not tinny or "clink" sound, but a "Boom")! Love the look. Great feel. Could be what I was missing, to gain yardage, and shrink the next approach shot. A great club, and a great price. Club face appears slightly closed, which is good psyche. Makes me want to hit it straight, and sometimes even slight left. Much more accurate. This gets me to the next level. Could be the ticket to saving some serious strokes and more pars. Traded in my old driver, so let's hope so... :)

After hitting the original Hibore with some sucess, I deceided to go with the XL. Got it for $139 new, online. AT first, I was dissapointed with the overall performance but as I spent some time and re- adjusted my setup things got better. It is at least 20 yards longer than my R5 and puts more drives in play. I'm very happy with it now and so will you if you give it a chance. Can't go wrong with the price, either. Great club.

Model Reviewed: Cleveland Hibore XL 16*

I have a BUNCH of drivers, and recently added the Hibore XL to my mix in search of the elusive perfect one. I have discovered that it does what it does VERY well. My very first swing, right out of the packing box and onto the first tee with no warmup, was 235 dead center. I have an unusual setup ... the 16 degree SuperLoft with a stiff gold shaft. I tend to deloft the face a bit normally, so I get a great trajectory, plus decent distance and less dispersion than with a regular flex shaft. Golf magazine recently noted that most players would do better with high loft drivers for airtime rather than roll. My swing speed is on the border between regular and stiff flex, so the gold Fuji is a better choice for me than the red. I am hitting the ball about 240, almost as far as with my best "cannon" (Tour Edge exotics 12*) ... but this baby is a fairway bound short grass seeking missle. It is harder to work (thats what the Tour version is for) ... but I have never seen a driver that wanted to go straight as desperately and consistently as this one does. For most recreational players, that is enough. Puus, I got it on eBay for a song. The only thing that has been close for me is the Sumo, also a 16 degree stiff .. slightly more torquey, more like a sports car, but similar characteristics. Hibore XL .... goes far, but more importantly, goes STRAIGHT!
