I did not like this club at all the club head and face is way to small. U had to hit this club right on the spot to get it where u wanted it to go, it has the smallest sweet spot i have ever have, its easy to slice or fade with this club too i think its horrible, i got it with a steel uniflex shaft and a winn grip. but still this club is not worth being a member of the callaway family this club is the worst club i have ever played.

Model Reviewed: Callaway Steelhead III 9* Uniflex Steel Shaft

I am new to golf, but have put up decent scores for a beginner. I shoot in the mid 90's and have been playing for about 2 months. I was using a graphite shaft 10.5 degree Wilson driver and was hitting it with a little slice right and a very high flight pattern. Averaging about 210 at the range and 230 on the course. I have a very "large" and fast swing and decided to go with the steel shaft because I have the strength to belt it out. Now on to the review: It took a few times at the range before I got used to the smaller head. It is smaller than my 3 wood! The sound on contact is quite impressive as is the incredible distance and improved accuracy I had. I no longer slice the ball NEARLY as much and I average about 260-270 on the course. I even hit one 300+ when I went out on the course with the club for the first time. There is no need to try and "kill" the ball, because it flies off the clubhead. Very nice club, check ebay for them, the graphite ones usually go for about 130 new and the steel about 120 new. Now all I have to do is get better with putting. I can now get on the green in two or three and end up three putting. HAHA, but that's my own problem.

Model Reviewed: Callaway SteelHead III (1 and 3 wood)

I've always been inconsistant with a driver and I've tried several. The first thing I realized was the Graphite shaft and Titanium combo did not work for me, very bad slicing and very seldom did I get the kind of yardage that was worth the trade-off. Started with the Callaway SteelHead III 3 wood and it worked well right from the start. Went back to Golfsmith and purchased the driver (both were purcahsed in new-like used condition) and I've had the same great results, well actually I do like the 3 wood a little better but both are really good.

Customer Service

When you purcahse used from Golfsmith it is my suggestion to make sure they give you a headcover, I got one with the 3 wood but they didn't have one for the Driver so they weren't going to give me one, but I pushed them a little and they were good about satisfying me with a nice headcover (included in purcahse price)

Model Reviewed: Steelhead III 9 degree driver

Haven't used a driver in a year, due to my army drives (hit left, right, left, right...) Tried again this year and 3 drivers later decided on the Steelhead III, steel shaft. Feels like a "real" club when you swing it, not like the half-ounce titanium heads. Smaller head is actually the size of my 3 wood, with the extra distance. That coupled with the shorter shaft increased my confidence ten-fold. Flew my first ball over the 250 yard fence at the range with this driver. Normally fly the ball 230, with the 250 fence stopping the roll. Tremendous roll--when the ball hits the ground off a drive, it runs like it stole something. Ths sound of this club is absolutely head-turning. Very forgiving. If you "try to kill the ball", you actually do.

Model Reviewed: Callaway Steelhead Driver 10 degree steel shaft

I have been playing golf for about 15 years but not that regularly, maybe once every 3 weeks. Consistency a problem so I have never teed-off with a driver. I use a callaway warbird strong 3 as a compromise. Last yr I bought a steelhead III 5 wood. Never hit a club so well. So this week I bought a Steelhead 10 Degree driver. Have only used at the range so far but initial returns are very good. No club will correct swing errors, but the Callaway Steelhead III series comes close to compensating for mis-hits. Another great feature is that this club is not intimidating. When you are not comfortable with the look and feel of a driver, this aspect is very important. When I look down at the club I see the strong 3 with a bigger head. I would highly reccomend this club.

I started gofing about 2 years ago, and finally decided to up-grade from my starter set. I bought the Steel Head III, and to my liking I was for the first time hitting my drives over 225! I never had thought a name-brand club could give me so much. I tried the Adams 303 steel driver, but was dissapointed to find that it was defective.(Head cracking)I bought the 3 wood and it is great. I have a steel shaft on mine and I like it better than graphite becouse of its controll. I would strongly recomend this club to any type of golfer that like a steel driver with alot of forgiveness.

Great feel. Doesn't have the hollow feeling of a titanium head. And I don't need that enlaraged sweet spot. Generally heavier near head - personal preference. I've hit some impressive drives. Good value.

Having been through more driver than boxer shorts in the last year i have not found one i have liked. i have tried Cleveland Launcher, R540, 975JVS & LFE, and the Callaway C4. I stumbled across this fruity little number on a trade in at work and i got to say it has the to the best thing ive ever hit! ok not as long as the R540 but its the damn straightest thing iver ever blasted. due to small head, off the deck is easy to hit and i think i shall settle in nicely to this !!

Well ... I am 16 and a year ago was looking to update my starter set of clubs. So I started by buying Titleist 981 irons. I must say i enjoy them. So I was looking for a driver and waited a long time to find this graphite club as a demo for 180 bucks. Its was a great steal (and a bad pun). I began using it this year and must say that though it isn't as long as the other titanium clubs... i enjoy it. It goes strait when you swing right and tells me when i am swinging wrong. If i slice then i know how to correct it. It makes me much more confident ....... which helps my irons because im in the middle of the fairway. Now i have been focusing on my putting and chipping. Though you hit it the least i think that a driver makes a big difference in your game. now i must look for a 3 wood. So if you enjoy steel ... and a smaller head on the club then i recommend this one.

Customer Service

I havent had to deal with them.
