Model Reviewed: 10.5" Hawkeye Stiff Shaft

Easy to swing but its light swing weight causes inconsistency. Control is not the best in the market. Too much flex in the stiff shaft. Its relatively low spring effect makes it outdated when compared to new generation drivers like TM 300 series. Easy swing is a must. Hard swing increases chance of mis-hit without noticeable distance gain. Overall, over-rated driver probably because of advertising.

The kind of driver which is easy to pickup but as you improve your swing, you will look elsewhere.

Callaway Hawkeye 9 degree with UST Proforce stiff 75 gold shaft. Awesome driver, I'm use to hitting Kmart specials for the last ten years and finally picked one up that has received good reviews on this site. I can now say that there is a huge difference from this driver and the $20 Kmart specials. My drives are longer but most importantly, straighter. I have a pretty fast driving swing so when I go to put everything into it, I get a slight fade. Going to a UST X-Stiff shaft would probably prevent this. Driving is now much easier than before.

Thanks Callaway!

It's a follow-up on a review i posted few months ago. In the previous review, i was saying that i had some inconsistency with the club. Always a draw, miss hit were duck hook. So, i have my driver reshafted with a Grafaloy Prolite. I think i have now the perfect match, i'm now very staight, no more non-willing draw, easier to work the ball for a fade. It took me few round to get use to this new shaft, but now, i have back the feeling i was looking for, the distance is still good and i'm way more accurate.
Tks
David

I used to have a Titleist 975d, and found it too difficult to hit consistently. I also tried the Ping TiSi- that driver is probably longer, but I just couldn't get over the mutant-sized head. I bought this club with the stiff shaft (which really isn't as bad as many say it is), and really like it- great distance, feels like you're swinging a 9-iron, and forgiving as can be. Since I draw the ball and use a strong grip, I have to open the face a degree or two, or else the Hawkeye becomes the Hookeye.

I bought this driver after trying all the others at Demo Day. The trajectory I get with the firm shaft is a nice boring line. No more balloon shots. This club is consistently longer than my previous driver by 10-20 yards, but with better control. I am able to work this driver both ways....draws and fades. I noticed that a scratch golfer friend of mine had bought one, now I know why. Having played five rounds with this driver my average is slightly over 270.

Switched from Big Bertha Warbird. I am a fairly short hitter (230) and can hit that with just a decent hit whereas I had to hit it very well with the Warbird. Tends to fade alot less than Warbird as well.

I DID SHOOT IN LOW 90S BUT HAVE LOWERED MY SCORE TO MID 80S IN LARGE PART BY PUTTING BALL IN PLAY WITH DISTANCE FROM TEE WITH THE CALLAWAY DRIVER. IT IS A VERY FORGIVING CLUB AND I AM ABLE TO WORK THE BALL ESPECIALLY WITH A POWER FADE WITH CONSISTENCY. TRY THIS CLUB ON RANGE AND YOU WILL SURELY TRY TO FIND A WAY TO AFFORD ONE. IT WILL IMPROVE THE AVERAGE PLAYERS' SCORE BY 5 STROKES. I BELIEVE IT IMPROVED MINE EVEN MORE. CONFIDENCE IS A WONDERFUL FEELING.

MY SON BROKE THE SHAFT AND I RETURNED IT TO THE COMPANY AND THEY PROMPTLY REPLACED IT, NO QUESTIONS ASKED

This is truly one of the best drivers on the market today. Its distance, accuracy, control and feel are great but not as good as the Titleist 975d.
