Callaway Hawk Eye VFT Drivers

DESCRIPTION

From Callaway Golf: The new Hawkeye VFT driver is the "hottest, most forgiving driver available that also conforms to USGA rules." This is not a good driver. I took the advice from these reviews and purchased the 10 degree model in stiff flex. The stock callaway shaft is still so flimsy, and that and the closed face make for an unpleasant experience. The only kind of people this would help are the slow swinging slice types. I bet they are nailing this thing 250 down the middle. I am not in favor of a club that covers up dramatic swing flaws like this one does. Go see a pro. Cosmetically the driver is beautiful with a giant face. I have played the steelhead plus and I feel like that club had more feel in it than this one did. And the steelhead plus didn't have much feel at all. But it performs. The VFT is a well-dressed dog. Your money is more wisely spent elsewhere. Perhaps the neutral weighting in the pro version will help this club out. They really need to address the "hooded" clubface first though. I can only recommend this club to people who are still learning how to swing.

The club looks beautiful but I had a hard time controlling my draw. The face seemed a little too closed at address. Also, perhaps the shaft was not good for my swing as I felt like I could not aggressively go after the ball. The kick point seemed to be too low on the shaft. After 10 rounds, rather than reshaft, I switched back to my Titleist 975 for consistancy.

very solid, very long. must maintain awareness of closed face and keep proper tempo for optimal results. compared to other models is easier to hit and longer. swing bias may account for significant disparities as taylor 300-360 series felt weak and unwieldly. better than ping , titelist in distance. can hit high w/ cut and either soft high spin or "hot" trajectories. can also hit w/ draw easily. my only complaint is that when i get quick smother hook appears dramatically. have'nt hit 300+ drives in many years(primarily due to chronic disc disease) but am in that range again(w/ pro v1 which is very complimentary)

Well, Please allow me an amateur who is shooting 100s since I pick up golf in November 2000 to comment on this extrodinary driver. I m someone who always go for the best(price doesn't really matter to me cos I only wanted the best for myself whether its in a car or golf set). I don't believe on the comments of others cos I only believe in myself-like what the Nike ads always insists-JUST DO IT!!!!
Ok, but to my review on this driver of mine- The VFT HawkEye. Like my First paragraph on i ONLY WANTED THE BEST!!! I went down to a retail golf shop n grap hold of two SteelHead Plus n this VFT HawkEye. I must say that the first time I hit this driver, I regretted buying it, My ball slices and I don't get the distance I want on the TEE box thus Pushing my attention to the SHP 3 wood which was very forgiving. The driver actually landed up as redundancy for 3mths in my Golf bag Until One fine day when I started to pull it out and begin hitting the driver back on the Range. Believe me, This driver is not for Beginner, it was never meant to be. It was after I have gather so much confidence in my swing that persuaded me to pull it out and hit 500 shots at the range, the result was a surprise to me, with my improvement on my swing arc and speed generated on the downswing, I m hitting shot like nobodies business now, 290Yards for a beginner who just started playing golf 6mths ago. This driver really hit the ball and I mean Far.......... I must say whatever positive or negative review on any product on this forum, I must say that the endresult all voice down to your swing, I must say once you get that swinging momentum, I bet all driver will be as easy as ABC. As for this driver, My verdict is AWESOME MEN!!! BUT only if you can swing properly.

I haven't used many drivers yet, but so far this is my favorite. I've tried some of the newer clubs (Taylor Made 300 series and Ping Ti) but this still seems to be the easiest to hit and most forgiving on my shots. I don't know how to work the ball etc... to much so all I know is that this driver hits the ball farther and straighter than the rest I've used.

Customer Service

good so far from what I've heard

This is a good driver.
Demo'd for several weeks while my Titleist went for a new shaft.

I won't switch, but highly recommend this driver over the Ping and Taylor , and group them in the same lightweight but long hitting category.

If you like to put the muscle on the ball, like a heavy feel stay with the 975 or even the GBB. But this is a group of rare hard hitters who need that feel to think they can control their shots, all others should seriously consider the VFT, the best Callaway has made since the GBB.

Play it with a lighter ball, Tour Accuracy, MC Premiums, even the Callaway 35, and you'll be amazed by your flight pattern as long as stay on and down on the shot. (Don't hit Professionals or ProV's with this setup, too heavy for off center hits, and you'll hook)

Good luck, and yes the Taylor critics are just spoil sports who realize they bought a driver that will wear out quickly, they should have waited. Lesson, never buy a new product that launches at end of the year, wait until spring.

Customer Service

Callaway is always supportive if you have a problem, maybe the best

Has to be the worst feeling driver ever except for the old Golfsmith Grand Titanium because some genius decided to put Aluminum and some Titanium in it. Anyways, it goes far but i who cares if you can't feel the ball coming off the face. Poor Forgiveness.

sorry callaway i have your x14 irons, 3&5 supersteel woods but i deffinately wont have this in my bag. i just could not hit this club. i did not find it very forgiving at all and it felt very awkward swinging it.
my Taylor Made 320 TI is still my favourite driver by a mile

At the beginning, I was disappointed with my VFT driver, because some broken pieces inside the driver, but Callayway replaced another new one to me without any question asked.
After that, I tried it on driving range again...WoooWoo!! It's really good.. straight & far ( Hit 10- 20 yards more than my old driver ). If you don't believe it, why you don't try it on the driving range.
Definitely, you won't be disappointed with this driver.

** I haven't tried ERC II, I think ERC II is cheating driver personally.

Monster club. Monster distance. If you can't hit this, you can't hit anything right. Don't blame the club. Blame your swing.
