Vft
I purchased the 8 degree stiff shafted VFT in January soley on the reputation of Callaway. I purchased the club without really hitting it and went right out on the course. My first impression of it was that though I crushed a "couple" of drives, but I quickly realized that the trajectory was much lower that the traditional feeling of the GGB and Hawkeye. I went with the 8 degree in both those clubs to get my ball flight down. With the 8 degree VFT, it was way too low. So I exchanged the eight for a nine degree loft. The trajectory was slightly better. As I continued to work with the club at the range and playing it out on the course, I quickly learned that this club is not up to the typical forgiving standards of other Callaway drivers. I'm an 8. Drivers are not my strength so I am looking for something that would give me distance and control, like the GGB. I quickly found that if I didn't hit it perfectly right in the middle everytime, the ball did some very weird things, more than anything, I think it loses about 30% of it's distance. Yes, when I hit it on the screws, it flies well. The VFT is for someone who can constantly hit the sweet spot on every swing. The more I looked into this club, it is not surprising that there aren't many touring PGA pros using it. I attended this past weeks Toshiba Senior Classic at Newport Beach and was surprised also that many of the Senior Pros who are Callaway sponsored have GGB's and Hawkeyes in their bags. I think I only saw two or three VFT's. In my bag I have all Callaway clubs, Hawkeye 3 wood, Steel Head four wood, and X-14 Irons. I was very troubled over the performance of the VFT. I then headed out and demo'd the Taylor Made 300's. I hit all three of them, 300, 320 and 360. I also hit the TIT 975D. Then took out my VFT and my GGB and Hawkeye. Spent about an hour and a half working with all the clubs. The Titliest is for near scratch golfers as is the 300TM. The 360TM is overly huge and I only hit it twice before I put it back. It came down to the Taylor Made 320 and my two orginal Callaways. The 320 is awesome guys. I never ever thought I would jump ranks but I went right back to Roger Dunn and traded in the VFT for a Taylor Made 320I with a S-90 shaft. Hit it on the screws and it flys farther than my GGB. Hit it on the sides and results are better than any of the others. Customer Service Callaway second to none Similar Products Used: There was Callaway blood in my system. |

VFT 8 and 9 degree
I first bought the 8 degree stiff. My first impression was long boring low shots, too low. I was under the impression that it would by like any other callaway, kicking the ball high. It doesn't. I switched to the nine degree stiff. Again low long boring shots but that's with hits directly on the sweet spot. Callaway put an inch longer shaft in mine, I am 6' 6" tall. Once that was completed, I started hitting uncontrolled fades. And balls not hit in the sweet spot, forget it. The club is unforgiving. I hit my hawkeye more consistant, I switched back for more consistancy rather than length. I gave the VFT two months, you should do the same. Customer Service Callaway is awesome. just bought the pro series X 14's and had them go to 2 degrees upright and an inch longer, did the work in two days and sent them to my house, free of charge Similar Products Used: Callaway Hawkeye 9 degree stiff |

Callway Hawkeye VFT Driver 9degree
So far, I have been playing two rounds with this driver and are extremely satisfied with it. I had no problem hitting it long and straight even on the first round. This is not a forgiving driver like other Callway's but more like a real player's driver. I just don't understand why so many people don't like it. If you have decent swing, this club will help you gain more distance and control Similar Products Used: Titliest 975D, Ping Tisi, ERCII |

I have a erc 2 and a vft both 10* I have found them both to be extremely easy to hit, long and very forgiving. I previously had a biggest big, both of these are better to me. I can't understand why so many "golfers" here say they can't hit this club and pretty much do a hatchet job on anything Callaway. Then in the next breath declare taylormade the supreme driver. I had a taylor made before and didn't like it so I don';t even fool with it anymore.I like Callaway , Callaway works for me. 10 stars for Callaway. Ps there seems to be a lot more bashing of reviews and also each other here than on Ham&Egg Customer Service Customer Service is Great Similar Products Used: None |

I too am having a hard time understanding how this club is getting so many good reviews. I was recently in the market for a new driver and the VFT was on the top of my shopping list. I demoed this club at Haggin Oaks in Sacramento, where they allow you to hit any of their clubs out on the range (not just into a net). I really wanted the VFT to work for me because my entire set of clubs (irons, 4 wood, driver) consists of Callaway clubs. Boy was I surprised when I tried hitting the VFT. Unless you hit it perfect, it didn't want to go anywhere. I also demoed the Taylor Made 320 that day and there was a huge difference between the TM and the VFT. The TM was so much easier to hit compared to the VFT (see my TM review in the TM 300 section). If you want another opinion, take a look at golfclubreview.com. They recently did a review on the VFT and it was not pretty. Similar Products Used: TM 320, Callaway GBB,BBB, Titleist 975 |

Playing for about 6 months i can't say I'm experienced... BUT I can say this driver is very good. Took a bit of time to get used to but after that I seem to be hitting way further than many people at the driving range and the course. I found I had to release my hands much after turning my body. Usually hit it around 240 metres, but on a sweet draw 260-270 metres is normal. Dad also uses it... he has very slow clubhead speed and a not really "technically good" swing but manages to hit 20 metres further than previous drivers. (approx. 220m) Similar Products Used: None |

I have never liked Callaway products in the past and have stayed with Ping and TaylorMade drivers. This is a great club with great distance. However, I have witnessed the dreaded hook described in reviews below and cannot figure out what causes it. It seems to occur when the ball is attacked. I am going to try for a while and like all other drivers try to "work-out" the kinks. Customer Service No experience Similar Products Used: Ping TISI, Taylor Supersteel, countless others |

I think this club is terrible! I'm a scratch player and I think that people who have tried any of the taylormade 300 series clubs and think the VFT is a better MORE FORGIVING club than they're crazy! this club can rarely breaks 250 on practice shots and doesn't go much further than that on solid, fast shots. there are other clubs that go farther and mishits ( 300 series PING ISI) than the VFT goes on solid hits. I think the older hawkeyes and great big berthas were much more consistent. There are other clubs that are much better for much less. Customer Service no bad service Similar Products Used: All of the Taylormade 300 series, PING I3 and ISI, Adams GT 9 degree |

I can understand the mixed reviews on this club. It took me a few months to get use to it. I change the shaft to UST Gold 65. This seem to make a difference. But, like anything in golf you have to work at it. There were times I want to junk it like other drivers I tried but I hung in there. Now, I would not trade it for anything.
