Great Big Bertha Driver
I purchased the GBB 8 deg when it first came out but then traded it in after a couple of years to purchase the 975D 8.5 deg. What a mistake! Although the 975D appears to be a little longer in distance, the club seemed to be very unforgiving. It was very difficult to hit the fairway. I recently purchased the GBB 9 deg w/ Proforce 65 and realized that the GBB is by far more accurate and very forgiving!!! This club makes golf a lot more fun. I really don't mid losing a few yards for more fairways hit. Customer Service none Similar Products Used: most of the popular drivers |

I'VE ONLY OWENED IT FOR 2 WEEKS BECAUSE WHEN I HIT IT AROUND 380 YARDS IT STARTS OUT LOW BUT RISES UP HORRIBLY FAST. I ALSO BROKE THE ORIGINAL SHAFT ON A DEMO DAY. WORD OF ADVICE IS DONT BUY IT MATE. Similar Products Used: PING I/3 AND TITLIEST 975D |

Really like this driver. This my second post, earlier discussed my 7.5* I played for the past year or so. It is a GBB 7.5* with a Proforce 65 gold shaft. Really killed this club, but hit a touch too low. Put together this fall an 8* with a Fujikura Vista 70. This is a great match. The first time playing I used the new titleist Pro V1 ball, and was hitting the ball 10-15 yards further. Was very surprised myself about the distance. This is a great head, but do yourself a favor and reshaft. Proforce, Fujikura, Grafalloy, Innovative. They all work. Similar Products Used: Great Big 7.5*, Ping 8.5* |

Bought brand new on ebay. Was averaging 240-250 with the regular shaft, the went with the UST Proforce 65 and started averaging about 260 with much greater accuracy. Not the longest driver out there, but it feels great and never lets me down. Choose this or the Steelheads if you want to avoid the "shoe box on a stick" feel that so many modern drivers have. Just like the preceding reviewer said, the accuracy and reliability of this club outweighs the ability to bomb one or two drives every round with a 300+ cc driver. I've hit most of the new and old drivers out there. I like many such as the Ping Tisi, Titleist 975, but I always go back to my Great Big Bertha. After I reshafted this with a UST proforce 75 stiff the accuracy and control I have far outways the occasional bombs that I can hit with My Ping. The Callaway feels very different with a heavier and stiffer shaft now but performs excellent. It has taken the high slice completely out of the equation. The head on my GBB is 6 years old and still has plenty of pop in it. Pick one of these clubs up used and put a good shaft that matches your swing speed and you can't go wrong. I'm hitting this club about 265-270 on average. Mishits generally travel about 230. I haven't hit the 300 yard bombs that I can with my Ping but keep the ball in play great. Most of this is likely a shaft issue I have a UST proforce 65 s in the Ping and a UST proforce 75 s in the Callaway. Customer Service The best customer service out there. GBB 8.5*
Okay, this is an honest summary of this storied club. I generally average drives of about 240-260yds. On good days and when I'm playing a lot of golf I can get some 275 & 280 yarders. The club is as forgiving as any other club I've tried and just as long. Recently, I had been getting the itch for a new driver...you know the itch. With all the new stuff out there you figure, golly, there must be something better. So I went and demoed the Mizuno Tzoid forged, Hawkeye Pro Series, VFT, Titleist, New Taylor Made 3xx series drivers, side by side right next to my trusty ol' GBB with UST Gold 64 stiff shaft. I have to say I was happy and disappointed to fin that I could hit my GBB every bit as well (length & accuracy) as any of the new fang dangled techno clubs. Try as I may I did everything I could, trying different lofts and shafts combinations and my GBB & shaft combo still matched the longest carry and definitely had the most roll. I've had this club for about 3-4 years and it is the oldest piece of equipment in my bag. This is seriously one of the best drivers out there still!! Not to mention the fact that a lot of pro's, curiously enough, still use the GBB. Get the right shaft combo with this club and trust me, you'll enjoy it. Right now you can get them new for $200 while stores are closing them out....save yourself $200 bucks. Callaway GBB Ti Pro Series
Like a lot of golfers I just picked this one out because I liked the look and feel of it. Later on I realized I had bought the pro series, which is for the better golfer (which I am not). The pro series is not biased towards the beginner, as the regular GBB. But I have no trouble hitting it straight and long. The only problem is that tinny Callaway sound when you hit the ball!
