Callaway FT-i Drivers

Callaway FT-i Drivers

DESCRIPTION

The Callaway Golf® FT-i and FT-i Tour Drivers represent a quantum leap in driver design. To exploit our proprietary Fusion® Technology — the superior weight-shifting science developed by Callaway Golf that uses multiple materials in clubhead construction — the design demanded a new shape. With the revolutionary 460cc Complete Inertial Design, the FT-i Driver pushes the boundaries of shape, of our imagination, of the rules. This design precisely positions weight to the extreme corners of the clubhead, producing the highest Moment of Inertia of any Callaway Golf driver, resulting in unparalleled forgiveness. Our largest, most robust CT/VFT Titanium cup face is designed to the legal limit as defined by the USGA Characteristic Time test, resulting in increased ball speed, distance and forgiveness. Also incorporated into the FT-i Driver is the OptiFit™ Weighting System that produces three center of gravity configurations: Draw, Neutral and Fade, enabling golfers to choose a combination to best suit their individual game. The FT-i Tour Driver features a slightly open face angle for a look preferred by more accomplished players. Designed by the industry’s leading minds, the FT-i Driver will break barriers of performance, distance and forgiveness.

460cc Complete Inertial Design
Positions discretionary weight to the extreme corners of the clubhead, raising the MOI for unparalleled resistance to twisting both horizontally and vertically, providing forgiveness on shots hit all over the face.

OptiFit Weighting System
Enables golfers to customize their driver by giving them three different CG locations to choose from in most lofts: Draw for promoting a draw or reducing a slice/fade; Neutral for maximum workability; or Fade for promoting a fade or reducing a hook/draw. Fusion Technology
Proprietary technology creates maximum perimeter weighting and more discretionary weight for precise positioning of the CG and exceptional stability on off-center hits, enabling ball flight customization for optimal individual performance. CT/VFT Titanium Cup Face
Modified version of VFT® Technology in which face thicknesses are designed specifically to maximize performance under the new USGA Characteristic Time test, resulting in our largest most robust face for increased ball speed on shots hit all over the face.

Carbon Composite Body
The material used to make the body is significantly lighter than titanium, allowing Callaway Golf engineers to move discretionary weight where it is needed most, resulting in better stability and distance.

I have the FT-I tour 9.5* Neutral and can't explain just how well this driver performs other than to say long and straight with just the right trajectory for my swing. Buy stock in Calloway and be advised don't try this club unless you are prepared to pay the rather steep price. Awesome club ....move over G5 you are now the backup!

What can I say...except, just incredible. The Club is difficult to try and work, but I will say that it is very straight and long, the guys at the Range were calling me the amazing Golf Ball ahh wacker guy, and said your the reason the range ball prices keep going up, becasue your hitting them past the borders of the range. The Pro came out and said well I guess you like the FT-i, Let me give it a wack...he agreed this club should be Bannned!!!The Club is very forgiving and does take some time to tweak your swing with allignment and aim..but once you nail that down watch out.....Ball goes Bye Bye....it looks like the only fairways I will be missing will be the ones that I Drive through, because the fairway ended. Calloway Hit it on the screws with this club. Dont try this club unless your ready to dump the cash..becasue you will purchase it.

Wow! I have played 4 rounds with this driver (9 degree neutral), only found my drives in the rough twice. This makes 2nd shot really easy and ended up with approx. 87% GIR on these 4 rounds. Distance is o.k. due to too much spin from light shaft. I changed to TOUR (9.5 degree neutral) model and found MAGIC! The heavier and stiffer shaft works wonderful with the club head balance, distance is 20 yards better than the lighter shaft. This club will change your game immediately. I recommend this buying this driver over spending on golf lessons (only if your game has sound fundamental). Now, we need square head fairway wood from Callaway!

I'll come right out and say it - I had no intention of ever playing a square-headed driver. I tried it on a lark at Demo day after I had hit a couple bags of balls. I tried some other drivers too, but the Ft-i just blew my mind!

Mis-hits are very well controlled, much straighter than with my usual driver or any of the other drivers I tried that day. Club feels extraordinarily solid at impact, and extremely stable throughout the swing. I haven't had it long enough to reliably comment on any distance I've picked up, but it looks to be in the area of 10 yds (from an ave of 285 before to approx 295 now). Ball seems to explode off the face. After about 2 balls I quit focusing on the square head and started focusing on more important things like trajectory, curvature of the ball, how much time the ball stayed in the air, etc. . . After much deliberation (consult with wife to ensure I wouldn't be killed for buying a new driver) I ended up purchasing one.

A comment about the shape of the head; it doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. Callaway has done a nice job of softening the lines of the head so, even though it is square, it isn't hard to look at. Now the similar Nike model just looks horrible . . .

I can't imagine who wouldn't benefit from this club. With the variety of lofts and clubface options (from 0.5 open to 2.0 closed), the amount of forgiveness/stability, etc., I'd say every level of player stands to gain from using this club. Don't try it if you aren't looking to buy, because after you hit a few with it you will need to buy one and they aren't cheap!

Again . . . I own no other Callaway clubs, I don't usually like them. I had no intention of buying a square headed driver. I strongly prefer very traditional looking clubs. I suggest buying stock in Callaway soon, because they are going to make a MINT on this club!

Best driver I've ever hit! Hard to give a 5 for value, though, to a club with a MSRP of $629.

Customer Service

Never dealt with Callaway in any capacity, so have no idea.

I like the best I can afford. Consequently I use TM CGB irons, Pro V1 balls, and a Scotty Cameron putter. Up till last week I was happy to use my TM R7 Draw driver. Then I tried the Callaway FTi driver, with a draw setting and light shaft. Awsome. Paid top dollar and worth every cent. Golf is in the mind, and in this case in the design. It's a no-brainer decision, a must have!

Customer Service

Superb. Fitted by Callaway technician and club made in their touring van.

Model Reviewed: Callaway FT-i, 11* neutral, reg. shaft

Just spent a couple of hours at an FT-i launch evening with the guys from Callaway. I was looking for a driver to hit the ball straight down the middle to minimise the effect of the occasional hook or slice that creeps in on the tee, taking a club with a neutral bias head.
That square head sits beautifully behind the ball; if you're not lined up properly, its obvious. No excuses. Similar philosophy to Odyssey two-ball alignment putters me thinks.
The head and shaft felt really well matched as I took the head back slowly. A couple of seconds later, and 'crack'! Callaway have brought us yet another new driver sound, thankfully more pleasing than that of the FT-3.
The ball flew long and straight. Really long. I hit another 24 balls, all of which would probably have landed on your fairway. The guy a couple of bays down came over and asked me what the hell I was hitting; "The road" I said, "with a new driver in my bag".

If you don't want to part with what yet won't be discounted sizable chunks of dosh, take my advice; do not hit a ball with this club. Better advice might be to suggest that you start saving your pennies, then start saving your strokes.

This club has very little feel. It looks horrible at address. The distance wasn't bad, about same as my current 460 SZ cobra. It may be a little more forgiving, but it is definitely not worth the price.

WOW!
Went to the golf shop to see what the hype was all about with these new square drivers. I took a couple of swings and was hooked. Took it to the range that same day and liked it even more. I gained about 15 yards over my R7, and found it hard to hit anything other that a straight shot. It is a little big and awkward looking at first, but you get used to it quickly. Great club, score one for Callaway!!

Customer Service

Have not used it for this club but have used it in the past. Callaway has a top notch service dept.

WOW!
I went into the golf store to see what all of the hype was behind the new sqare drivers. After only a few swings I was hooked. I took it to the range the same day and was even more impressed. I gained about 15 yards over my R7, and found it darn near impossible to not hit it straight. It is a little funky looking at first, but you get used to it quickly. Great club, long and straight.
