I HIT THE FT-I FOR 18 HOLES AND WAS VERY SURPRISED AT THE STRAIGHT SHOTS IT PRODUCED. EVEN OFF CENTER SHOTS CAME BACK IN PLAY! WHEN YOU HIT THIS DRIVER ON THE FACE IT LOOKS LIKE YOU CRUSHED IT! THEN WHEN YOU GO UP TO FIND IT IT IS NOT AS FAR AS YOU THOUGHT. I THEN ASKED THE PRO IF I COULD DEMO THE FT-5. THE FT-5 FOR ME IS 25 YARDS LONGER THAN THE FT-I! THERE IS NO COMPARISON IN DISTANCE. THE PRO SAYS IT IS BECAUSE OF THE SPIN RATE IS HIGHER ON THE FT-I (SPIN IS BAD FOR DISTANCE).IF YOU WANT STRAIGHT GET THE FT-I, IF YOU WANT TO HIT THE BALL 300+ YARDS GET THE FT-5 |

I'm also one of those guys who didn't like the FT-i. I work in a local pro shop and hit it when it came in (but only in the simulator) and wans't very impressed. I wanted to give it another shot against my TaylorMade R7 460 so I took it out to the rang to get a real comparison. I hit three balls with each over and over. I simply couldn't argue with the results! The consistancy from the FT-i compared to the R7 was un-questionable. I love it!! It is pricy at retail, which is sad because it takes the technology out of reach of a lot of people who need it, but over all a GREAT club! |

Tryed my friends out for 9 holes last weekend, loved it, very forgiving, dead center hits are not as far as your other driver, but off center hits go almost as far as center hits. I love it, and the distance isnt significant, you just cant get that crazy shot that makes your jaw drop anymore, consistency is the root of success, and this driver delivers, its pricey though, I bought the Nickent on Ebay for uner 100 bucks, will post a review on the nickent 3DX soon. |

FT-I 9 draw
This club has helped me keep the ball in the fairway. A bad swing will still produce a bad result but for the most part the FT-I is pretty straight.

I went to Golfsmith to try out the new Ping G10 driver and tested the Callaway FT-i mostly out of curiosity because I had never hit any of the squared headed drivers before.

Callaway FT-i neutral 9 deg stiff
first of all, i bought a 9 degree neutral stiff with fuji 586 speeder shaft as callaways tend to go high. the 9 actually feels like a 10 degree sometimes, but i like the trajectory the 9 has. i think a 10 might go too high. anyways, i was bombing this driver at the range, it was so easy to hit. most shots 90% were straight. the other 10% might have been very slight fades, or heel shots that came back fairly straight. i don't know why everyone says this club is short, i felt it was just as long or longer then my other drivers. it's supposed to be 46" lenght shaft but doesn't feel like it to me. if you like working it, don't buy this club. i can fade this club, but only slightly, i couldn't get it to hook though and mine has a 1 degree closed face, which is not noticeable. mis-hits you can tell immediately, as well as when you crush the ball. the 586 shaft feels good, not boardy and the square shape doesn't bother me at all either. overall, a nice correcting club that really works. i'll give the club 4 stars for value just because they are still a bit pricey in the retail area. I may be very unpopular for my opening statement, but in my experience there is little difference in the distance you would hit the ball with any of the big headed drivers given the:

Callaway FT i 10 deg. draw
I am 60 with a swing speed of 85-87 and was hitting 200-220 yards but all over the place. I demoed one of these FTi's at our club last week. Tried all the lofts and settled on the 10. It is STRAIGHT. I used to shoot in the 90's (and occasionally as low as 83-84)until I joined my current club. Now I play hell breaking 100. The fairways are narrow paths though the trees with fluffy rough that steals you balls. I need a club that will go straight. Because I can trust the club, I was able to actually swing with more confidence and picked up 10-15 yards. I am in the process of buying one now. Similar Products Used: Currently using HS-9. I rarely ever take the time to write a review, but let me tell you, this club is something else. I went to the range the other day and hit a bucket of balls -not one had my characteristic "fade" and all were the straightest I've ever hit. Hits were solid and noticeably longer. There is no doubt that the club/ball contact is loud, but I like it. Check them out of Ebay and they can be had for under $300. |
