I agree with other reviewers who do not approve of the light weight, sound at impact and feel of the club. However, for a high handicapper trying to break 100 this year, this club is the one. Very forgiving and long even with slow swing speed. Maybe once I'm regularly in the 80's I'll realize that this club sucks but for now it's my favorite.

I know that most of the low handicappers hate this club. It has a wierd feel and a strange sound. I am a beginner and a hacker. If you are a mid-high handicapper, ignore the negative stuff you have heard. This club is 20 yards longer than my previous driver and very forgiving. If you can get past the feel and the sound, you will find that this is an outstanding club. Very easy to hit and Long.

I have played it since Feb 2002. For me,very, very long, way beyond forgiving. It feels good and has made me change how I play irons as I am deeper and closer to the greens than ever before. Ball flight is high, carrys well and gets plenty of roll after touchdown. My playing partners with big driving ability did not initially like this club. But, they admit it has changed my game dramatically and I have made some converts on the course as I am now up with them or by them. The club demos poorly at the store and feels lifeless with dead range balls. It jumps to life with a golf course and a good ball. Using the C4 is almost like cheating it is so easy to hit.

This club is very nice... The big black head sits beautyfully behinde the small white ball. At adress it gives you loads of confidence. It`s very light, so any player should be able to create much swing speed. I tried this club on the course for the first time, and the club felt very nice to swing. I drove the ball 350 yards... I have never seen a ball behave like that. It does not have the boring flight alot of other drivers have. It when high and VERY far.. People behinf me coulf not belive the ball flight and ball speed. The onli con, is that it does not make that nice Callaway trademark sound. It has a plump "klank" sound. But if you are in the marked for a new driver, buy this instead of the ERC 2.

I tried many drivers b4 c4 - TM, Ping, Titleist, GBB, ERC, hawkeye, cleveland, S-yard, homma, bridgestone. i must say my performance on C4 is BEST - straight, lots of roll, long, ball flight control. the shortcomings that put people off are usually light weight and no sound. if u can put aside the sound element, it is just great - v forgiving, improved club head speed (lighter head & longer shaft). I think those 'hitter' will find it not good, coz not enough weight there for them to hit, but I am a 'swinger' and the lighter head let me swing in a more sync manner, so maximize the power generated from the swing. So those reviewers who said 'no feel' are v likely big hitters. If u r not those, try it. I've decided to stick with c4 for the rest of my game, coz no stick has given me the kind of performance I am enjoying.

Ely Callaway must be turning over in his grave. This club sucks so bad it should be reviewed in the vaccum cleaner section. The feel is poor, yes, but you could put up with that if there was even a hint of consistency in how this thing performs. Hit it on the screws five straight times yesterday, with varying results. Used stock stiff shaft, and it sucks badly. Why buy a $429 club and re-shaft it? Callaway should be ashamed of themselves, but what the hell do they care? They keep laughing all the way to the bank.

This club is like hitting a marshmellow. Absolutely no feel, and the Callaway shaft is just awful. With all the big drivers out there, Callaway has lost it's edge (I myself have played Callaway since the first model came out). However, the new pretty black colors and hype about the C4 materials are sure to catch the eyes of many people (like me). Hit it once, and you'll be looking to get rid of it soon. Do yourself a favor, and get Ping Ti Tec or a Titleist 975J.

Model Reviewed: 9* firm and strong flex (both)

demoed this club against my launcher 8.5*, tried several differant flex and loft combinations, came away totally un-impressed. i have a consistant combination of distance and accuracy with the launcher, the c4 just simply didn't compete. trajectories seemed inconsistant, distances were acceptable but consistantly less than the launcher. i have hit the vft and considered it a very good club, very competitive with the launcher, the c4 simply isn't. i actually came away from the whole experiance wondering why callaway decided to go this direction, the vft is much better. if you're a big callaway fan get the vft, if you already own the vft, keep it!
