Most forgiving driver I've hit with this shaft combination (90 swing speed). Are going for a song now due to newer(2 yrs old) models in various mftrs that don't deliver any appreciable differences including Callaway. Save some money and check this driver out. It's acclaimed as the best driver Callaway ever made.(as were the BB 2002 irons).

I'm a beginner and bought a mediocre golf set. I couldn't hit with the stock driver, but once I tried using one of my friend's Big Bertha, I hit my first descent shot. This driver is very forgiving and delivers farther distance than my cheap stock driver. It also boost my confidence.

Ok,

Here's the deal; for those who don't know already!

This club is still my longest driver! Eqipped with a Fujikura Fit on 11 BT46 2X Flex, my last blockbuster was for over 360 yards on a 403 yard par 4! Yep, you guessed it, 3qtr swing with the SW onto the green and one putt birdie! Sweet! Enough said!

Now, in all seriousness, it is no secret if your swing fundamental are out of sync it won't matter what you buy; Sasquatch, Hi-bore, G5, whatever, the ball "ain't going nowhere"! But if the fundamentals are there and the tempo is good, "Good night Irene!"

Just wait until I tame my X460!

Good luck and keep it in the short grass!

I had previously been using a Wilson driver I got in the bargain bin at Golftown. But this year I have started to play golf a lot more frequently and want to get some decent equipment to learn with.

I picked up the 454 with the regular flex shaft. My previous driver was a stiff and I think with my swing that was a detriment.

Upon getting the driver I headed out to the range. In the past I usually drove around 190-200. 220 if I really got a hold of it. But with my old driver I never really got much of a ballflight so distance suffered.

First shot with the 454 sliced. Second one was dead straight around 265 yards. I kept hitting thru the bucket and saw similar distances. To sum up the performance difference my normal drives are now around 220-230 and I nail a good one a lot more often for 260-275.

As for the asthetics of the club. It's a nice simple looking club. Nothing jazzy about it. Some people complain that the head is too big. Maybe if your switching from a persimmon driver it might seem large. But if your moving from a 350cc+ driver it doesn't seem large at all.

Excellent club. This set the ball rolling for the big head jobs. For a while was the club that broke all distance records. Tee it a little higher and it flies, if hit properly. Those who write negative of this club either needed to put more time in with it or get some lessons.

It's a Beauty! Have it with the Adila NV 65 stiff shaft. Always played with a Regular flex shaft, so the shift to a stiff flex, when I'm not a huge hitter might be the difference. Don't know, but I do know I've never hit a driver better, with as much consistency as this one. Love the Feel, look, sound, performance. I don't plan on replacing this one for a long, long time.

One word,..LLLOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNGG!!!!! I went out to my course and I brought the new, tour prefered R7 425 driver by Taylormade, the #1 driver on the PGA tour, and I brought the Callaway Big Bertha 454. Side by side, the R7 425 looks a lot racier than The Callaway, which looks like a bowling ball on the end of a stick. I was already familiar with what I could do with the R7, the slight fade configuration in the movable weights is what works best for me with a stiff flex, fuj. stock shaft. The Callaway had a Grafalloy Pro Launch blue stiff flex on it. My first few drives were a little left of center, mostly because of the size of this driver made me think you have to put it further up your stance. After realizing that I wasn't lineing up the ball right, m drives were in the middle, or slightly left of center, and 20 to 30 yards longer than the R7 consistantly. The 2 things I really liked more about this driver was the weight and the feel of and after contact. The R7 had a some what muted feel which I really didn't seem to mind simply because being in the middle of the fairway always gets a smile, but you can feel the ball bounce off of this club. You know you hit the ball with a very hot face, and it's jaw dropping to see the distance you get.
Contributing to the distance I got with this club had to be the fact it was surprisingly lighter than the R7, allowing me to swing faster. And with the size of the head, I had a lot of confidence I was going to make contact with the ball. This club out performed the most talked about, #1 driver on tour in just about every catigory. If your looking for a new driver, put this one on your list and save yourself about $150.00. You'll find the fairways with this one, keeps the ball straight and very, very long! Instead of an 8 iron into greens on par 4's, I'm using 9's, pitches, gaps and sand wedge. Don't know why it's not in more touring pro's bags, but I highly recomend this club to anyone who'd like a stronger tee box game!

Callaway isn't my first name brand choice in golf equipment, but everything I've tried by them seems to be top quality and top notch!

Only been playing for one year. Was shooting in the 120 - 130 range (probably 25 rounds total). One of my big problems was duffed drives using the Callaway Warbird (oh yeah, I'm a lefty). I would often either be in the water, or popped up 50 yards from the tee or 175 yards in the deep rough. Maybe once or twice a round, I'd hit a "perfect" drive and be 200 - 225 yards in the middle of the fairway.

Found this club lightly used for $150 at a local range/shop. Hit a few balls and bought it immediately. Played 9 holes the next day and instead of shooting 59 - 70, shot a 51. Next round was 18 and I shot a 101. Biggest differences are very few miss-hits and distance, distance, distance. I've been getting pretty consistant 250-275 (and even put one about 300 yards even with a slight fade in the middle of the fairway on a dogleg left) whereas I would be lucky to get 225 on a "perfect" drive, and I'd hit at least 5 - 6 total crap drives a round with the Warbird (not blaming the club, but I never got a handle on it).

Most shots are either nice fades or slices (when they get away from me) but I get the occasional straight line drive hit, and the air time and height on most of my drives is staggering. I'm now hitting about 3 - 4 greens in regulation and even ended up green high (but right) on my second shot on a 485 short par 5. That would have been unheard of previously.

I've now shaved an average of 15 - 20 points from my score virtually from one weekend to the next. I suspect that I'll plateau for a little while soon, but expect that I'll see additional improvement as I can start to improve other areas of my game without having to worrying as much about my drives. The nice thing is that it's translating to more confidence in the rest of my game. I don't know how much impact this club would have for someone who already shoots in the 70s or 80s, but for beginners, I can't think of a better way to jumpstart your game. However, obviously, people need to actually hit the club for themselves to see if it's comfortable.

I'm 51 BTW.

An excellent driver with good weight on the club head, excellent sound, good distance and very forgiving. This club won the longest drive in the 2004 world long drive championship and I can see why. You can really have a go and not worry too much about the ball moving off line.

Callaway Big Bertha Titanium 454 is a P.O.S. Dead, no feel or feedback! I've played for 30 years and have owned Ping, Taylormade, Cobra, Lynx, MacGregor, and even Top Flite drivers. The Bertha is far and away the worst.

Customer Service

After realizing the Callaway was a P.O.S. (about the third hole) I said, "Well, I've got $300 plus tied up in this thing so I'll try to trade it back to Callaway for something else." I emailed Callaway of my dissatisfaction and asked if they would consider helping me out with a trade since the club was all but brand new. Even stated that I wasn't looking for a freebie, that I was willing to pay for my mistake. I waited 4 weeks for a reply, then sold it on Ebay to some poor devil, and while I was at it, my Callaway Pro Series Irons too because they didn't answer my email. Now, I will never own another Callaway product as long as I live. If all their drivers are like the Big Bertha 454, I won't miss a damned thing. Enjoy'em boys, I've had the last one I'll ever own.
