to all of you people that say that the 11 degree model is the only illegal club, take a look at
http://www.usga.org/press/list_of_clubs.html
and find where it says Callaway ERC 2. you unfortunately are incorrect.

also, keep in mind that you will only get the yardage boost if you hit the ball in the CENTER of the sweet spot, less than the size of a dime. and, if you slice the ball, it will just go 20 yards farther INTO THE WOODS.

Had it for 3 months now and previously used the Hawkeye for 2 years.
Now using 8 degree regular flex and am 35 yards longer than my 9 degree regular Hawkeye. I changed because of the arthritis I have in my fingers, With a precept Lady ball and oversized grips I can really swing and not worry about harsh vibration. All mishits go far.
Best drive to date is 365 with a 15 mile per hour wind behind me.
Previously, best drives with the Hawkeye were 255 - 270. Best drives routinely now are 285-305. My problem now is if I don't hit it straight (It happens!) the ball is in "Deep Woods Off" territory!

A note of caution - this club even with 8 degrees -launches the Lady Precept HIGH. Believe it or not a 7 degree shaft would probably give even a more optimum angle for the ball.
Problem is my golfing buddies hate my guts already for driving 30 yards past them with a routine swing!

I don't use it in tournaments but without it I couldn't play golf any more because of the arthritis pain.

THIS IS A REALLY AWFUL GOLF CLUB, WHEN YOU DO CATCH IT, IT GOES VERY LONG BUT YOU NEED A VERY REPETITIVE SWING TO USE IT EFFECTIVELY CERTAIN BAD STRIKES ARE LIABLE TO FLY ABOUT 75 YARDS WITH VIOLENT SHAPES THESE SHOTS CAN BE VERY COSTLY. IT'S JUST NOT A CLUB YOU CAN RELY ON I SOLD MINE ON AFTER 10 DAYS SOMEONE ELSE CAN GET ANNOYED WITH IT.

I have tried both the ERC I (home)& ERC II in USA. I didn't purchase...my friends would allow me to bet with illegal driver. I did prefer the ERC I better....but the best club Callaway made is the GBB if you find on the market the right shaft for you. I am expecting to try the VFT hawk eye soon...maybee it's the one!

Customer Service

Callaway give a great service but in Canada (Victoria) it takes a very long time for reparation...over 3 weeks minimum.....plus they seem to not have a full equiped repair shop. They need to be supported by the Californian repair shop. I am desappointed in that regard....the time it takes. Fine people though!

Overall a very larger club face. Need a slightly higher tee to hit better and straighter. Off hits promotes a slice, otherwise a good club.
A bit pricy.
Does not help those with higher handicap unless you have a very good swing.

Definetely not worth the money. It may be longer on solid hits but the sweetspot must be very small. Should have bought a ping or Bazooka 320j or anything else at least something legal. What was I thinking?

I just purchased the ERC a couple of weeks ago. I don't keep a handicap...just play with several friends at local courses. I'm not a very big driver, so they're not threat by me using this club. I am definitely hitting the ERC longer than my old driver. Off Center hits sound dead and lack feel, but still produce very good distance. I find the club to be very forgiving but no more than the other oversize drivers (Ping, BBB, Taylor Made 300's). I really enjoy the club but I question if it is worth its selling price.

GREAT!!!!From the moment at setup before i hit the ball i could feel it was gonna be a good one. i usually hit woods on the heel. the driver i hit before the erc 2 i hit on the heel five times but when i hit the erc 2 dead center all 10 times. so i bought it. too bad i can't use it in tournaments. i might get the hawk eye vft which is conforming.

I have read most of the reviews here, and today I tried the Callaway ERC II Driver. I only have one way to describe the experience....HOLY SH#T THIS CLUB IS UNBELIEVABLE! Now I know why they have banned it....it's because this thing is dangerous! Could you imagine if everyone on the golf course was armed with one of these? It would be like a war zone complete with casualties. I'm going to start wearing a helmet knowing these clubs are around. Golf balls could potentially come in from 400 yards in any direction, you wouldn't even hear "fore" (unless they used a bullhorn).
Anyway, all joking aside, this club is awsome...period. However, I refuse to fork over this much money for a club (actually I can't afford it)- I would only be able to afford two clubs, the Callaway ERC II and a putter, I would look dorky walking around the course with two clubs in my bag. These things are fun to hit but way too expensive (deep down I would buy one if they were cheaper, just for the distance show-off factor alone). I do believe these clubs will prevail and become more accepted, only sales will tell. I would recommend you try this club it really is fun.

One word: WOW.

I'm 25, 6' 200lbs and I've been playing off and on for about 15 years. I've been hitting a consistent 250 of the tee since I was about 15 (way back when 250 actually was a solid drive). Now that everyone hits close to 250 with loaded balls and clubs, I figured I'd upgrade from my OLD but very reliable Yonex Super ADX 200 graph driver to the ERC II. What a difference a club makes. I kid you not, 90% of the balls I hit carried 250+. Though the ERC is not as forgiving as the Yonex or the Great Big Bertha I have in my bag (for holes without 300 YD dead straight fairways), it is fairly easy to hit. Mishits (toe or heel) sacrifice AT LEAST 25 yds though. But hey, if I miss it and still hit it 250 down the left side of the fairway, I'll be happy any day. Surprisingly, it's easier to hit than I thought. I'd heard it was very unforgiving, for low h-cappers, etc. But I'm a very inconsistent player with about an 18 cap and I hit about 100 balls at the range the day I got it and only mis hit about 10. Nothing under 225 though. Very Impressed.

If you have a back-up club for tournaments and just want something to have fun with and elicit some jaw-dropping reactions, the ERC II is the best thing you can get.

PS. Plain and simple truth is, if you have a hard time hitting this club, then you have no business hitting anything but iron off the tee.

Callaway Great Big Bertha - slightly more forgiving, but a LOT shorter.

Callaway Biggest BB - A great all around can't miss club. But it just doesn't have the distance of the ERC or the forgiveness of the GBB.
