Callaway Big Bertha 460 Drivers

Callaway Big Bertha 460 Drivers

DESCRIPTION

The Big Bertha 460 Driver is designed with a geometry close to the dimensional limit set by the USGA/R&A for length and width. This enables Callaway Golf engineers to incorporate a 460cc head design with a shallower face, flatter shape and the highest Moment of Inertia ever in a Callaway Golf all-titanium head-resulting in longer and straighter off-center shots. In addition, the Stretched Head Design allows the center of gravity (CG) to be positioned deeper within the clubhead to achieve optimum ball flight and maximum forgiveness.

I Changed my 11º reg persimon driver to the first Taylor Made 9º reg steel driver many years ago. I hit the ball very high with all my clubs and I was very happy with that little driver head. Then changed to the Callaway 9º stiff Hawk Eye VFT. It was very difficult to hit and seemed to loose distance due to very low ball flight, so I seldom hit it. Then changed to the first 10.5º reg Taylor Made R7 quad driver. I got good distance but also difficult to hit and only worked with the heavy screws at the back. I seldom hit it and only played hybrids. Last month I bought the 11º reg 460 BB driver. It is a world in it´s own. First thing it looks nice. It looks incredibly easy. The shaft seems to be very short and you feel as if you were hitting a hybrid iron. The heads sits perfect on the ground. The feedback you receive is always confidence, confidence, confidence. You look forward to the next tee to play your driver. Remenber I previously almost never hit may previous drivers. The white line helps you a lot in squaring the face. Although the shaft is very soft, the feel and distance is good enough. Being the shaft so soft it promotes a correct pace of swing. Being the driver so light you easily achieve a great swing speed. It is so easy to hit that it is very difficult not to hit a decent shot. Sweet spot shofts feel normal. Corner shots feel like the shaft is bending too much and at the same time gearing the shot as it will end in the fairway with little distance loose. Almost all balls are going to end long and in the fairway. It may not be the longest man but it definetively is the easiest and that is mucht to say when you are talking about the most difficult club in the bag. Now it is easier for me to play than my hybrids. If you are not a scratch player you better take a look. Handicap 15, five iron distance 170 yards and 40 years old. It is a bargain.

There is a lot of rubbish reviews out there but I plan to make an honest one.

I have never had confidence off the tee and decided to purchase the Callaway Big Bertha 460 driver off ebay. What a purchase.

Im not going to lie to you, you will not suddenly hit over 300 yards. You will however find it a whole lot easier to hit the ball straight. I am now on the fairway roughly 16 or 17 out of 18 holes, previously I was lucky to be on 9.

You will not be disappointed if you are looking to hit the fairways off the tee. When you catch it sweet too the ball will fly.

If you are looking for a driver to inspire confidence this is the club for you.

I have had the Titleist 983 E for about 6 months that I bought used, and as an ex-college baseball player I am long off the tee. The Titleist driver would crush one out of every 10 or so dead nuts, but the consistency in my swing was not there.

I tried the Big Bertha 460 on a range and hit it about 30 yds further than the Nike SQ and the new Cleveland hollow sounding drivers. And dead straight, I bought it that night.

In my first round with my new driver I hit over 60% of fairways, and my distance was ridiculous. I hit more than one drive over 320 yds, and this is legit, we played at a course with GPS carts that measured from the tee box. I'm not trying to brag, but this will give me more time to work on my short game, which desperately needs it.

I spent last week trying out drivers to replace my old one. I recently developed a habit of hitting a very bad hook near the end of rounds once I began to fatigue (old age can do that to you). When the club pro came into the shop on Monday he suggested I try hitting different shafts using the Big bertha 460 driver so we could get the weight right for the new driver (different brand than BB460) I planned to order. After I hit the BB460 for the first time I was stunned by how easy it was to hit. This driver wasn't even on my list of candidates. I'm a long hitter and it felt like I was hitting a wedge instead of a driver. I bought one off the shelf on the spot and went straight to the course and shot my lowest round of the year. This game is a lot easier when you play it from the short grass using driver / wedge to hit the greens. I may have lost a yard or 2 in distance, but not having to go around trees or hit from sand traps more than makes up for it.

I bought this driver from a guy that had used it twice.  I had priviously bought the Cleveland Hibore XL and was very disapointed in the distance and how straight my ball went.  Since getting the Big Bertha my game has drastically improved.  I am not driving over 280 consistantly and perfectly straight.  I highly recommend it to anyone with a slice or someone looking for a club that still performs great after off-center hits.

Forgiving and easy to hit straight. But no distance compared to most other drivers. This and the Sasquatch produced the shortest drives. The sight line paint chips with ball contact making the club look ugly quick. I would not recommend this driver.

Cally has great customer service. But not the preowned site. They are just lousy.

I played with a great big bertha for almost 15 years and finally it broke so i replaced it with the 460. I like the look of the club and the familiar callaway arrow on top of the clubhead.
Switching to this modern driver I feel like I am cheating. Its so much more forgiving than my old driver, which was one of the more forgiving of the drivers available in the early 90s.
The distance is not much different, usually 250-300 depending on wind and slope. But the duck hooks that used to happen when I didnt hit the GBB perfect are totally gone. BB460 hits it straight, straight, straight!

Solid feel, accurate club. Draw bias evident on mis-hits and offers reasonable correction on fades and slices. Finding more fairways as a result. Good value buying on a solid golf brand.

Customer Service

Excellent. Broke a shaft in the first week of ownership and Callaway replaced without argument.
