2004 Callaway Big Bertha Titanium 8 degrees
I had an old Taylor Made driver and needed a change. I went to Edwin Watts and ordered it new for 179.99 with Grafalloy Blue Stiff Shaft. This driver does not work miracles if your swing sucks. I had swing faults and until i corrected them, I found myself slicing the ball more often than not. After fixing my swing faults, i can hit this 260-280 every time. Keep in mind I have a swing speed of 110 mph. The head of the driver is a perfect size, and it allows you to tee the ball lower than you would with normal "oversize drivers." Overall i'm very happy. For 180 to 200 bucks its a steal. Similar Products Used: Taylor Made TI Bubble 2, Callaway Steelhead III, Titleist 983K (OVERRATED) |

I've had this driver a couple months now and i've been waiting to write a review on it because i was pretty sure i was gonna change the shaft. i like the response off the clubhead but i could tell the shaft just had too much torque. whenever i went after it more aggressively i usually lost it to the right. i had the stock shafts were not the greatest and i have to agree with that. i decided to put a grafalloy pro-lite 35 shaft stiff flex in the club and it made quite a bit of difference. i've got better control without losing any distance. actually i think i've gained a little distance probably due to being able to swing with more confidence. this is a really nice driver that sets up great (doesn't look closed face like some of the previous callaway models). i would recommend it. if you have trouble with control, look into replacing the shaft and remember it has .350 tip. Customer Service golfsmith replace my shaft and did a good job. |

Callaway Big Bertha '04 Ti Driver
I'm surprised there aren't more reviews of this club. Fore the average golfer there is not a better driver on the market at this price point. I am not the type to buy clubs on a whim, I spend months trying, researching and reading reviews before I buy. After a 6 month search for the perfect driver to replace my worn out 5 year old Taylor made firesole, I selected the Big Bertha Ti, 10 degree with Regular factory shaft. I make great contact with this driver and it does'nt sound like your hitting a big block of wood. I tried all the Taylor Made 500 series, the Big Bertha II, and Titleist and this one is the best for my money. Half the price of the others and it works! I love this club and it builds confidence. I find that I use the driver more off the tee than ever before. Yesterday, it helped me win a long drive competition for my flight, something that was unheard of for me with my old equipment. Do yourself a favor, try this club. Customer Service never had to use, callaway makes durable, quality products Similar Products Used: Taylor Made 500 series, Big Bertha II, Titleist, others. |

Congratulations, Callaway on making a great driver. You can get much faster clubhead speed with the 360cc head compared to larger models. The factory stock shaft is great as well. I used to drive about 230-240 yds and slicing, but now I am hitting 270-280 with a slight draw since getting this driver Customer Service n/a Similar Products Used: Callaway Steelhead Plus, Ping Si3, MacGregor V-Foil, Adams Redline |

2004 Big Bertha 9 degree driver
Ist let me say that I am capable of shooting anything from 76 to 96, depending on the day, the course, and how much I have had to drink the night before. Now let's get to the good stuff. I have owned, and played everything from A to Z, and I can tell you I have finally found a driver that will be in the bag for sometime. I first demoed this club at a local demo-dome, with the stock RCH firm graphite, and within 10 balls, I was drawing, and fading the ball at will. I couldn't seem to hit a bad shot. I demoed this club with some hesitation, because I had owned the quote, unquote, higher end GBB2. There is no comparison, the 2004 Big Bertha left me feeling that the GBB2 had been a large waste of Callaway's time. It wasn't even close. I left the dome, and went home to look for this driver, on the internet, as I was not about to pay MSRP for this, or any other club. I found a Brand New 2004 Callaway Big Bertha 9 degree driver on ebay with a factory installed Aldila NV-65 "S" flex shaft upgrade for $200.00 total. This wasnt the shaft that I had demoed, but for that price, I said what the heck. I received my club, and immediately went to the course. The results were unbelievable. I have never in my 15 years playing golf hit anything that straight, or long off the tee, with such ease. I almost broke 80 the 1st round that I had it in the bag, and I'm sure there are more days ahead like this one. This an absolute 5 star club, especially when you consider it's price tag. I recommend it to anyone, and dont be afraid to try the NV-65 shaft, it is scary good. Customer Service Awesome. Callaway Big Bertha Titanium (2004)
Smooth and sweet based on one day on the range. Been playing a VFT 10 degree for 4 years, basically happy with it, but thinking that 4 years is a long time for driver technology. Bought and used a Cobra 427 last year, ultimately sold it and continued with VFT - for me, the VFT was much more a players club, able to work the ball when I wanted, and I didn't consistently get extra distance from the Cobra. Recently decided to again see if a technology upgrade would make a difference. Found ClubCart, a travelling club demo provider at some local courses. How great is it to be able to hit most of the current and best technology, on a range, with vector analysis and several knowledgeable guys around?!? With no hard sell? Great!!! (For the skeptics, I don't have anything to do with ClubCart, just a fan). So, to the details. Hit the following: Mizuno 9 and 10 degree, regular and stiff flex (stock Excar titanium shaft) Callaway Big Bertha Titanium 9 degree firm flex Cleveland 460 9 degree regular flex Callaway VFT 10 degree firm flex (my current driver) Macgregor something or other (green head) TaylorMade 580 9 degree stiff flex KZG (or KGZ, or something like that) The results: Calloway Big Bertha - couldn't hit a bad shot, wonderful feel, what I would have chosen based on my perception after testing the cluds AND best stats on launch monitor Cleveland Launcher - second based on my perception after hitting and based on the launch monitor; clearly what I would have chosen if the Big Bertha hadn't been hit (and was I ever skeptical about the Big Bertha) Everything else - a muddled mix; the Macgregor was atrocious, the Mizunos OK (great feel, results mixed), the KZG worse than atrocious, the TaylorMade 580 OK (aesthetics DO MATTER: the Cleveland 460 is presumably as large as the TaylorMade 580, yet the Cleveland didn't look that big at setup, the TaylorMade looked bloated). The VFT - pretty good, and if the Big Bertha or the Cleveland weren't clearly better, I would stick with it. So there is a Big Bertha in my future. Like many reviewers, I will indicate my inclination to update my review after I purchase and use, but no promises! Customer Service No experience with Callaway. With Mizuno (my irons) I have had amazingly positive experiences - short wait times and great conversations with knowledgeable representatives. 2004 Big Bertha Titanium 9*
A very, very solid driver. A very good option if you don't want to buy the ERC Fusion or the GBB2. What I love most about this club is that misses don't go wild. It doesn't feel hot nor as explosive as the GBB2 or the 983K, but it has considerable pop. The feel off the club reminds me of the Steelhead 3 from two years ago, but the ballflight is so much higher. I think Callaway is making a club with high launch angles in mind. The Big Bertha surprised with how very responsive it is; off the sweet spot felt harsh and slappy while perfect shots felt like nothing. Yet it was still friendly enough to keep everything playable. I think its a fun club, it gets me close and in good position for a good score. Customer Service Worked with them before when my 6-iron snapped during a round. The sent a replacement within 2 days.
