Model Reviewed: Hogan Big Ben Driver 9.5*, Draw, Aldila stiff

Purchased on Ebay $83 shipped. I usually have a slight fade or slice off the tee. This club won't totally correct it, but I have noticed straighter drives in the two rounds I've played since the purchase Haven't noticed the big hooks with the draw bias like others have mentioned. The ball flight does seem higher than other 9.5* drivers that I've used, but as long as you strike it well there's no drop in distance. Club looks great, a feels great (well balanced), but the headcover sucks. Overall- I'd definitely recommend.

Customer Service

E-mailed Hogan about this club several times- quick response, good info.

This is the best driver I've ever used. It's a slice fixer! I bought the 3 and 5 wood too! These clubs are great. I bought the reg flex draw bias. For a guy who sliced his driver a lot. This will fix it!!!

Bought new from E-Bay for 72 USD. What a deal. 10.5 deg. Reg. Flex with Draw bias. Have not sliced once in 5 rounds. Will balloon high if tee up high. Medium height tee results in maximum distance. Love the clang off the face. Already this year dropped 7 strokes now that I start in the fairway. Tried R580XD in virtual driving range, sliced every time. Big Ben certainly solves that problem. Definitely considering Hogan 3 and 5 woods to match.

I feel I got "had" on my last driver purchase. I was upgrading my 10.5 and was looking for a lower loft and stiffer shaft. Ideally a 9.5 was what I wanted. The fitter/sales guy recommended the Callaway Steelhead Plus, 8 degree. 205cc. Controlling drives in the wind was always an issue for me so I thought this would do the trick as did the sales guy. While I can pound this club when all goes well, I am very inconsistent off the tee with it. Finding the fairway is a challenge. Seems that they were just trying to dump these hard to move 8 degree clubs.

I have now been searching for a 10.5 again, now knowing that a 15 hdcp like myself needs loft off the tee for accuracy. I have tried many oversize 460cc drivers, but none felt like a good switch or huge improvement until I tried this stick. Seamless transition, pounding them long and high (which seems to be the consistent review). When I would try the others, my group would warn me "Careful, that's a $600 swing." Thinking that I would fall in love and make a rash purchase. Never happened.

This club is a no-brainer and you can easily put it in your bag. From a golf and wallet perspective. Don't fall for the big name, big price hype sticks. Get what works for you.

I Just recently got back into golf with more strength than ever and needed a good driver too show it. I looked at many drivers, but wanted something more affordable. Then I came across Big Ben. The sound of the titanium face had me sold the first time I drove the ball, (which happened to be over 300 yds.) and put me 50 yds. short of the green. I highly recommend this driver as it has made the Tee box a more comfortable atmosphere. (I personally use the 8.5 neutral stiff shaft)

I've always had trouble getting a straight drive. I slice then over compensate and Pull one left. I tried 7 clubs "blind" at the pro shop indoor range. The pro completely covered the head so I didn't know what I was hitting.
This one felt best and hit the straightest for me. The rest, including Callaway and Taylor Made were much more difficult to hit a straight shot. I was suprised when the club I picked was this one. I love it! No more tee box jitters...I know it's going down the middle every time. I suggest you dump the bradn name hype and do what I did. After all, it's what works best for you that matters. Try this club. I think you'll be suprised.

I've only been playing for a little over a year. I got the C S3 driver/ 10.5 with a Aldila NV-H shaft for christmas and it's changed my game completely. I've always hit long, but now I hit my drives even longer and straighter. The flight is high with this club, but I always hit it high so it doesn't bother me. It's still going 300 plus. I'm a lefty and I love this club. Don't plan on changing anytime soon.

Model Reviewed: Ben Hogan Big Ben C-S3 10.5* NV Stiff Neutral Bias

Bought this club on EBay over the winter and waited until I played it a few rounds to write an honest review.
I never hit a driver with more than 9* loft, thought I'd give this one a try for the price ($68.00 EBay. I loved the feel of it and hit it straight, but way too high and no roll.It was like hitting a 250 yard 5 wood. I went back to my old Nike Forged last week and got the distance back, so I'll be giving the Hogan to my 16 year old son who is just really starting to take interest in the game.
I would highly recommend this club to anyone who has trouble getting the ball airborne. I basically got it to experiment with a higher lofted driver and if it didn't work out, the kid was getting a nice driver for very little money. Look around on EBay these babies can be had cheap.

I'm an 8 handicap who generally shoots in the low 80's (80-82)with an fairly occasional round in the mid to upper 70's. My achilles heel is the two or three tee shots per round that go off into the netherworld (resulting in penalties). The Hogan driver (10.5 degree, neutral bias)with the stiff Aldila shaft has been a godsend to me. I bought it when it first came out for 300.00 and it kills me that they are now 1/3 that price. I actually hit it farther and straighter than any other driver I've had in my bag. Now that I can find the fairway, I would expect that I could reasonably expect to drop my handicap at least three strokes. Thanks Ben for making golf fun again.
