I recently broke my Cleveland hi-bore driver, a friend loaned me the adams insight xtd, aldila stiff, 55gram shaft.
I am a 10 hadicapp, hit the driver about the same distance as I did the Cleveland 230 or so.
my age is 73, so don't depend on longer drives, but I chip and putt with the big boys ! Friend wants 50 bucks for the driver, guess I'll spring for it. Reading the other reviews, hope the head stays on--so far, I have found the driver reliable, straight, and am having fun.

mine broke TWICE ended up having an extention put on grip . Stiffer at head now. I think we should all demand a recall
Adams should do something about this. If they care about their customers.I have an Adams bag and set of Tight lies clubs . I also wear an adams hat.I like the clubs and the driver but if I like many others feel like we have been ripped off or feel like Adaams dont care if we buy their product--I can swing another brand.

Fragile club unfortunately, because otherwise great.
I have used a few big name drivers out there Callaway, Cleveland etc and purchased this one from play it again sports in Chandler az. Right off the bat I was bombing this driver 280-300 yes, mostly straight, as I found it to be forgiving of my slices and hooks (I can hit the ball far, but without precise control) but after, I guess about 25 strokes, and without warning, the head snapped clean off with a break hidden inside the hosel. The last time I broke a club in this manner was 12 years ago, except that was when I didn't know how to swing the club. This one happened without ONCE touching the dirt. After getting it back from the range, the pricetag was still intact without a single mark on it ( on the bottom of the clubhead). I took it back and was issued a store credit without question thankfully.

Since I read now that this is not the first of it happening, I will have to agree that it cannot be recommended, and as I still have not heard from Adams (I emailed them to see about fixing it) I would conclude that there must be a design flaw that leads it to have structural integrity issues when hit under normal circumstances. I swing the club hard, but my arc is relatively short with my 5'8" frame.

I am hoping that the a4 reviews don't show similar issues, as I was truly impressed off the start and was lucky to find the fault when I did (I had put it back in the bag, and decided to give it a few more whacks-I woukdve missed the return window had I not given that last shot).

For the money, I see that the Cleveland Launcher has made more than a few loyal customers, claiming it outperforms the latest flashy drivers and technology, so I will probably try that next, unless I can come upon a new Adams a4 or speedline (WITH A WARRANTY) although it is discouraging to hear the customer service treats customers that way from the other reviewers.

Most likely I will go with the Cleveland launcher, though I do like the monster hi bore, despite the negative reviews I've read here.

I have read all the posts...I have a sad tale as well. I bought the first Adams a3 (9.5) about 7-8 months ago. It was the bomb! Very forgiving, very accurate, and very far...for the first half hour at the range. Then the head snapped at the hozel. I was stationed in Boston, MA, and it was cold. Figured the cold made the shaft brittle. Dick's replaced it that day no questions asked.

The second shaft lasted almost 3 months. Then it too shattered at the hozel. I am a 9 handicap and not a club abuser...I was baffled. Again, Dick's replaced the club w/ no questions asked (BTW, I think the world of Dick's Sporting Goods and their staff at the Dick's in Natick, MA). Since it was now fairly warm, I was starting to worry.

I moved to New Orleans this summer. I was playing a round in prep for a tournament the next day. I was hitting it very well when a drive only went 220 yards...I immediately knew. I grabbed the head and yep...another shattered shaft. There is no Dick's here so I called Adams direct. They said I must have been abusing the club...that they had not heard of any significant shaft breakage in this model. They then offered to put a extra stiff shaft on it. Extra stiff? I don't swing THAT hard (about 105 mph/driver). I took it to Edwin Watts Golf Shop and they had heard about this problem. It took 3 weeks (they sent the club and shaft to Adams) and I just got it back today. They replace the shaft w/ a Grafalloy Axis (60 grams-stiff) ProLaunch. I will give it a try this weekend. However, I have a pretty high launch now and am worried that the Grafalloy will balloon my drives (it is made for med to high launch). Adams has admitted (to me) no problems with the shaft/hozel.

I will give it one last shot. If this club breaks, I am done w/ Adams. I do love the way it drives (I also have the Boxer 3-wood and hybrid), but I cannot continue w/ a club that constantly breaks and leaves me w/o a driver for weeks on end (I play 3-4 times/week).

I hope my post helps for all those considering this club. Great club for playing...an albatros if you start having my problems.

Take care,

Michael

Even with all the new equipment out there I have been losing distance. Having just turned 58 I find it hard to play from the back tees with young guys and even though I chip and put better than in my youth I rather hit an I iron into a green than hybrid or 5 wood. So I bought the 10.5 regular shaft driver off of EBAY for $90. Great driver that is easy to hit straight, with increased distance. I had been playing the Cleveland XLS the Adams is about 10 to 20 yards longer measured by my Skycaddie. I went from 220 to about 240 on my drives. The shaft is about 1/2 an inch longer than the Cleveland, so I choke down a little. I hit it a lot straighter and a little longer at 58 years old I can use the extra distance.

My first XTD broke during a round only after hitting about 40-50+ balls down in the hozel. The second almost broke in the same place. I think it is the last batch of the model and Adams is throwing them together just to get rid of them. I played very well with them but not very durable for a power hitter. My last one is on the way to Adams Golf to see if they are going to replace it, fix it , or what ever. I bought a TaylorMade Burner as a replacement driver. I would not recommend this driver until it got below $50 for a new one.
