On my pair that fit fine, they're great. I started playing with a pair of Nike shoes from Academy (about $50). Within about 18 months (and 200 rounds), I had re-glued the soles on 4 times. They were very comfortable at first, but once I tried the FJ, I understood what a good platform was supposed to feel like. If you're just hacking it up like the guys in Swingers, then, sure, tennis shoes are fine. But if you get serious about your game, you better have some good equipment. As they say, the swing starts from the ground up and your only contact with the ground is your shoes. There's a reason (other than sponsorship) the pros have good shoes, good equipment, new balls, etc. They make a difference.
Customer Service These were on sale at our pro shop so I bought two pair. The first pair bent in a weird way and killed my left foot. I wore the other pair just fine. I called FJ and got a rep on the phone immediately. She said to send them in (30-day comfort guarantee, 2 yr warranty). I sent them in about a month later finally. Two weeks after that, I got a letter saying "after evaluating your shoes, we have determined that you are entitled to a free replacement pair at full retail value. take this letter to any retailer and redeem for any merchandise up to the value of full retail Classic Dry Premiere. have the merchant send us this letter as your coupon and we will reimburse them..." Talk about standing behind your product!! Similar Products Used: not similar, but Nike golf shoes from Academy...no comparison. |

Pros: These are exceptionally sturdy shoes. I agree that the stability you get from them is great. They are also very durable. Cons: Expensive shoes. They also are longer (I was down a full size) and narrower than most shoes. Do not order over the internet--get fit. They are also very heavy and take some breaking in. The arch support was mediocre also. My summary is that these are great shoes for golfers who ride in carts. I am a walker mainly and found them too heavy and uncomfortable. A very high quality shoe. I have been playing since I was 5 and I miss the old days of metal spikes. No other traction comes close. With the classics you can still find metal spikes to put in them. The only problem nowadays is finding a course to play that allows metal spikes. The shoes should be bought a little snug because they do stretch over time. It took about 50 - 100 walking rounds (and a few blisters) before they began to fit like a glove. The stability of the platform in these shoes is like no other. Also, you have to routinely condition the shoes with leather conditioner to keep the waterproofing up. I have been wearing Footjoy for over 8 years and will not consider buying another brand. I currently have 6 pairs of Classics. Great golf shoes! Very, very comfortable! I still have my 1st pair of classics! You do need to take care of these shoes just like any other pair of dress shoes. Believe me when I tell you this, you will not be disappointed if you were to purchase a pair of Footjoy Classics. Customer Service Footjoy customer service is excellent. The company stands by their word. I had purchased a pair of classics a few years ago and as I changing the spikes, one spike had stripped. I sent the shoes back Similar Products Used: Footjoy Classics and Classics Dry |

Great shoes, well worth the bucks. Now, about that "not for hackers" comment. What a dumbass. That's like saying ribbed condoms are only for gigiloes. I bet that moron has a suped up ford focus with neon running lights and a nuclear subwoofer. I also bet he hits a controlled slice because he plays a lot, but never learned the proper swing plane. To the contrary, if you suck at golf, you should at, the very least, have great shoes. That's true of most things in life. Get one, pal. |

I hate these shoes. These are not athletic shoes. They are dress shoes with nubs on the bottem. Not made for walking. More for show and sitting in a golf cart. I got addidas and I love them. A true athletic shoe. |

I'm not really reviewing these shoes beyond having tried them on in the store, bt I had to comment on the "not for hackers" line a few reviews below mine. What the hell does that have to do with shoes? That's like saying one should shoot 80 before buying a certain type of glove. I've seen guys shoot par in birkenstock sandals with K-Mart clubs and I've seen guys shoot 140 in these footjoys with $2000 worth of clubs. That said, I want to ask who's idea it was to play golf in spiked cheerleader wing-tips anyway? I can't think of a better way to torture your feet. One thing that escapes all of the people riding around in carts with slacks and spikes and drinking a 12-pack is that this is a sport. It requires athletic attire. I may shoot in the 90s (I only took up the game last year), but I carry my equipment and finish in under 4 hours (when there isn't two carts full of fatass drunks in front of me). Great shoes. I prefer to walk all my courses. These shoes allow me to do just that. The feel is between wearing tennis shoes and dress shoes. You can't do much better than that. Traction is great. Style and finish are great. Feel is great. Similar Products Used: nike golf shoes |

I have always thought that with this shoe brand, you were paying for the name. A local shop hade clearanced these shoes from $199, to $49! I couldnt resist. The shoe is everything they say: comfortable, supportive, and durable (so far). At this price this is a great buy, but I would never pay retail. Similar Products Used: None |
