Not sure why so many people are rating durability of this ball low especially if it scuffs when hitting a tree or cart path???

I have been looking for a ball to replace the NXT Tour, great ball but a little too high priced for me. I bought the Gamer because of the price and three piece construction, I am not generally a Top Flite fan. This ball impresses me. It is considerably longer off the tee and very straight. Seems to have good spin on short irons and even out of the sand. I had a little trouble putting at first, the ball feels a little harder than the NXT Tour, once I got used to it it is fine, rolls true. I have no problems with scuffing, it is about the same as any soft cover ball, if you hit a tree or cart path it will scuff. The one I'm playing now has gone 36 holes and is still OK. If you want to play a soft cover ball, learn to live with a few scuffs or go back to hitting "rocks". I just finished my first 18 with this ball. I shot a career round and feel it was because of the ball. It carried an average of 10-15 yeards further than the Taylor LDP or the V1 I usually hit and it did not have the directional spin issues I linked to other Top Flite balls. The spin was good even on our winter greens and the ball held or stopped on most shots to the green. I did not see that I gave up anything putting it which is a main issue for me with the V1. I did not experience any of the scuffing I read about in other reviews and found the durability good for the first 18 I played it. And, as others have said, at $20, it's a good deal! |

At 62 years of age, my driver swing speed averages only about 82 mph. For the first time in memory, I recently hit a high 8 iron into a short hole and actually saw the ball bounce on the green and scoot backwards. I could actually see the ball spinning. It was amazing. I have never been able to do that before. I really like this new 3 piece Gamer, and at $20 a dozen, it's affordable. My wedges seem to scuff it a bit, but I really like the way it performs. I gave my friend one of these balls on the last hole of a round and he plays the ProV1 and nothing else. He hit his drive 20 yards by me, hit a 4 iron to 125 and put his wedge to 12 inches. We went back and played the hole again with his ProV1..he hit a very good drive, good second shot, was still out 180, put his third in the bunker and took a 6. He's an 8hcp and I think the ProV1 doesn't work for his swing. The cover does scratch off a bit on these, but this seems to make the ball spin even more and go farther. I love them most when they're worn a bit. Customer Service none Similar Products Used: B-stone e6+ |

The Gamer spins and stops unlike any other Top Flite, or any other budget ball for that matter, and is much softer than the typical old Rock Flite. Try it. |

Nothing really new to report that the others haven't said already. I only had a few of these and lost them early so I am looking forward to playing them again and studying them more, but from what I could tell: They are much like a cross between the D2 Feel and the TaylorMade Burner TP LDP. The gamers distance is like a good 3 piece at half the price. This ball takes off like a rocket. Soft but not quite as soft as the D2 feel. Very similar to the Callaway HX Hot Bite, especially in terms of durablility. This ball scuffs very easily with wedges. To Top Flites credit, at least it's around $17.99/dz, instead of $29.99. If they could somehow put the D2's soft resiliant cover on this ball and keep it under $18/dz, I would probably never buy another golfball again. As other reviewers have said, the durability of the Gamer is terrible. One crisp fairway shot with a sand wedge is enough to send the ball to the shag bag. Same is true for a shot hitting a cart path - damaged beyond playability IMO. But for $20/dozen, no big loss unless you're hitting a lot of sand wedges or cart paths!

I have been playing the nike one platinum/blacks and the pro v1 golf balls and I recently switched to the top flite gamer. The other top flite golf balls almost sound like your hitting a rock and don't have good feel at all to me, but the top flite gamer gets lots of spin and distance when it counts on the course. I also seemed to get a lot more distance than in the past. I would recommend this golf ball if you want to shoot at least 5 strokes better and want to start playing some serious golf!!!!! Best ball I've ever played. That simple, and I've played a lot of different balls. Great distance and control. Only complaint is they scuff very easily. Need at least 2 balls for a full round. Similar Products Used: most everything |
