I have recently used the new gold box professionals. I got these because they are discontinued and were on special, but I was blown away by their performance. I found these as long as any ball I've used, both with the driver and with the irons, and the feel was exceptional. Much softer than the ProV1X or Callaway HX Tour that seem to be all the rage with low markers these days, but still solid. Off the driver they go straight and long and appear to have low spin. The ball flight was a perfect medium to high and held it's line well in the wind. On full shots the ball stopped well and backed up with the shorter irons, and the consitency was excellent. These balls are also very workable, and will respond to any type of shot. Around the greens these balls are very reponsive and perform simlarly to the older Tour Ultimate, which was one of the best short game balls ever made. The feel off the putter is fantastic and the ball seems to get rolling straight away, leading to good distance control on the greens. The only fault I could make of these was that early in the round I hit a full sand wedge that scuffed the ball significantly, although as the round progressed the ball held up ok and was definitely more durable than the old stratas that would be shredded after a couple of holes. I'm surprised these balls were discontinued, possibly prejudiced by the durability issues with the old stratas as other premium balls were definitely more durable, as they are the best balls available at any price (although I haven't tried the Nike one black which is reputed to be very good). I would definitely reccomend these to any low marker looking for a ball that does it all, and still feels soft. At full price these are competitive with any other high priced balls, at current price they are an absolute steal. I'll be going back to the shop and buying as many boxes as I can get. Absolutely the best ball I've ever used. Great distance, hits & sticks on the green. Very workable. Only drawback is that the cover does get torn up after a few wfull edge shots, but then so did Balata. A small sacrifice for the otherwise top performance. Eight of my ten rounds below 80 have been with this ball I'm crushed that they no longer manufacture it. Customer service suggested the new Tour Soft. I have & it does not compare in any category Customer Service Very responsive to email Similar Products Used: Strata Tour Soft, Titelist ProV1, Strata Ace, Srixon 333 |

These have been my favorite ball for 2 years. Starting last year, I could not find them. Found some at a local Academy Sports for $8/dozen. What a deal. I hit these longer than anything, including the ProV1. Cover is a little less durable than some, but for the distance and feel around the greens and at $8/doz., who cares! I won a dozen of these in a long-drive contest and waited for a while to try them out, as they were too expensive to play over and over again. Just about the time I first tried them, the price literally plummeted from close to $30/dozen down to $15-$20. These balls are GREAT for the money. No lack of distance, great bite on the greens, 3-piece construction. My only real complaint is that the covers are not very durable on them, just like many other premium/3-piece balls. However, if you're paying just over a buck a ball NEW, you can deal with buying a few more if they perform well, right? Quite possibly, the best ball I've used in this price range. Accurate and it putts true. Not the softest ball I've used, but I'm not a big fan of "soft" feel. Matches up with a Precept Laddie in almost all respects. Customer Service Have not had to use. I just started using this ball. Came of the xl3000 super distance. I gotto say at $20 closeout price I will buy several more 12 packs. I believe the new model just came out because these were $10 off. Anyway, these provided great control for me around the green and checked up nicely. Also, they putt very true.
