Model Reviewed: Nike Power Distance Super Soft

I tried the Power Distance Super-Soft as an alternative to the Precision Spin Control. Pro's: Nice distance off the tee without too much side spin; mid-irons shots also felt good, and ball flight was controlled (no ballooning). I seemed to get about the same amount of short-iron spin with these as with my Spin Control's. The ball's soft compression also let me slow down my short-iron swings without sacrificing any distance. Con's: Shots around the green felt a little stiff. This is a two-piece ball, so it's not going to feel like a Tour Accuracy or One ball, but as soft as the ball felt with a six-iron, I expected better feel with the lob wedge. Also, as has been the case with other Nike balls I've played, the cover scratches / cuts rather easily. I found myself reaching for a new ball after only nine holes. Overall: I felt that this was a good ball for the dollar, but those used to playing with the feel of a tour-level ball might not be satisfied. This might be a better choice for the mid-high handicapper, the slow swinger, or someone having trouble stopping it on the green. As for me, I'll stick with my Precision Spin Control's.
