DUNLOP LOCO CRAZY LONG
In my search for the "perfect" golf ball I have come to a conclusion that there are broad bands to which each ball falls into and there isn't that much difference between balls in that particular grouping. Sure, some feel a little firmer, others softer etc. A matter of personal preference. But in general it seems like the more you pay the better ball you get. Simple as that. Picked up a box of these at Dunham's the other day just out of curiosity. Hard to pass up the $14 price tag or the cool hat that came in the box. Took them out of the box and went to my personal driving range - the park across the street. I've got standards to where I generally hit each club and I'm pretty consistent - at least with my irons. I swear the first time I hit this ball I thought I had whiffed. I did NOT feel the ball come off the club it is so soft but looked up quickly and saw the ball rocket into the air. It came off the club so hot and it went a mile high and about 15 yards farther than I had ever hit a wedge before. Thought I was particularly jacked up today so went back to the Titleist and Callaway balls I am used to playing. Hit both solid and right where I am used to. Hit another Loco and put it 10 yards past them. I swear it was so soft I thought I had totally missed the ball again. It was absolutely amazing. I am totally skeptical of all the claims made for balls that are supposedly so much better than others. I haven't played a single hole with it yet but if it performs like it did on my subjective little test I may have a ball that is worth consideration putting in my bag next to balls that cost nearly three times as much. After trying other lower compression balls, I think we've got a winner. Very close to Noodle and (sadly) better than the Titliest So~Lo. I say (sadly) because I've been a Titleist guy for some time now and have not been all that impressed the the So~Lo's, NXT's & HVC's. I'm using one less iron on approach shots and getting slightly longer/straighter drives. These things feel good off the clubface hold the green, and putt true. Price is better too. Sold. Very impressed with this ball. It flys long and stright with driver. I get 20 yards more consistantly with my driver. With irons I am 10-15 yards longer and get great height. This height gets this ball to approach the green with a steep drop so it sticks fairly well. In fact it held the green better then the Titleist solo or Noodle. Putts well too. The only problem is that they are hard to find where I live. Sports Authority does not seem to carry them and Dick's is always out of stock! Customer Service ?? Decided I prefer softies over RockFlites or their equivalents. Tried all types: MaxFli Noodles, Nike's softies, TopFlite (Super Soft), Titleist (PTS Solo) and the Dunlop Loco and Dunlop's "Butter Soft". For me there's not much in it except the price. These are £8.99 for twelve, the "Butter Soft" are £9.99 for 16 - thats 75p and 65p respectively, as opposed to £2 for the Titleists, etc. I agree they don't wear as well as the more expensive balls, but I seldom start & finish a game with the same ball, so that doesn't matter so much for me. I also agree that they don't grip the greens very well, but at least as well as those in the group above. When terms such as "backspin" and "one bounce and stop" actually begin to mean something to me then I might consider another ball. Until then, these will be fine for me. They're long enought too. I'm always within 10 yards of everyone distance wise - whether on the fairway, or in the trees. If I find trouble & I doubt I'll be able to find it, or play it from there I can just carry on walking rather than spend ages looking for my shiny new Pro V1x (much to the anger of those behind). Nice ball, great price. Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: Virtually all softies |

I was pretty excited about trying this ball after reading the reviews here on this site. I went out and bought a box and I was pretty darn impressed. The only probelems I have with the ball is that it feels like you are hitting a basketball instead of a golf ball when the weather gets hot. Its also harder than hell to get it to stop on some greens. It has great distance and accuracy but I think I will try the Loco Bite to see if it is any better. Overall I like this ball. It really jumped off the clubface. However, it seemed to lose some of it's "heat" after a few holes. What I found that set it apart is that it takes a beating fairly early. It doesn't take many holes before the logo started coming off and the ball started showing signs of wear. Played a Srixon Soft Feel today and after 18 holes it still looked new. After 18 with a LOCO it looks like its been through about 54. All other low compression balls I've used hold up better in appearance. LONG! Driver distance, + 30; iron distance, +one club with wedges to + 25 yards with fairway woods. The things don't spin excessively so the're easy to control. Typical (no duffed shots) 535 yard par 5, driver to 265-270 from hole, 6-iron to 95 yards out, 54deg.SW to hole. With Loco, Driver to 245-235 yards from hole, 3-iron (draw) to hole, the Loco runs on the green about ten yards on the green with a draw. They don't get enough spin off of a fairway wood to hold a green, but of of a clean lie, they are about like a Maxfli XS Tour. They put great and pitch and run great also. Overall, not a Pro V1, but not $50/doz either. So who's on tour. Save your money and take a lesson. Customer Service They don't give you a new one if you loose it. They can't swim. Come on! What kind of service does a golf ball give? You beat the snot out of it, try to drowned it, sware at it, it stays round and doesnt even smile at you. Ah ha. Locos, The're durable!!
