This ball has everything I was looking for. It gives me exactly the launch off my driver I was looking for. The feeling is superb. It really makes me feel like I control the ball and not the other way around. I don't think this ball is a waist on higher handicapers. i have gained distance and confidence in my short game. i'm very happy with this ball!

For me (notice I said "For me"), I've found that the overall performance of this ball is quite superb. In comparison to other premium, multi-layered balls (i.e. ProV1, ProV1x, Nike One Black, Nike One Platinum) this ball performs just as well, if not better in some regards, than some of the ones I just mentioned. In my experience, this ball has done exactly what Callaway says it's supposed to. It provides optimal feel and spin without sacrificing ample loss of distance. To be honest, I've noticed no loss in distance and that goes for all the clubs in my bag. The ball does seem to stay in the air a little longer than most others I've tried. Perhaps the "Sub-Hex" dimple design does help contribute to this. To reiterate what most other reviewers of this ball have already stated, the only complaint I have about this balls is its durability. Unlike some other posts however, I wont say that one new ball has been cut, scuffed, etc. after only 1 wedge shot. This isn't this case for me. I'm only stating that the durability isn't as good as other premium balls. In a recent round, I was able to use the same ball for 6 straight holes without any severe wear and tear that would otherwise hinder its performace. But, I for one believe that ones swing type has a slight affect on the condition the ball may be in after one iron shot. I tend to have a shallow, sweeping approach into the ball with most clubs. This might be a result of me not damaging the ball as much as one who has a more steep, aggressive approach into the ball. But this is just my assumption. Anyway, in conclusion, I think that the performance and quality of this ball is great and is definitely worth trying if you haven't already.

This ball is not as long, or as forgiving off of the tee, as the Titleist NXT that I had been Playing. Cover is thin and shows wear very quickly. Ball is soft, which makes it great on and around the greens. I don't think the sacrifice of distance off of the tee is worth the benefits around the green for me. Probably just not the ball for this double digit handicapper

Softest golf ball I have ever played. Sticks on the greens way better than my old ProV1x. My golfing buddies tried out these balls after they saw how much the balls improved my game and ended up all going out and buying a dozen each. Dont go exceptionally far off the tee though. Cover is thin and scratches easily. One ball lasts me about 27 holes before it gets really bad. Have great feel off the putter too. A little pricy but worth it.

I'm amazed at some of the reviews on this ball! Obvious Callaway people looking for something that simply isn't there! The Nike Platinum one is simply a superior ball in every way! This ball is not particularly long considering the fact that it's spin qualities are poor! The Platinum is just as long, has a better trajectory, and spins like MAD compared to this ball! Sometimes I don't like playing the Nike ball because if I hit the ball short I will often spin the ball off the green. My distance control is much worse than it's ability to spin. Anyway, back to the 56. It feels about the same as a Bridgestone B330S off the putter, but is not as fun to hit with the driver as the Bridgestone. So what's this ball have that no other ball has? 6-8 strange really deep dimples, otherwise this ball's got nothing!

I've been using the One Platinum (Woods') and the HX Tour 56 (Mickelson's) recently in anticipation of posting a comparison here. Below are the results. This is also posted under the HX Tour 56 reviews. First, information about my game in hopes that it will help you. I have a driver swing speed around 115mph with a typical driving distance around 285. I like a ball that spins a lot around the greens and that I can back up when needed. At a minimum, the ball needs to stop within a few feet of where it lands with any club shorter than a 7 iron. I prefer a lower trajectory for normal shots. A professional ball flight on driver and wood shots is also desired. I refer to a flight that penetrates low and then seems to hang in the air as opposed to a ballooning type flight. So, the details broken down into six categories: distance, trajectory, ball flight, spin, feel, and durability. Distance: In my opinion, the 56 is about 5 to 10 yards longer than the Platinum. I realize this is counter to what other people have said, but I've experimented on the course and have found this to be true. The 56 travels on average about 285, and the Platinum is around 275. For all other clubs, the difference is about 5 yards. Advantage: 56. Trajectory: To me, the 56 has a lower initial trajectory off the driver than the Platinum. However, the Platinum's is not bad. In fact, I think I prefer its slightly higher trajectory. The difference is really not that big and is only noticeable for the better ball striker who really cares. That being said, both have a low trajectory that can penetrate the wind but still allow for a high shot. Advantage : Draw. Ball Flight: I think the Platinum has a truer professional ball flight. The 56 initial trajectory was so low that it never reached a good apex where it would flatten out; it was more of a parabolic flight. The Platinum has a beautiful flight that makes it hold up well even in stiff wind. Advantage: Platinum Spin: The Platinum wins this category because it just spins more. Of course, you have to hit it correctly, but when you do, it responds. The 56's spin was a little inconsistent, and I believe that was due to the hex shape of the dimples. With regular circular dimples like the Platinum has, you have more surface area to work with; but, with the hex design, you only have thin edges to grab with the grooves. I was actually quite disappointed in the lack of spin from the 56 a few times when I made solid contact and got no magic. Advantage: Platinum. Feel: Unfortunately, the Platinum felt much more like a rock to me than the 56. Whereas the 56 seemed to just jump right off the face, the Platinum seemed to stick to the face giving it a heavy feel, if you know what I mean. I think this is shown by the difference in distance. I prefer a soft feel, but the Platinum was too soft. The 56 was just about right. Advantage : 56 Durability: This is where the Platinum simply outshines the 56. The 56 just drives me crazy how it gets beat up so easily, especially if you hit a cart path. I mean, after 3 holes, the 56 looks like it’s been through a shredder, whereas the Platinum looks like new (unless you've hit a cartpath). This was especially noticeable with the wedge play. I remember standing 100 yards from the pin and wanting to hit a sand wedge that would hit in front of the pin, hit again and then back up. Well, in doing so, I removed a huge chunk of paint from the 56, exposed the yellow layer, and shredded the outside. The same shot with the Platinum left a slight mark on the outer layer. This one's not even close. Advantage : Platinum. So, in the end, the Platinum wins, though the 56 is still a really good ball.

This Ball made by Callaway is astonishing. It's the softest ball around the green and off the putter, it'a amazing. The Disance is long, and yet delivers great spin and feel. If you are a low hanidcapper and wants less spin, this is not your ball..... But for those who love spin and backspin around the greens, this is your ball... AMAZING BALL!!

This ball has all the performance characteristics I was looking for in a golf ball. Excellent distance, soft off irons, and easy to control around the greens. Unfortunately, the ball looks like it went through a paper shredder after full wedge shots. If Callaway can figure out a way to make this ultra thin cover more durable, they will have a true winner on their hands. Until that day, I'll stick with the regular HX Tour.

the callaway hx56 does fly a long way, seems as though the ball just does,nt want to come down(good for an extra 20 yards). the cover is very soft, has good feel around the greens and stops as fast as the pro v or hogan apex line but durability due to the extremely thin (.021) and soft cover (40D)is not there IF you miss hit the ball. better ball strikers will love this ball, others would be better served with the regular hx tour(.025 -54D) or the big bertha line(.061 -61D) (if your a callayway fan)which has greatly improved at a much lower price.

Great ball from Callaway. Plays with the length of the ProV1-x and softness of the 2004 ProV1. Truly and outstanding ball from Callaway! Typical $40 price of a premium ball and worth every penny. Greenside feel is amazing and length is FAR.
