Callaway HX Blue Balls

Callaway HX Blue Balls

DESCRIPTION

Unlike any other ball on the market, the solid core, three-piece HX features a patented tubular lattice network that results in 100 percent surface area coverage. The design improves low-speed lift and reduced high-speed drag to give you a more penetrating trajectory, greater carry, more roll distance and unsurpassed flight stability.

The balls are great. they hit far and roll quite a ways. but they have to much spin if you are playing on bentgrass greens. in a high school match i had to switch to hx reds just so i would not spin it off the greens. i through it 5 feet past the pin and it span all the way off the front down the hill 30 yards off the green. but they are great balls on bermuda greens.

I bought this ball after hearing all the clames to fame like softer feel and better spin. Well, they were right. But by far the most amazing thing about this ball is that high winds have almost no affect of the flight path or distance. This ball cuts through the winds like a hot knife through butter.

The HX Blue is the solid ball that comes closest to giving me the feel of the Titleist Professional ball but with more distance. The spin of the HX is awesome around the greens. The ball is softer feeling than the Pro V1, spins better on chip shots, holds its line well in windy conditions and is my ball of choice now. The biggest problem I ever had with solid balls, be them 3 piece or 2 piece, was that they weren't as soft feeling as the wound balls. The HX blue now comes closest for me. If someone thinks this balls scuffs much too easily, then they need to play with a harder covered surlyn ball. Any urethane covered ball will scuff a bit more easily than surlyn blends even a Pro V1.

Great ball, flies high and long, with a lot of roll on the fairways and spin on the greens, but the cover scuffs up real easy (can't really survive an entire round without getting a few large gashes on it), but I've found that the HX Red's cover is a little more durable and will last maybe a round and a half longer.

THE BEST! Here's the deal, we all want to play the balls that the pro's play but we don't spin them they way they do, that's why we need something softer. Wonder why Titleist is making a ProV1 with less spin? Wonder why Tigers ball does not spin as much. The minute I got away from a harder ball and went to something that was softer (but still longer, I'm talking 3 piece premium) I started playing better around the greens. My wedges drop and stop, the only knock is that they chip yellow versus the ProV that chips white. I think this is the best ball on the market for the guy that is shooting in the high 70's and low 80's...

I have now played about a half dozen rounds with these ball, trying to see if they outperformed the Pro V. In no way are they comparable. The pros - they are soft and certainly spin which looks nice when they hit the green. The cons - the high spin rate makes them virtually uncontrollable in the wind and they are not nearly as long as the Pro V balls, wind or no wind. Sorry, but they don't make it. I'm next going to try the Hex 2 piece balls and see what they are like.

This ball is a fantastic ball. I have used the same ball for 2 rounds now and it still is in great shape. This ball drives pretty far, and it does keeps its line in the wind. Its just as soft as the blue ctu 30. It feels just a little different than the ctu. Great all around ball. I drive the farthest with this ball than any other ball.
