Callaway HX Blue Balls

Callaway HX Blue Balls

DESCRIPTION

Unlike any other ball on the market, the solid core, three-piece HX features a patented tubular lattice network that results in 100 percent surface area coverage. The design improves low-speed lift and reduced high-speed drag to give you a more penetrating trajectory, greater carry, more roll distance and unsurpassed flight stability.

hey, i've been playing dt solos for about 4 years (right now im 14 and shoot high70/low 80's) and i switched to the nxt and really liked it, and when i was in sports authority i saw these balls for the firs time, but i remembered that i really liked the one that i found in the woods somewhere

so i bought them and took them to the course and i REALLY likes them
if you like to get a ton of spin than these check up better then any other ball that i've ever played or found
the only problem is if you're not the straightest driver than you'll diffinetly have your struggles because this ball has a lot of side spin, but i haven't noticed it having very much on my 3 wood hybrid or long irons, so it must just have to do with drivers having hardly any loft

props to callaway because ill be playin these balls for the next couple years or so :) :)
oh-and at about $25 a dozen they're not over priced

Surprisingly this is a very good ball. I am not a big fan of Callaway but for the value this ball is worth buying (i think it is now discontinued). It feels very very good off the clubs and the putter but the only drawback is that is scuffs easily. Not a distance ball, but do 5-10 yards really make a difference???. Great performance around the greens. The HX tour feels just as good but goes further. I would certainly recomend this ball over the NXT's. I think this ball is the king of the $20 range balls.

This is a great ball. It's certainly not the longest ball out there, but I find it to be straight off the driver. Length isn't an issue for me, so I wanted a ball with predictable spin and control around the greens. The HX Blue is that ball. This ball is very soft off the driver and the irons. It feels like butter. While it's not as long as the ProV1 or the HX Tour, it spins every bit as much as both and I believe has more bite and control. Wether you're hitting a high lob or a short chip, this ball will stick like glue and has a predictible release. If you play on really soft bent greens, this ball may spin too much. I have spun 8 irons off the green with this ball before, so you really have to flight your irons on soft greens. However, if you play on bermuda, this is your ball. The HX Red ball will go a mile, but will not have the soft feel and bite as the Blue. This ball is very soft, therefore it is easy to scuff on cartpaths or even the short irons. I play the new 2006 Big Bertha irons and I have peeled these with the pitching wedge. So I'll give them a 4 rating on value. I got 6 dz of these on Ebay for $1 per ball in like new condition!

This is such a wonderful ball. If you like you ball soft and ability to make it stop and drop on the green this is it. I've read many of the reviews and the only thing that I have to agree on is that it does scuff..if it hits the cart path or trees..but that's YOUR fault..not the balls. As far as durability if hit correctly it's as good as PV1's. I love the clean design to and the hex's are just cool..you feel good playing it. It's awesome around the green too. Maybe pricey but well worth it.

I used these balls and i found that they were very good for the price, except the durability. I found that they did not effect my driving very much and I got excellent spin around the greens. And I do not think that they will cause you to shoot a 50 or much off of your normal score, it isnt the ball that shoots high its the golfer.

Like in many other reviews of this ball, I've got to say that this is one hard ball to control off the tee. Side spin for my draw was alittle too much and ended up left in the woods. I couldnt figure out why my round was so horrible. Then realized it was the first time i was playing with the new HX Blue balls i bought a week ago. Well I gotta say they do check very nice on the greens and its got a nice soft feel off the irons. If I had to pick a Callaway ball i'd go back to my HX Hot's, (havent tried the Tour 56 yet). Im giving the value rating 3 stars for the ability to stop the ball relatively in the spot i intend on making it stop from 30 yards and in with some spin, but there are plenty of other balls that spin just as much for $29.99 or less. And im giving it overall a 2 star rating because it made me look like an idiot when i played with friend who i had told i could hit the ball 300+ and was maxing out around 285(definitly lost yardage and accuracy).

I bought these balls because I thought being able to stop the ball quickly on the green on approach shots, and even having it spin back on occasion is what my game needed, as I was becoming more aggressive on said shots, and found myself over-shooting the pin a lot. Having played 2 rounds with these balls, and I can confirm that they work as advertised...sort of. The problem is that (for me) the ball is terribly hard to control off the tee with anything more than a 5 iron. Driver...forget it. Not only are these balls very hard (for me) to control off the tee, when I do happen to hit one straight, it's not long as I usually hit. I probably lose 10-15 yards with these balls. The truth is that I get much more distance, and much more control out of much cheaper balls. Bottom line. I love the way they feel off the clubface, I love the way they react on the green, I love the way they sound, and I hate the way they respond off the tee. For me, that's a deal-breaker. Especially at $30 per dozen. I'm going to try out the Big Birtha Blue 2-piece balls next, and my hope is that I'll be able to control them better than these 3-piece balls, get better distance, and that they'll still have similar characteristics around the green and into the green that the HX balls do. For where I'm at in my game, these balls are too much for me to work with. Unfortunately, I learned that the hard way. I have one HX ball in my bag. The woods have the rest of them.

Can't believe the rave reviews about these balls. I bought these and used one yesterday. The ball is very short and didn't spin any better for me than Titleist NXT Tours. 9 holes ballooned into a 50, switched back to Tours and boom, a 5 over 40. This ball felt very soft and released on particle wedges instead of stopping. Want a deal on 11 1/2 HX Blues?

I think most golfers like the ball they play or they wouldn't buy them. So I am reluctant to make any sweeping claims about the superiority of the HX Blue. Truth is, I was happy with my Titleist Tour Distance SF balls until I found one of the Callaway's on the course and decided to start hitting it. It felt different and really stopped short on the very fast greens I play on. I bought a bunch of them and it is now my favorite everyday ball. I even prefer it to the very pricey Pro V-1. I agree with other reviewers in their comments that: 1. The ball does scuff easily and does not hold up to cart path or tree stikes at all. 2. This is NOT a distance ball; I have found it to be a full club shorter than the Tour Distance SF. Lastly, if you like the HX Blue, you will love the HX Tour. I now play the former during the week and the latter in matches with friends where I enjoy the distance of the Titleist and the feel of the HX Blue.
